Paradise is at the feet of your mother.

Feb 19, '13 1:21 PM
for everyone

It is reported that a young man approached the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) and asked, "O Prophet of Allah (s.a.w.s.), I have a mother who is an invalid. She cannot even move by herself. I carry her on my back and feed her with my hands. I also clean her excreta. Have I fulfilled her rights?". The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) replied, "No. Because you have remained in the womb for a long period during which you derived your nourishment from her body. She was every busy in caring and protecting you at all costs. Inspite of such hardships she always wished a long life for you. But you are waiting for her to die so that you may relieved of the responsibility of taking care of her."
The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) described the eminence of a mother's position in the following statement:
1. "If you are praying a mustahab prayer and your father calls you, do not break your prayer but if your mother calls, break the prayer." Truly, this assigns a remarkably high status to a mother.

The Prophet (s.a.w.s.) states, "Paradise is at the feet of your mother." Hence one need not go far in search of Paradise.

To Ward Off FEARS, WORRIES & ANXIETIES

Feb 20, '13 10:01 AM
for everyone

Every morning recite the following Dua to ward off
and keep away 70 types of problems:

“Al-Hamdu Lillaahi Rabbil Aalameen,
Al-Hamdu Lillaahi Hamdan Katheeran
Tayyiban Mubaarakan Fihi.”

(Praise is for Allaah Who is the Lord of the worlds, Praise is for Allaah, many many Praises, pure and virtuous.)

O my Allah, the honour of being Your servant is sufficient.
I am proud of the fact that You are my Lord.
You are just as I want, so make me just as You like me to be.
الهي كفى بي عزّا أن أكون لك عبدا ، وكفى بي فخرا أن تكون لي ربّا
... أنت كما أُحبُّ ،  فاجعلني كما تحبُّ
اللهم عجل لوليك الفرج يا الله
“Whenever you recite “Dua”, have this
impression that what you want is at the door.”

Imam Sadiq (AS) said: "God grants seven hours to repent to any believer
who commits a sin. If he repents in that period, nothing will be recorded
in his letter of deeds, but if he does not, then the sin will be recorded."
Shaikh Sadooq narrates from Imam Ali-ar-Reza (AS) that if a person does
not have the means to lessen the stock of his bad deeds, he should send
Salawaat and Salaam on Mohammad (SAWW) and His Progeny (AS) abundantly, doing so will decrease (the weight of ) his sins.

SUPPLICATION IN SEEKING REFUGE FROM HATEFUL THINGS..............

Feb 20, '13 10:09 AM
for everyone

Imam Zaindul Abdedin (a.s.)Supplication in Seeking Refuge from Hateful Things , Bad Moral Qualities , and Blameworthy Acts

O God,  I seek refuge in Thee from the agitation of craving , the violence of wrath , the domination of envy , the frailty of patience , the lack of contentment , surliness of character , urgency of passion , the disposition to vehemence , following caprice , opposing guidance , the sleep of heedlessness , undertaking the toilsome , preferring falsehood over truth , persisting in sin , making little of disobedience , making much of obedience , vying with the  wealthy , disparaging the poor , guarding badly over those in our hands , failing to thank those have done good to us , aiding a wrongdoer , abandoning someone troubled , wanting what is not rightfully  ours , and speaking about knowledge without knowing . We seek refuge in Thee from harboring dishonesty toward anyone , being pleased with our works , and stretching out our expectations . We seek refuge in Thee from ill-mindedness , looking down on the small , Satan's gaining mastery over us , time's afflicting us , and the sovereign's oppressing us . We seek refuge in Thee from acting with prodigality and not having sufficiency . We seek refuge in Thee from the gloating of enemies, indigent need for equals , living in hardship , and dying without readiness . We seek refuge in Thee from the most dreadful remorse , the greatest affliction , the most wretched wretchedness , the evil end to the journey , the deprivation of reward , and the advent of punishment .

O God , bless Muhammad and his Household and through Thy mercy , give to me refuge from all of that , and to all the faithful , both men and women ! O Most Merciful of the merciful !

HIJAB OF MEN TOWARDS NON-MEHRAM

Feb 20, '13 10:19 AM
for everyone

In fact, many of us would be surprised to note that Allah states in the Holy Qur'an:"Tell the believing men to cast down their looks and guard their private parts; that is purer for them; surely Allah is Aware of what they do. And tell the believing women that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts and do not display their ornaments except what appears thereof...." (24:30-31)
Indeed, before addressing women and telling them to conceal their bodies, Allah first addresses the believing men and tells us to lower our gaze!
When discussing the issue of Hijab for men, it is essential to keep in mind the Golden Rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. A man once came to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny) and told him he wished to commit fornication. As the companions got up to strike him, the Prophet restrained them and then said to the man, "My son, how would you feel if someone wished to do the same thing with your mother or sister or wife or daughter?" The man replied that naturally he would want to kill the person. The Prophet then said, "If you do not wish for someone to do such an act with your mother or sister or wife or daughter, then why entertain such a thought about someone else's mother or sister or wife or daughter?!"
Islamic teachings on Hijab for males can be divided into three categories:
The Holy Prophet is reported to have said, "One who believes in Allah and the Day of Judgment does not remain in a place where even the sound of breathing of non-Mahram women is perceived." (Wasail al-Shia)
However confident we may be in our ability to avoid Haram, let us not forget that Shaitan even tried to misguide Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail (peace be upon them). So what special spiritual powers do we possess that make us think we can completely avoid his evil whispers?

Hijab of the Eye

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (peace be upon him) has said, "The evil glance is fornication of the eyes, the kiss is fornication of the lips, and touching a non-Mahram woman is fornication of the hands." (Wasail al-Shia)
Yet one minor glance can have a spiritually disastrous effect on the human being. Prophet Isa (peace be upon him) once said to his disciples: "Beware of looking at forbidden things, for that is the seed of desire and leads to deviant behavior." (Lantern of the Path)
Many of us might believe in "lowering the gaze", but this is an aspect of our Hijab that most of us still need to perfect. In addition to not looking at non-Mahrams, prudence dictates that we should avoid looking at pictures, billboards, magazines, as well as television programs and movies with images of non-Mahram women.
Even a few inappropriate glances at non-Mahrams can over time cause one to abandon his modesty and openly start "checking out" girls. From a psychological point of view, the things we perceive with our eyes during the course of the day are stored in our memory. These images then subconsciously "accumulate" and slowly lead a person to physically manifest them. Hence the alarming rate of Muslim youth today who have become addicted to pornography and cannot help but satisfy their desires through unlawful means. The despicable act of masturbation, so widespread among Muslim youth today, can only be avoided by stopping such images and thoughts from accumulating in our minds in the first place – and that can only be achieved by lowering the gaze at any and all times.
In addition to preventing us from committing vulgar and sinful behavior, the spiritual benefits one attains from observing proper Hijab of the eye are innumerable. In short, our beloved Prophet has said, "Lower your gaze, and you will see wonders!"

Prophet Yousuf – the Perfect Example

On a final note, it is said that when Zulaikha, the wife of the Aziz of Egpyt, tried to seduce Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him), she covered the face of the idol placed nearby. When Prophet Yusuf inquired, she said she did not wish for it to witness her commit a sin. Prophet's Yusuf's reply to Zulaikha encompasses the true essence of the Hijab for men and can serve as the perfect benchmark for us to judge the appropriateness of our actions at all times. He said: "If you exhibit shyness and modesty before a stone that does not see, it is more befitting for me to exhibit shame and modesty before the One Who sees and Who is aware of everything that is manifest about me and everything that is concealed within me."

THE STRIKE OF THE SWORD OF ALI (A.S.) ON THE BATTLE OF KHANDAQ......

Feb 20, '13 10:23 AM
for everyone

A'mr Ibn A’bd Wudd was a warrior who, in battle, was a match for a thousand soldiers.  In the battle of Ahzaab, he challenged the Muslim soldiers to fight him but none possessed the courage to stand up before him till Imam A'li (a.s.) presented himself before the Holy Prophet (sa.w) and sought permission to fight him.

The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) said to Ali, “Do realize that this is A'mr Ibn A’bd Wudd.”

Imam A'li (a.s.) humbly stated, “(And) I am A'li Ibn Abi Talib,”and then proceeded towards the battle-field and stood before A'mr.

After a fierce encounter, Imam A'li (a.s.) eventually knocked him down and sat on his chest.

Witnessing this, the entire Muslim army importuned the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.): “O’ Messenger of Allah, order A'li (a.s.) to kill A'mr immediately.”

“Leave him alone for he is more aware of his deeds than anyone else,” replied the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.)

When A'li (a.s.) had severed the head of A'mr, he brought it to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.), who questioned him (peace be upon him), “O’ A'li! What caused you to hesitate before killing A'mr?”

He said, “O’ Messenger of Allah!  When I had floored him, he abused me, as a result of which I was overcome by rage.  I feared that if I were to kill him in that state of anger, it would be for consoling myself and pacifying my soul. So I stepped away from him till my fury subsided when I returned to sever his head from his body only for the happiness of Allah and in obedience to Him.”

It was because of this sincerity and invaluable combat on the part of Imam Ali that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) said:

“The strike of the sword of A'li on the day of the battle of Khandaq is superior to the worship of all men and jinn.”

SEEKING GUIDANCE FROM ALLAH IN ALL AFFAIRS................

Feb 20, '13 10:25 AM
for everyone

Seeking guidance from Allah in all affairs of life is the ultimate route to leading a steady and stable life with a healthy spirit of faith. Seeking guidance to the ways of safety and ending with the triumphant ones is the desire of all righteous believers.
In the "Prayer for Covering and Protection," we ask:
"…rank me among the companions of the right hand,
direct me to the ways of safety,
place me in the throng of the triumphant…" (al-Sahifa as-Sajjadiya)
If we lack the correct guidance and result in (God forbid) being among the losing ones, it will truly be a great defeat – it will be the greatest calamity of life, and we will experience a heart-wrenching remorse:
"We seek refuge in Thee from
the most dreadful remorse,
the greatest affliction,
the most wretched wretchedness,
the evil end to the journey,
the deprivation of reward,
and the advent of punishment." (Ibid.)
Guidance and deviation are both dependent upon a servant's will and action. The acceptance of guidance is related with the purity of soul and light of knowledge, while deviation results from corruption and blindness of ignorance. The desire to go nearer to Allah and struggle in His way results in yet more guidance:
"And (as for) those who strive hard for Us, We will most certainly guide them unto Our ways; and Allah is most surely with the doers of good." (Holy Qur'an 29:69)
Both guidance and deviation are increased or decreased, based on the initiatives of servants:
"We relate to you their story with the truth; surely they were youths who believed in their Lord and We increased them in guidance."(18:13)
The fellows of the cave took a great initiative in risking their lives and everything they had. The result of that was increased guidance and mercy from Allah.
"And when a communication comes to them they say: We will not believe till we are given the like of what Allah's messengers are given. Allah best knows where He places His message. There shall befall those who are guilty humiliation from Allah and severe chastisement because of what they planned.
Therefore (for) whomsoever Allah intends that He would guide him aright, He expands his breast for Islam, and (for) whomsoever He intends that He should cause him to err, He makes his breast strait and narrow as though he were ascending upwards; thus does Allah lay uncleanness on those who do not believe." (6:124-125)
The above verses show that the uncleanness and deviation will be the destiny of those who have rejected the Truth in first place. The lack of guidance in this respect is because of aversion to the Truth. Some people argue that if deviation is caused by Allah then what is the fault of man?
The answer is that Allah does not misguide or mislead any of His servants; rather, the lack of guidance is because of their preferring the falsehood over the truth. A good reply in this regard has been given in the following lengthy quote:
"When we pay attention to the verses of the Noble Book, we find that there are two kinds of Divine guidance: one that is related to the law and the second that is related to existence. Man has both kinds of guidance. This is in contrast to misguidance, which is only existential and does not exist with relation to the Law. This is because Allah is essentially the Guide, since it is impossible that He be essentially the Lord, the Worshipped, and the Refuge, but not be the Essential Guide. If this were not the case then the evildoers would bring forth an excuse, saying to Allah, 'We wanted your guidance but you lead us astray.'
It is impossible for Allah to lead someone astray initially since this goes against His wisdom and since nothing comes from Allah except goodness and mercy, He does not lead anyone on an incorrect path from the outset. Rather, His misguidance is a type of punishment. In other words the bad people have gone astray and have been afflicted with misguidance by there [sic] own choice. Therefore in reality, initial misguidance is ascribed to the creatures, and the misguidance that is a punishment pertains to the Creator.
In conclusion we can say that Allah's misguidance means that He cuts off His mercy and blessings from a person and leaves him to fend for himself; and it is this that results in man becoming lost on the Path. If someone does not accept the guidance of the Law, Allah will exclude him from His existential guidance. In other words, it is the actions of a disbeliever or an oppressor which cause him not to have Divine guidance. This is in line with the order of creation, which is based on cause and effect. Consequently Allah has said that He will not guide the unbeliever, oppressor,or the sinner."
The other aspect of guidance which we seek to discuss here is the difference between "ways of Allah" and the "Straight Path". Guidance can come through various ways, and all of these ways can lead to Allah; however, the Straight Path is the highest of all of those, and it is the path of those whose servanthood has not been corrupted with injustice or polytheism. Allama Tabatabai discusses in Al-Mizan:
"First: There are various ways to Allah each differing with others in perfection, easiness and smoothness. It all depends on its nearness or remoteness from the basic reality, from the straight path, like the way of submission, of faith, of worship, of purity of intention or of humility before Allah. Some of the ways leading to the opposite direction are disbelief, polytheism, infidelity, exceeding the bounds, committing sins etc. Allah has said: And for all are grades according to what they did, and so that He may pay them back fully their deeds and they shall not be dealt with unjustly (46:19).
"Second: The straight path controls all the ways. Likewise, the people of the straight path (who have been firmly established in it by Allah) do enjoy complete authority to guide the other servants of Allah. Allah says: ...and excellent are these as companions (4:69); Verily, your only Master is Allah and His Apostle and those who believe, those who keep up prayer and pay zakat while they are bowing down (5:55). The last mentioned verse was revealed about Ali, the Leader of the faithful, as al-mutawatir traditions say; and he (peace be on him) was the first to open this door in Islam…"

HOW IBLEES (SHAITAN) WORKS)..........

Feb 20, '13 10:55 AM
for everyone

In the tribe of Bani Israel, there once lived a pious worshipper.  One day, the people informed him that at a certain location, there existed a tree that was being worshipped by a tribe. When he heard this, the man flew into a rage, picked up his axe and set out to cut down the tree.

Iblees, appearing before him in the form of an old man, asked, “Where are you headed for?”  He replied, “I intend to cut down the tree, which is being worshipped so that the people worship Allah instead.”

“Hold yourself till you hear what I have to say,” said Iblees to him.

The worshipper urged him to carry on.

Iblees continued, “God has His own Prophets and if it had been essential to cutdown the tree, He would have sent them to perform the task.”

However, the worshipper did not agree with Iblees and continued on his way.

“There is no way I shall let you do it,” said Iblees angrily, and he began to wrestle with the man.  In the ensuing contest, the pious worshipper hurled Iblees onto the ground.

“Wait! I have something else to say to you”, pleaded Iblees. “Listen!  You are a poor man.  If you could possess some wealth by means of which you could give alms to the other worshippers it would be much better than cutting the tree.  If you refrain from cutting the tree, I shall place two dinars beneath your pillow everyday.”

The pious person said thoughtfully, “If you speak the truth, I shall give one dinar in charity while the other dinar I shall put to my use.  This is better than cutting down the tree; in any case, I have neither been ordered to perform this task nor am I a Prophet to burden myself with unnecessarygrief and anxiety.”

Thus, he acceded to the request of Shaitan who left him alone.

For two days, he received the two dinars and utilized them, but on the third day, there was no sign of the money.  Upset and distressed, he picked up his axe and set out to cut down the tree.

On the way, he encountered Shaitan, who asked him:  “Where are you headed for?”

“I am going to cut that tree.”

“There is no way you are going to do it,” said Shaitan.

Once again they began to contest, but this time Iblees overcame him and hurling him to the ground, ordered, “Turn back or I shall sever your head from your body.”

The pious man said, “Leave me alone and I shall return, but tell me, how was it that I hadmanaged to overcome you on the previous occasion?”

Iblees answered, “On that occasion, you had set out only for Allah and you were sincere in your intention as a result of which, Allah subjugated me for you, but this time you were angry for your own self and for your dinars and so I could overpower you.”
