Khadija had made unparalleled sacrifices for Islam. Those sacrifices "dovetailed" with the infrastructure of Islam. They strengthened the edifice of Islam and made it indestructible.
Khadija's sacrifices are emblazoned in history as qualitatively and quantitatively superior to anything anyone else in the Muslim umma might have done for Islam. She made Islam viable by her countless and uncountable sacrifices. There is a clear correlation between the support she gave to her husband and the social, economic and political success of Islam. No one else could have played this role with such skill, love, consistency, percipience, address and intuition as she did.
Khadija's sacrifices bore fruit after her death. Islam was victorious in its long struggle with paganism. The enemies of Islam were decimated, the blasphemous arrogance of the Umayyads was humbled, and their heathen ideology was demolished.
Khadija was one of the principal architects of the victory of monotheism over polytheism; of faith over materialism, and of Islam over paganism even though the story of her role in the conflict has remained, for the most part, "subliminal." It has existed only outside the conscious awareness of most of the Muslims.
In A.D. 630 Muhammed Mustafa marched into Makka as a conqueror. He and his cousin, Ali ibn Abi Talib, entered the Kaaba, cognizant of the Divine Commandment to Abraham and Ismael:
...AND WE COVENANTED WITH ABRAHAM AND  ISMAEL THAT THEY SHOULD SANCTIFY MY    HOUSE... (Quran Majid. Chapter 2; verse 125)
Muhammed and Ali found the House of God in a state of defilement; it had become the house of idols; and had to be sanctified. Therefore, in imitation of Abraham and Ismael - their prophetic forebears - Muhammed and Ali smashed all the idols and obliterated all the images in the Kaaba. They sanctified the House of God, and restored purity to it. Khadija would have equated this act of the restoration of purity to the Kaaba, by her husband and her son-in-law, with the realization of her own hopes and dreams, and it would have made her happy and proud. And how much Muhammed Mustafa must have wished that she were with him, standing by his side, to experience and to share the thrill of that blessed day when the Kaaba was rededicated to the service of Allah, after the passage of many dark centuries.
From the moment Khadija bore witness that God was One, and Muhammed was His messenger, she put her words and her deeds and her life and her death on the same "wavelength" as the Pleasure and the Will of Allah. In correlating her work and her aims with the Pleasure and the Will of Allah, she found the Supreme Triumph of her sainted life.
Bibi Khadija (S.A.)  and Ayesha
Hadhrat Ayesha was jealous not only of those wives of Muhammed Mustafa who were living at the same time and in the same house as she was, but also of a wife who was long since dead, viz., Khadija. In fact, she was more jealous of Khadija, the dead wife, than she was of any of her living co-wives. She was so jealous of Khadija that she reserved her most bitter blasts against her.
Abbas Mahmud al-Akkad says in his book, Avesha:
"Ayesha did not nurse such strong feelings of jealousy toward any wife of the Messenger of Allah as she did toward Khadija. The reason for this jealousy was that Khadija had made a place for herself in the heart of her husband which no one else could take. Muhammed Mustafa recounted her merits night and day.
Muhammed Mustafa was constantly helping the poor and the sick. On one occasion, Ayesha asked him the reason for this, and he said: "Khadija had told me to treat these people with kindness and love. It was her last wish."
When Ayesha heard this, she nared into a rage, and shouted: "Khadija! Khadija! It seems that for you there is no other woman on the face of the earth except Khadija."
The Apostle was a man of unlimited forbearance. But when he saw Ayesha's outburst, he stopped talking with her."
If this incident points up the love that Khadija had for the poor and the sick, it also points up the esteem in which she was held by Muhammed Mustafa. He acted upon her wishes, notwithstanding the overt reaction and resentment of Ayesha. He, in fact, acted upon the wishes of Khadija as long as he lived. Didn't he know that any reference to Khadija displeased Ayesha? Of course he did. Therefore, when she asked him why he was feeding the poor, clothing the naked, and comforting the cheerless, he ought to have given her a "discreet" answer, one that would not have frayed her nerves. But he didn't. He just said: "I am carrying out the wishes of Khadija."
Was this a coincidence that the last thought that Khadija had in this world, was the welfare of the poor, the sick, the orphans, the widows and the disabled? No. There is nothing coincidental about it. Everything that Khadija ever said or did, was precalculated to win the pleasure of Allah. And she knew that she could win the pleasure of Allah by giving love and service to the most vulnerable of His humble slaves.
Khadija's largess was reaching the hungry, the poor and the sick, even after her death. Her charity never came to a halt - in life or in death!
The name and image of Khadija were etched on the heart of Muhammed Mustafa, and neither the hand of time nor the tantrums of Ayesha could efface them.
Hadhrat Ayesha was aware that she could not dissuade Muhammed Mustafa from praising Khadija, and from talking about her. But this knowledge did not put a crimp upon her vis-a-vis her "anti-Khadija" stance. Abbas Mahmud al-Akkad of Egypt, relates another incident in his book, Avesha, as follows:
One day the Messenger of Allah was praising Khadija when Ayesha said: "O Messenger of Allah! Why do you talk all the time about that old woman who had inflamed gums? After all, Allah has given you better wives than her."
Muhammed Mustafa said: "No Ayesha! Allah never gave me a better wife than Khadija. She believed in me at a time when other people denied me. She put all her wealth at my service when other people withheld theirs from me. And what's more, Allah gave me children only through Khadija."
It appears that Ayesha's hatred of Khadija which she expressed so blatantly, backfired upon her. Her husband told her that Allah gave him children only through Khadija whereas his other wives could not give him any child.
To be childless, is a very painful experience for a woman. But if she is told that she is barren, the pain for her becomes a torture. And if it is her own husband who taunts her for her barrenness, then the pain becomes an agony.
But Ayesha could never repress her hatred of Khadija. She herself said once: "I have never been so jealous of any woman as I am of Khadija." She showed her jealousy over and over again, and each time she elicited from the Messenger of Allah the same anger and displeasure.
The last child of Muhammed Mustafa and Khadija was their daughter, Fatima Zahra. She was born in the fifth year of the Proclamation, and eight years before the Migration. Her brothers, Qasim and Abdullah, had died before her. It was the pleasure of Allah that the line of descent of His messenger and friend, Muhammed Mustafa, should begin with his daughter, Fatima Zahra. She was the joy of her father's heart, and the light of his eyes. He cherished her and her children as his greatest treasures. They were, for him, the epitome of the purest of all joys - both terrestrial and celestial.
From time to time, Muhammed Mustafa had to leave Medina on his campaigns. It was his invariable practice that he sent his army ahead of him, and he himself was the last one to leave the city.
The last thing that Muhammed Mustafa did before leaving Medina, was to visit his daughter, Fatima Zahra, the blessed one, and her children. He entrusted them to the protection of God, and bade them farewell.
The first thing that Muhammed Mustafa did when he returned to Medina, was to visit the house of his daughter. He invoked God's blessings upon her and her family. During his frequent absences from Medina, there was nothing that he missed so much as the children of his daughter. When he saw them, he exchanged greetings with them, kissed them, dandled them, and played with them. Once he was with them, his weariness from the campaigns, and from long marches in the dust and heat of Arabia, vanished, and he was refreshed and restored.
It was a pattern of life for Muhammed Mustafa, and he never veered from it. His emotional life revolved around the house of his daughter.
Hadhrat Ayesha didn't share her husband's love for his daughter. Abbas Mahmud al-Akkad says in his book, Avesha:
In the first place, Fatima was the daughter of Khadija; and the Messenger of Allah loved Khadija so much that he was constantly praising and complimenting her. Ayesha resented this. In the second place, Ayesha was childless. Whenever she saw her husband coddling and cuddling the children of Fatima which he was doing all the time, she was further embittered being painfully reminded of her own sterility. The relations, therefore, of Ayesha and Fatima, were not very "friendly."
The Mother of Believers Whose All Support To The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.)
Before Islam, Khadija was the Princess of Makka. When the sun of Islam rose above the horizon, Allah was pleased to make her the Princess of Islam also. Allah was also pleased to make her the Mother of the Believers, as He says in His Book:
THE PROPHET IS CLOSER TO THE BELIEVERS THAN THEIR OWN SELVES, AND HIS WIVES ARE THEIR MOTHERS.
(Chapter 33; verse 6)
Translators Note
"This Sura (chapter 33) establishes the dignity and position of the Holy Prophet's wives, who had a special mission and responsibility as Mothers of the Believers. They were not to be like ordinary women: they had to instruct women in spiritual matters, visit and minister to those who were ill or in distress, and do other kindly offices in aid of the Prophet's mission." (A. Yusuf Ali)
The title of the Mother of Believers appears to have been specifically designed for Khadija. Without Khadija, this title becomes meaningless. She and she alone gave the sacred love which a mother alone can give, to the believers. A mother may be hungry but if her children are hungry, she will feed them first. In fact, if necessary - in an exigency - she will feed her children her own share of food and will gladly go hungry. This has happened on countless occasions in history, especially during wars and famines. The fact that her children are well-fed and contented, is enough to make a mother happy and contented, and is enough to make her forget her own hunger and thirst. A mother's love is unconditional; it is all-protective, all-enveloping.
Most of the Muslims of Makka were poor. They had no source of income, and they had no means of making a living in a city the economic life of which was controlled by a cartel of idolaters. The members of the cartel had decreed that no one would pay a Muslim any wages for any work done by him, and no one would buy anything from him. They knew that material privation affected the body as well as the spirit, and they figured that when the resistance of the Muslims breaks down through economic attrition, they would repudiate Islam, and they would abandon Muhammed. A concurrent aim of this policy was to starve the Muslims. But Khadija fed the poor Muslims, day after day, so that no one among them ever went hungry, and she provided shelter to them. For her, charity was nothing new but the size and scope of the commitment were; she spent money prodigiously on the poor and the homeless Muslims of Makka, and thus foiled the aims of the cartel.
The support that Khadija gave to the Muslim community in Makka, was indispensable for the survival of Islam. Her support to the Muslim community guaranteed its survival when it was in a state of blockade. In this sense, she was a maker of history the history of Islam.
All wives of Muhammed Mustafa, the Messenger of Allah, are the Mothers of Believers; but between them and Khadija there is a basic difference. All the women he married in Medina, received a stipend from the Bavt-ul-Mal (the Public Treasury). Some of them claimed special prerogatives, and demanded "perks" from him. They said that the stipend paid to them was insufficient for their needs, and they could not buy enough food to eat from it.
Khadija, on the other hand, never asked her husband for anything. Far from asking him to bring anything for her, she made her own purse a public treasury for the Muslims. In Makka there was no Bayt-ul-Mal, and it was the boundless generosity and the unlimited wealth of Khadija that saved the Community of the Faithful from starving. She was so solicitous of the welfare of the followers of her husband that she didn't withhold even the last coin that was in her possession, and spent it on them.
May Allah bless Bibi Khadija, the Mother of the Believers, par excellence.

After Reading THIS, you'll NEVER look at a banana in the same way again!

Bananas Containing three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber, a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression:
According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS:
Forget the pills -- eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia:
High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure:
This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect way to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power:
200 students at a Twickenham school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation:
High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers:
One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn:
Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness:
Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites:
Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves:
Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work?
Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers:
The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control:
Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD):
Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking:
Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress:
Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes:
According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine," eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrates, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

A group of frogs were hopping contentedly through the woods, going about their froggy business, when two of them fell into a deep pit. All of the other frogs gathered around the pit to see what could be done to help their companions. When they saw how deep the pit was, the rest of the dismayed group agreed that it was hopeless and told the two frogs in the pit that they should prepare themselves for their fate, because they were as good as dead.

Unwilling to accept this terrible fate, the two frogs began to jump with all of their might. Some of the frogs shouted into the pit that it was hopeless, and that the two frogs wouldn't be in that situation if they had been more careful, more obedient to the froggy rules, and more responsible.

The other frogs continued sorrowfully shouting that they should save their energy and give up, since they were already as good as dead. The two frogs continued jumping as hard as they could, and after several hours of desperate effort were quite weary.

Finally, one of the frogs took heed to the calls of his fellows. Spent and disheartened, he quietly resolved himself to his fate, lay down at the bottom of the pit, and died as the others looked on in helpless grief. The other frog continued to jump with every ounce of energy he had, although his body was wracked with pain and he was completely exhausted.

His companions began a new, yelling for him to accept his fate, stop the pain and just die. The weary frog jumped harder and harder and - wonder of wonders! Finally leapt so high that he sprang from the pit. Amazed, the other frogs celebrated his miraculous freedom and then gathering around him asked, "Why did you continue jumping when we told you it was impossible?" Reading their lips, the astonished frog explained to them that he was deaf, and that when he saw their gestures and shouting, he thought they were cheering him on. What he had perceived as encouragement inspired him to try harder and to succeed against all odds.

This simple Frog story contains a powerful lesson. Your encouraging or positive words can lift someone up and help him or her make it through the day. Your destructive or negative words can cause deep wounds; they may be the weapons that destroy someone's desire to continue trying - or even their life. Your destructive, careless word can diminish someone in the eyes of others, destroy their influence and have a lasting impact on the way others respond to them.

Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib set out for Damascus (Syria) on business and took Hazrat Muhammad (saw) along when he (saw) was 12 years old. It was a massive caravan and a great number of people traveled along with a huge quantity of merchandise until they arrived in Syria and entered the city of Busra. In the vicinity of a monastery, they pitched a tent and took rest.
Bahira, a devout Christian monk, caught sight of it through his monastery's window. He observed the caravan shaded by a little cloud that kept pace with it. Bahira came out of his monastery, stood in a corner and instructed his servant, 'Go and tell them that today they are all my guests'.
All came to him but Hazrat Muhammad (saw), who was standing beside the property and equipment of the caravan. Seeing that the cloud had ceased to move, Bahira asked his guests, 'are all the members of the caravan present here?' They answered, 'All but a youth who is the youngest'. Bahira said, 'Tell him to come as well'. So he was asked to come to the monk's room. The keen eyes of Bahira noticed that the cloud over his head moved with him. Taken by surprise, Bahira kept staring at the young boy. When the meal was over, the pious monk told him, 'I have a question to ask you and you must swear by Lat and Al-Uzza to answer my question'.
Hazrat Muhammad (saw) said, 'Those two you have asked me to swear by are the most detestable things to me'. Bahira said, 'Swear by Allah to answer my question'.
Hazrat Muhammad (saw) said, 'I always speak the truth and I have never told a lie; you ask your question'.
Bahira asked: "What do you like the most"?
Hazrat Muhammad (saw) answered: "Loneliness".
Bahira asked: "What do you look the most at and what do you like to look at"?
Hazrat Muhammad (saw) said: "The sky and the stars within it".
Bahira asked: "What do you think of"?
Hazrat Muhammad (saw) remained silent, but Bahira carefully glanced at his forehead.
Bahira asked: "When do you sleep and with what thoughts"?
Hazrat Muhammad (saw) stated: "When I fix my eyes upon the sky, I see the stars and I find them in my lap and myself above them".
Bahira asked: "Do you see dream also"?
Hazrat Muhammad (saw) stated: "Whatever I see in dream, the same I see while I am awake."
Bahira asked: "What do you dream of, as an example"?
Hazrat Muhammad (saw) kept quiet, Bahira also kept quiet.
After a while, Bahira asked: "May I take a look at the centre of your shoulders"?
Hazrat Muhammad (saw), while standing still, stated: "Come and see."
Bahira stood up, came closer, and pulled the dress of Hazrat Muhammad (saw) off his shoulders. A mole appeared. Bahira took a look and said in a murmuring voice: "He is the very person".
Bahira knelt down before him and started kissing his hands and feet, saying, 'If I live till you start your divine mission, I will most faithfully aid you and fight your enemies. You are superior to all of Adam's offspring...'.
Then Bahira asked, 'whose son is this youth?' The caravan members pointed to Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib, saying, 'His son'. Bahira said, 'No. His father must be dead!'
Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib said, 'You are right. He is my nephew'. Bahira then said, 'This youth will have a brilliant, extraordinary future. If the Jews find out what I have realized about him, they will destroy him. Take great care lest the Jews should hurt him'.
Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib said, 'What is he destined to do? What have the Jews to do with him?' Bahira said, 'He is predestined to become a Hazrat, and the angel of inspiration will come down and make divine revelations to him'. Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib said, 'God will not leave him alone and will Himself protect him against the Jews and his malevolent enemies'.
Hazrat Muhammad (saw) went through the difficulties of orphanhood in his childhood with the support of his high-spirited grandfather, Hazrat Abd Al-Muttalib, and his affectionate uncle, Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib.
When Hazrat Muhammad (saw) became eight years old, Hazrat Abd Al-Muttalib passed away as well. This incident made Hazrat Muhammad (saw) very sad.
After that Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib, the master of Quraish, accepted to look after him. Although Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib was not rich, he and his honorable wife Hazrat Fatima bint Asad [the mother of Hazrat Ali (as)], tried their best in looking after Hazrat Muhammad (saw).
It seems that the heart rendering pains of orphanhood must have severely tormented his pure delicate soul. It is logical to believe that these sufferings were necessary for the foundation of his supreme character and that such difficulties taught him how to resist the hardships of life and to bear the heavy responsibility later to be put on his blessed shoulders.
As time went on, Hazrat Muhammad (saw) grew up and his childhood gave place to youth, when instincts and potentials bloom. Hazrat Muhammad (saw) received affectionate care and attention from his uncle Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib, who, due to his moral attitudes and in obedience to his father's emphatic order, protected and supported him. In fact, Hazrat Muhammad (saw) represented three things to Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib: a son, a reminder of his brother, Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abd Al-Muttalib, and of his father, Hazrat Abd Al-Muttalib. So Hazrat Muhammad (saw) became a beloved member of Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib's family, lived in his house, and was treated as his own son. To Hazrat Muhammad (saw), Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib was an affectionate father, a loyal uncle, and a compassionate preceptor. These two - uncle and nephew - were so fond of each other that their lives seemed to be intertwined. This very intense affection had caused Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib to refuse to ever part from him.
Hazrat Muhammad's (saw) presence in his uncle's house was not ordinary. Signs of his greatness could be seen everywhere. His entrance to their house brought bountiful blessings to the house of Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib. Hazrat Fatima bint Asad has said, "From the moment that Hazrat Muhammad (saw) entered our home, the tree, which had dried up for years, prospered and offered fruits."
Hazrat Abu Talib ibn Abd Al-Muttalib narrates that they would hear Hazrat Muhammad (saw) praying at nights. Though it was against the custom of Arabs to remember Allah (SWT) while eating, the little Hazrat Muhammad (saw) would not start eating or drinking unless reciting the name of Allah (SWT). He would also end his meal by thanking Allah (SWT), the exalted.

Hazrat Muhammad (saw) was born and his blessed birth gave rise to numerous wonderful incidents in the sky and on the earth, especially in the East, the cradle of civilization.
News of these events spread quickly and informed the people of an imminent, very significant incident. Since this newborn child was predestined to destroy the people's old superstitious beliefs and customs and to lay new foundations for human progress and prosperity, from the very beginning he sounded the reveille.
It is narrated that on the day which our Hazrat Muhammad (saw) was born, the following incidents happened:
  • All the idols fell down.
  • The "Kasra Veranda" (a part of the palace of Iran's King) shook and fourteen of its notches were damaged.
  • The "Saweh Lake" that people worshiped for years, dried up.
  • Water flowed in "Samaweh Desert", where no one had seen water for many years.
  • The fire in the fire-temple of Persia was extinguished, which had been flaming for several years.
  • On that night, a light came out from "Hijaz" and spread to the east.
So the humiliated worshippers of that false, destructive object of worship, whose minds had been blocked by the obstacles of prejudice an

The piety and abstemiousness is the standard of the man's value. Noble Qur'an considers all the people as equal, except for those who are decorated with the ornament of piety.
Most of the time Imam Sadiq (as) was clothed in a dress of coarse material or wool, due to which his body was in great discomfort. This woolen dress was also patched. One of his companions was disturbed on seeing him dressed thus. Imam Sadiq (as) said, "Remember, one who has no modesty, has no faith. One who also does not spend according to his income may be involved in financial hardships. One who does not wear old clothes, makes himself prone to pride."
"When Imam Sadeq (as) went out of the house he used to put on new, clean, valuable and costly dress and climb up a horse. A group of ignorant people thought this act negated the piety and asceticism. Therefore, they would come and object and when they heard the response they would be ashamed."
Narrator says, "One day I saw Imam Sadiq (as) sitting on bare floor. I said, 'O son of the Messenger of Allah, where is that floor spread on which you used to sit?' He said, 'I saw a person shivering in cold and told him if that spread could save him from cold he may take it. He said it would, so I gave it to him?' I said, 'Master! Then for how long could you continue to sit on a bare floor?' He said, 'I would not mind even if I have to sit on it all life long. O man, Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.)  often sat on the bare ground with his companions. Why are you surprised if I also sit in the same manner?'"
Malik bin Ans says, "Imam Sadiq (as) was always busy praying to God and considered to be one of the great ascetics and devoted ones."
Abdul Ala says, on a hot day of summer I saw Imam Sadiq (as) on one of the roads of Madina while he was going for a job. I said, "May I lay my life for you, why have you put yourself into inconvenience in such a hot weather, with all the faith upon God and association with Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw)?" Imam Sadiq (as) said, "I have come out for the job and to earn my livelihood, so that I must not remain needy towards others.
Another one says, "I saw Imam Sadiq (as) wearing rough dress and he was working in a garden like an ordinary labor and perspiring all over." I said to him "O son of the Messenger of Allah, allow me to work for you." Imam Sadiq (as) said, "I love working for my livelihood and to taste the hardship of the burning heat of the sun like others."

As far as the knowledge  of the Imams of Ahl al-Bayt (pbut) is concerned, it is sufficient to say that Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as) was the teacher of the two Sunni Imams, i.e., Imam Abu Hanifa (Numan ibn Thabit) and Imam Malik ibn Anas.
Imam Abu Hanifa sat in the company of Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as) for two years in Madina and learned a great deal from him, despite their disagreement after that time Abu Hanifa used to say: 'Without those two years, Numan would have perished.' Although Imam Abu Hanifa was 3 years older than Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as), he learned the various religious sciences in these two years. Malik ibn Anas also confessed straightforwardly that he had not met anyone learned in Islamic Jurisprudence better than Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as).
"Abu Hanifa al-Numan! People have become so infatuated with Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as) and placed him far too highly in their esteem. Therefore, I want you to prepare some very difficult questions which you will put to him in my presence and in front of other scholars." These were the instructions given to Abu Hanifa al-Numan by Mansur Ad-Dawaniqi the second Abbasid Caliph.
Much as he loved Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as) and respected his scholarly achievement, Abu Hanifa al-Numan had no choice but to comply with Abbasid Caliph's request. Therefore, he prepared 40 such questions and waited for a call from the Caliph, which soon arrived.
Imam Abu Hanifa went to Mansur Ad-Dawaniqi to find Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as) sitting with him as well as many other people. As he looked at Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as), he was in awe of him much more than of Abbasid Caliph.
Mansur Ad-Dawaniqi asked Abu Hanifa al-Numan to put his questions to Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as) and he did, one by one. Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as) answered all questions in detail. Needless to say, these were questions on issues subject to much controversy among scholars. Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as) said in his answer to each question, as reported by Abu Hanifa al-Numan: "You, i.e. the scholars of Iraq, say so and so, but the scholars of Madina say such and such, while our own view is the following. He may agree with us or with the scholars of Madina or may disagree with us all, elucidating his own opinion. None of the 40 questions represented any difficulty for him."
Such was the standing of Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as) whom Abu Hanifa al-Numan describes as the 'most learned scholar I have ever seen.' This is in line with Abu Hanifa al-Numan's criterion which states: "The most learned scholar is the one who knows best the differences among scholars."

Once there was a group of man - a young hot-blooded chap and a big number of old folks, doing timber job in a jungle.
This young chap is very hard working. He always continues to work through his break time and complains that those old folks were wasting time, having to break few times a day to drink and chat. As times goes by, this young chap noticed that even though he worked through break time and hardly took a rest; those old folks are chopping the same amount of trees as he did and sometimes did more than he did. It was as if those old folks work through the break time as he did. So he decided to work harder the next day. Unfortunately the results were even worse.
One day, one of the old folk invited him for a drink during their break time. That young chap refused and said he has no extra time to spend! Then the old man smiled to him and said it was just a waste of effort to keep chopping trees without re-sharpening your Axe. Sooner or later you will give up or be so exhausted as you have spent too much energy.
Suddenly the young chap realized that actually during break times while those old folks were having a chat, they were also re-sharpening their Axe at the same time! And that"s how they can chop faster than him and yet spending lesser time! The old folk said what we need is efficiency by making use of our skill and ability intelligently. Only then can we have more times to do other things.
Otherwise you will always keep saying ... I have no time!
But by taking a break, it is not to stop work but to rest and re-think our strategy

In Allah’s sight the most disgusted among the people is a person who submits to faith and then disbelieves.

The one aware of oppression, the aide to it, and the pleased with it, all three are partners.

Imam Reza(A.S): Wealth does not (excessively) accumulate but by having five traits: extreme miserliness, high expectations, overwhelming greed, breaking off ties with one's kindred, and preferring this world to the next.(Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 73, p. 138)

Imam Reza(A.S): Wealth does not (excessively) accumulate but by having five traits: extreme miserliness, high expectations, overwhelming greed, breaking off ties with one's kindred, and preferring this world to the next.(Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 73, p. 138)

Imam Hussein (A.S) seventy rewards are the share of the one who initiates a 'greeting' and only one reward belongs to the one who returns the 'greeting'." (When two people see each other, the initiator of the exchange of greetings receives a greater reward (Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 78, p. 120)

The Exalted Glorious God likes , among his believer slaves , the slave who makes supplication a lot ; so make supplication at dawn till sun - rise , because , that is the time when the doors of heaven are open , provisions are distributed and great needs are fulfilled .(Al - Kafi , Vol . 2 , P . 478) Imam Baqir (A.S)

'It is compulsory for every Muslim to conceal even seventy great faults of his fellow Muslims (in order to save his prestige).' (His faults should be dealt with personally but not be spread among the members of society).
Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 74, p. 301

Whoever makes his secret intentions righteous God will make his outer conduct righteous.

Among the things which expiate the major wrong actions are helping the unfortunate and relieving someone's affliction

'Anas-ibn-Mlaik narrates from the Messenger of Allah [sa] who said: ‘Accept six things from me, then I will accept (and guarantee) the entrance of Heaven for you:
1. When you speak, tell no lies.
2. When you promise, do not break it.
3. When you are trusted (by others), be honest.
4. Lower your eyes (from committing sin).
5.Guard your modesty.
6. Hold your hands and tongues.’

The Holy Prophet (saws) said: ‘He who grieves a true Muslim cannot then compensate for it by offering him the entire world because it is not sufficient compensation (unless he repents and appeases the said person).'

The Holy Prophet  peace upon him said: "The most perfect of the believers in faith  are the best of them in morals And the best among them are those who are best to their wives."

And faith means performing & discharging the obligatory duties & avoiding the committing of forbidden acts & faith is the recognition & knowing Allah through the heart & admitting & confessing through the tongue & practicing through the parts of body (physically).

Imam Ali (a.s.) said O you who carry knowledge around with you; are you only carrying it around with you? For surely knowledge belongs to who ever know and then acts accordingly, so that his action corresponds to his knowledge. There will be a people who will carry knowledge around with them, but it will not pass beyond their shoulders.

The Lord doth not regard a prayer in which the heart doth not accompany the body.
Allah, the Majestic the Wise, says: ... who in their spending are neither extravagant nor stingy but maintain moderation. (Holy Qur'an 25:67). Have you not seen that Allah the Elevated disgrace the act of preferring others that you are appealing to, and describe those who prefer others to themselves as excessive. In more than one occasion, Allah says in the Quran: Allah does not love those who are excessive.(Holy Qur'an 6:141).

Allah warns against excessiveness and stinginess. He instructs to attain moderation. One should not give all what he has as alms and then pray to Allah to give him, because, in such cases, Allah will not respond to him.

This is proved through the hadith that is related to the Prophet(S.A.W.): "Certain categories of people of my umma will not be answered when they supplicate (to Allah): a man who curses his parents, a man who curses him who took his property without (formal) contract and witnesses, a man who curses his wife while he can divorce her, and a man who sits in his house and pray to Allah to give him sustenance and avoid going out for seeking earnings. For such a man, Allah, the Majestic the Powerful, says: 'O My servant, I have made it possible for you to take courses into seeking earnings, I have given you enough power, when I gave you sound organs, for roaming in lands (for working); therefore, you have no excuse to avoid seeking earnings and following my instructions, so that you will not be an additional burden on your folks. I may bestow upon you if I will and may deprive you if I will. Finally, you are not enjoying any obligation that is incumbent upon Me in this regard.'

Another category of people whose supplications are not answered is that man whom Allah had bestowed upon him with abundant sustenance, but he spent all of it as alms then he was praying to Allah to give him sustenance. For such a man, Allah says: 'I have given you abundant sustenance. You should have dealt with your wealth moderately as I ordered you to do. You should not have been so exaggerative after I warned you against exaggeration.'

The last category of people whose supplication is not answered is those who supplicate to Allah in a matter that results in disregard of relations."

After that, Allah instructed His Prophet(S.A.W.) how to spend as alms. The Prophet was not relieved as long as he was about to spend a whole night keeping an oke of gold in his house; therefore, he gave it as alms before morning. The next morning, a beggar came to him, but he did not have anything to give. The beggar then blamed him for so and he(S.A.W.) felt depressed, because he was so merciful and compassionate. Hence, Allah instructed His Prophet(S.A.W.) by saying: Do not be stingy nor over generous lest you become empty handed and bankrupt. (Holy Qur'an 17:29).

This means that people usually ask from you and would not excuse you (if you have nothing to give them). If you give all of that which you have under your hands, you will have nothing to give.

The previous were the sayings of the Prophet(S.A.W.) that are testified by the Book (of Allah) that is testified by its faithful people.

The Prophetic tradition of the two weighty things The messenger of Allah (saw) said, O People, I leave amongst you two things which if you follow, you will never go astray. They are the Book of Allah and my Ahl al-Bayt [family].

He also said: The messenger of my God is about to come to me and I shall answer. I am leaving with you the two weighty things: The first is the Book of Allah, in which you find guidance and enlightenment, and the people of my household. I remind you, by Allah, of the people of my household... I remind you by Allah of the people of my household." [95] [95]

  • He who treats people kindly will be accepted as arbiter.
  • To trust everybody in times of injustice and cheating is disability.
  • If problems are added to each other, they will give birth of relief.
  • To recognize the actuality of your friend, you should enrage him. If he keeps up his friendship, he is true friend lest, he is false.
  • Do not appreciate one's affection before you enrage him three times.
  • Do not trust your friend perfectly, because the knockdown of the trustful is incurable.
  • Islam is a definite rank. Faith is one rank higher than Islam. Conviction is one rank higher than faith. People have been given a rank lower than conviction.
  • To remove a mountain is easier than removing faith.
  • The desire for the worldly pleasures causes grief and sadness. Abstinence from the worldly pleasures brings about the rest of both heart and body.
  • Life is to rent a house and buy bread.
  • He who gains oppression is not gaining welfare. He who mistreats people should not complain when people mistreat him.
  • In homelands, exchanging visits is the means of association. In travel, correspondence is the means of association.
  • A believer is not perfectly virtuous unless he enjoys three characters knowledge ability of the religious affairs, moderation in living, and steadfastness against misfortunes.
  • An actual believer is that whose sexual appetite does not overcome him and whose stomach does not shame him.
  • A twenty-year friendship is kinship.
  • Favors should be done only to the highborn or the religious. Those who show gratitude are very few.
  • Enjoining good and forbidding evil should be practiced with a faithful believer that he would learn a lesson, or an ignorant that he would earn. Enjoining good and forbidding evil become surely worthless when they are applied to the powerful tyrants.
  • As some people showed ingratitude for Allah's graces, He changed the graces into crises. As other people showed steadfastness against the misfortunes that inflicted them, Allah changed the misfortunes into graces.
  • Imam As-Sadiq(A.S.) was asked about personality, he answered: Personality stands for that Allah should not see you in situations against which He warned, and miss you in situations of which He ordered.
  • Thank him who did you favor, and confer upon him who thanked you. Graces that are shown gratitude will not be removed while those that are shown ingratitude will not persist. Thanks increase the graces and saves against poverty.
  • To miss a need is better than asking it from other than its people. Bad mannerism in a misfortune is more catastrophic than the misfortune itself.
  • As a man asked him a short item of instruction that collects the welfare of this world and the world to come, the Holy Imam (A.S.) said: Never tell untruths.
  • Imam As-Sadiq (A.S.) was asked about eloquence. He answered: Eloquence is to express the idea in as few as possible words. The eloquent is that who attains his demand in the least effort.
  • Debt is grief at night and humility in day.
  • If your worldly demands are attainable, you should check your religion.

  • Salutation is voluntary while responding is obligatory.
  • Do not answer those who speak before they greet you.
  • Shaking hands is the perfect greeting of the resident and embracement is the perfect greeting of the traveler.
  • Shake hands, because this will confiscate malice.
  • Fear Allah even if to some extent. Construct a screen between Him and you even if transparent.
  • As for those who control themselves in rage, desire, fear, and lust, Allah will prevent Hell from burning their bodies.
  • Everything has limits. The limit of conviction is not to fear anything besides Allah.
  • The (Faithful) believer should enjoy eight characters; he should be venerable in shaking situations, steadfast against misfortunes, thankful in luxury, satisfied with what Allah has decided to him, avoid oppressing the enemies, avoid over tasking the associates, should fatigue his body, and make people feel glad with him.
  • Knowledge is the comrade of the faithful believer, clemency is his supporter, patience is the commander of his army, lenience is his brother, and charity is his father.
  • As for those who practice without guidance, they are like him who walks without choosing a definite path. The more he walks, the remoter he becomes.
  • He who recognizes Allah accurately will fear Him. He who fears Allah accurately will disregard the worldly pleasures.
  • The actual fearful is that who cannot speak due to the intensity of fear.
  • We love those who are intelligent. Knowledgeable, perceptive, expert, clement, courteous, patient, veracious, and loyal. Allah gave the noble characters exclusively to the prophets(a.s). He who enjoys such characters should thank Allah for them. He who does not enjoy them should supplicate to Allah for them. As he was asked about these noble characters, Imam As-Sadiq(A.S.) said: The noble characters are piety, satisfaction, patience, gratefulness, clemency, pudency, generosity, bravery, enthusiasm, veracity, charity, fulfillment of the trusts, conviction, good mannerism, and chivalry.

  • Everything has its tax and the tax of knowledge is to teach its people.
  • Beware of associating with the lowly, because the association with them will never lead to welfare.
  • To wear rings on the fingers is a prophetic tradition.
  • The most favorable friend to me is that who shows me my flaws.
  • Friendship is nil unless its limits are kept. He who does not keep these limits should not be regarded as friend. The first limit is that the inner self and the appearance should be identical. The second limit is that the friend should regard your goodness as his goodness and your evil as his evil. The third limit of friendship is that a position or fortunes should not change the friend's relation with his friends. The fourth limit is that the friend should not deprive his friend of anything that he is capable of doing. The fifth limit which is the most comprehensive is that the friend should never leave his friend alone in calamities.
  • The believers laughter should be only a smile.
  • There is no difference between depositing a trust with a betrayer or a negligent.
  • Imam As-Sadiq(A.S.) said to Al-Mufaddal: I instruct you to stick on six characters and relate them to my adherents-Shia. You should fulfill the trust of him who entrusts you with anything. You should like for your brother whatever you like for yourself. You should know that every matter has an end; therefore, you should beware of the outcomes of matters. Similarly, every matter has a sudden event; hence, beware of the sudden events. Beware of climbing an easy mountain if its slope is uneven. Never promise your brother of a matter that you cannot fulfill.
  • People are equal like the teeth of a comb. With the support of his brothers, a man can be regarded as great. No goodness is expected in the friendship of those who do not like for their friends whatever they like for themselves.
  • You should regard him who became angry with you three times without addressing any bad saying to you as a true friend.
  • You will not be faithful believer before you become fearful and hopeful. You will not be fearful and hopeful before you work for what you fear and hope.
  • Faith is not identified through outer appearances and hopes. Faith is that which is pure in the hearts and assured by deeds.
  • If a man is more than thirty year old, he is middle-aged. If he is more than forty year old, he is old man.
  • Whenever Allah opens a door to the worldly pleasures, He will open to acquisitiveness.
  • The believer is strange in this world. He should not feel worry of its humility and should not compete with its people for gaining its honor.
  • Hasty walking removes the believer's brightness and extinguishes their illumination.
  • Allah surely hates the oppressive wealthy man.
  • Rage eliminates the intelligence of the wise. He who cannot control his rage will not be able to control his mind.
  • The niggardly is that who gains wealth illegally and spends it unsuitably.
  • Good mannerism is a part of the religion. It increases the earnings.
  • Morals are of two forms: one is intent while the other is nature. Imam As-Sadiq(A.S.) was asked, "Which of them is better than the other?" He answered: The intentional morals are better than the natural, because the owner of natural morals cannot change them, while the owner of the intentional morals is preserving the acts of obedience (to Allah).
  • The actual generous charitable individual is that who spends his wealth for fulfilling the rights of Allah.
  • You should know that I will fulfill the trust of even the killer of Ali(A.S.) if he deposits something with me or seeks my advice of consultation.
  • Sufian said: I asked Abu-Abdullah (A.S.) whether it is acceptable to praise oneself or not. He answered: It is acceptable to praise oneself in cases of necessity. Joseph the prophet (A.S.) said: Put me in charge of the treasuries of the land. I know how to manage them. (Holy Qur'an 12:55). The virtuous servant (of Allah) also said: I am a trustworthy advisor for you. (Holy Qur'an 7:68).
  • Mohammed bin Qays said: I asked Abu-Abdullah(A.S.) whether it is acceptable to sell weapon to the two parties both of whom are wrong. Holy Imam(A.S.) said: Sell to them only defensive weapons: armors, shields, helmets, and the like.
  • Allah gives the worldly pleasures to those whom He loves as well as those whom He dislikes, while He gives the faith only to whom He selects among the creatures.
  • Abu-Baseer related: I asked Abu-Abdullah (A.S.) about faith and Islam. He answered: Faith is the avoidance of acts of disobedience to Allah. Islam is to practice our rites and slaughter animals as we do.
  • Bad-temperedness, bad humor, envy, obduracy, fabrication and oppression these six characters should never be in the believers behavior.
  • The believer should live between two fears the past sin that he does not know what Allah will do about it and the remaining days that he does not know what misfortunes he will encounter during them. Thus, the believer begins his day fearfully and ends his day fearfully. Except fear, nothing mends the believer.
  • You will not be regarded as (true) believers before you see the misfortunes as graces and the luxury as disaster.
  • The possession of four thousand dirhams is fortune. The possession of twelve thousand dirhams is treasuring up. Twenty thousand dirhams cannot be amassed by legal ways. The possessor of thirty thousand dirhams will surely be suffering perdition. The possessors of one hundred thousand dirhams are definitely not reckoned with our adherents Shia.
  • The best deeds of the servants are three: they are to treat the believers fairly, to console the friends, and to mention Allah in every situation. Some asked: "What is the meaning of mentioning Allah in every situation?" The Imam (A.S.) answered: This means to mention Allah when you want to commit a sin so that He will prevent you from committing it.
  • Beware of joking, because it causes rancor and drives into malice. Joking is the lesser revilement.
  • Younus related: Before Imam as-Sadiq(A.S.) I said: My loyalty to you - the Holy Prophet's family - and recognition of your rights are most favorable to me than this world with all of its insides." I noticed the Holy Imam (A.S.) was enraged. After a while, he (A.S.) said: O Younus, you have evaluated us in an improper measurement. What is the world and what are its insides? It is no more than relief of a trouble or screening of a defect. By loyalty to us, you are gaining the endless life.
  • In misfortunes, Imam As-Sadiq(A.S.) used to say: All praise is due to Allah Who did not make my misfortune in my religious affairs. All praise is due to Allah Who could, if He willed, make my misfortune more catastrophic than what it is now. All praise is due to Allah for the matter that He willed to be, and it was as He willed.
  • If the world advances to some people, it will garb them with the others' charms. If it leaves some people, it usurps their own charms.
  • Daughters are advantages and sons are graces. You will be rewarded for the advantages and asked about the graces.

Knowledge enables its possessor to distinguish what is forbidden from what is not; lights the way to Heaven; it is our friend in the desert, our companion in solitude, our companion, when benefit of friends; it guides us to happiness; it sustains us in misery; it is our ornament in the company of friends; it serves as an armor against our enemies. • The five stated prayers erase the sins which have been committed during the intervals between them if they have not been mortal sins.

  • The love of the world is the root of all evils.
  • Wealth properly employed is a blessing; and a man may lawfully endeavor to increase it by honest means.

Though a Prophet and a King, Muhammad was the man of the common people. He sat and ate with them, shared their joys and sorrows, helped the weak, widows and orphans and sympathized with the distressed. He found the world sunk deep in degrading ignorance, superstition, vice and cruelty. He saw people disunited and engaged in perpetual wars, practising most revolting cruelties; daughters were buried alive and the widows of their fathers were inherited or sold by the eldest son. Among all this chaos, Muhammad (s) established order and inspired in them the belief of One God; prohibited idolatry and made them think, not only of this world, but beyond the grave on a higher, purer and diviner plain, asking them to practice charity, goodness, justice, reasonableness and universal love. The whole mission was achieved in his lifetime.
