WAYS TO REDUCE WRINKLES | for everyone |
Ways To Reduce WRINKLES
Sleep On Your Back ?
The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) cautions that sleeping in certain positions night after night leads to
"sleep lines" -- wrinkles that become etched into the surface of the skin and don't disappear once you're up.
Sleeping on your side increases wrinkles on cheeks and chin, while sleeping facedown gives you a furrowed brow.
To reduce wrinkle formation, sleep on your back.
Eat More Fish -- Particularly Salmon ?
Not only is salmon (along with other cold-water fish) a great source of protein -- one of the building blocks of
great skin -- it's also an awesome source of an essential fatty acid known as omega-3.
Essential fatty acids nourish skin and keep it plump and youthful, helping to reduce wrinkles.
Don't Squint -- Get Reading Glasses! ?
The AAD says repetitive facial movement -- like squinting -- overworks facial muscles, forming a groove beneath the skin's surface.
This groove eventually becomes a wrinkle. Keep those eyes wide: Wear reading glasses if you need them.
And get savvy about sunglasses, which can protect skin around the eyes from sun damage
and keep you from squinting.
Slather On Alpha-hydroxy Acids (AHAs)?
These natural fruit acids lift away the top layer of dead skin cells, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles,
particularly around the eyes. New evidence shows that in higher concentrations,
AHAs may help stimulate collagen production.
Trade Coffee for Cocoa ?
In a study published in a 2006 issue of the Journal of Nutrition, researchers found that cocoa containing
high levels of two dietary flavonols (epicatchin and catechin) protected skin from sun damage,
improved circulation to skin cells, affected hydration, and made the skin look and feel smoother. Delicious!
Don't Over-Wash Your Face
According to dermatologists at the University of Maryland Medical Center, tap water strips skin of its natural
barrier oils and moisture that protect against wrinkles. Wash them off too often, and you wash away protection.
And unless your soap contains skin-protecting moisturizers, use a facial cleanser instead of soap.
Try Topical Vitamin C ?
Studies at Tulane University, among others, have found that vitamin C can increase collagen production,
protect against damage from UVA and UVB rays, correct pigmentation problems, and improve inflammatory skin conditions.
The key, however, may be the type of vitamin C used. To date, most research points to L-ascorbic acid
as the most potent for wrinkle relief
Eat More Soy ?
Research shows that soy may help protect against or heal some of the sun's photoaging damage.
One study, published in the European Journal of Nutrition, reported that a soy-based supplement
(whose ingredients also included vitamins, fish protein, and extracts from white tea, grapeseed, and tomato)
improved the skin's structure and firmness after just six months.
Practice Good Skin Care Basics ?
If you really want to keep your skin looking young, start with the essentials.
You've heard these recommendations before, but they bear repeating:
* Avoid the sun
* Wear sunscreen
* Don't smoke
* Use moisturizer

Top 14 websites for students | for everyone |
Top 14 websites for students
If you want to a see a blank look on students’ faces, ask them about the Dewey Decimal library classification system. For better or for worse, the Internet has become the alternative to a library card catalog for browsing and locating resources. But how do you navigate that system, and how can you trust what you read on the web?
"Frankly, this is my main concern, along with stumbling onto inappropriate material," admits Bonnie Marks, a mother of two. "Just because someone publishes something on their home page, it doesn't make it gospel—many kids don't know this."
Learning how to find the information you need on the Internet, and how to evaluate and appropriately use the information you find, can be challenging for both parents and students. The following is a look at some of the most comprehensive—and reliable—educational websites a student can bookmark and use to research school projects and homework assignments.
Web literacy and general reference
All students—no matter what age—need help navigating and evaluating the ever-growing store of information available on the web. This University of Idaho site is an information literacy primer that will quickly turn any half-hearted or random searcher into a savvy Internet detective. It guides students through a series of modules that teach them how to distinguish different kinds of information on the Internet, search for and select research topics, search databases and other collections, locate and cite sources, and evaluate the sources they find.
A merger of the Internet Public Library and the Librarians' Internet Index, this site is a comprehensive source of "information you can trust." Thousands of volunteer library and information science professionals created and maintain the site’s reference collections—sets of links to websites on U. S. presidents, author biographies, museums, research and writing, literary criticism, and many more topics. The Ask an ipl2 Librarian reference service, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, provides individualized help finding authoritative, free online sources for specific topics.
Checking facts in Internet sources is one of the key ways to evaluate them, and Refdesk.com, which stands for "reference desk," simplifies this essential step. Since 1995, Refdesk.com has served as a one-click springboard to many of the web's top dictionaries, encyclopedias, calculators, atlases, news headlines, and search engines. The site also includes a handy Homework Helper section (under the Help and Advice column on the lower right of the page) that provides help in all subjects to students in every grade.
For younger students who are not quite ready to navigate Refdesk, Fact Monster from Information Please is the tool to use. The Reference Desk on this site features a layout that is designed for easy fact-finding and includes timelines and an almanac, atlas, dictionary, and encyclopedia, as well as a Homework Center. Students can also search by visually identified topics or by typing in keywords. Check out fun features such as Biographies of the Presidents, the Geography Hall of Fame, and the Tallest Buildings Slideshow.
Consider the Microsoft Download Center your ultimate file repository. It links to tens of thousands of downloadable free or shareware programs. These include updates, utilities, applications, and extras for Windows, Macintosh, and other platforms; Internet tools; security essentials; developer resources; mobile devices; and, of course, computer games. You can search for what you need alphabetically, by product family, by download category, or by typing in a keyword. The Microsoft Worldwide Downloads site enables you to download files in more than 80 different languages.
This site is the cool place for the technology leaders of the future. It offers student resources, helps students stay connected through its newsletters and technology clubs, and provides a career portal and Students-to-Business program. The links to scholarship competitions and to TechStudent—a site for website builders, designers, and software developers in training—encourage creativity and skill development. The Student Experience site also links to DreamSpark, which enables students not only to download professional software such as Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL Server, Visual C++ Express Edition, and Robotics Developer Studio for free but provides free training for using these tools as well.
English and history
Sprechen Sie Deutsch? Perfect for language studies, this handy website automatically converts text from one language into another, such as English to Simplified Chinese or French to English. You can type and paste up to 10,000 characters (about 1,800 words) into the search window and then select the desired language. Or cut and paste a web URL to convert the entire site.
As every parent and student knows, books that are required reading are not always available, or if they are, students may misplace their copy before they finish the assignment. Project Gutenberg to the rescue. This site enables you to download more than 30,000 free electronic books to read on your computer, iPhone, Kindle, Sony Reader, or other portable device in a variety of file formats. You can search by title and author or browse their collection of classic works, many of which are available in audio editions as well.
This site, sponsored by Fordham University and edited by Paul Halsall, provides older students with access to a collection of public domain and copy-permitted historical texts for educational use. It includes collections of primary sources in ancient, medieval, and modern history, as well as history of science, women's history, African history, and others.
The web's answer to those black- and yellow-striped Cliff Notes is Novelguide.com, a reliable and free source for literary analysis of classic and contemporary books such as Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn and Fyodor Dostoyevsky's Notes from the Underground. The site offers character profiles, metaphor and theme analysis, and author biographies.
This website can be filed in the "where was this when I was a kid?" category. On this aptly named site, visitors can read every play or poem from the world's most celebrated writer and, more importantly, make some sense of his works with free analysis, Old English language translations, and famous quotes.
Math and science
This site provides help in a number of mathematics-related subjects, including basic grade-school math, calculus, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics. Practice exercises are automatically graded—and this free site also features a glossary, calculators, homework tips, math games, and lesson plans for teachers.
Science classes—including the ubiquitous science project—aren't as easy for some to grasp as they are for others. At Science Made Simple, elementary and middle school students can get detailed answers to many science questions, read current news articles related to science, get ideas on school projects, and take advantage of unit conversion tables. Users can also find out if their school's textbooks pass the test.

THE CELEBRATION OF EID-UL-FITR | for everyone |
Eid-ul-Fitr is linked with the Holy month of Ramadan. It signifies the end of the month of fasting. In view of the great significance attached to this day of Eid, numerous traditions consisting of prayers and worship of God on this day, have been quoted from the Holy Prophet and his Ahl-al-Bait. Taking a solemn bath (Ghusl) on the night preceding Eid is highly recommended (Sunnat). This is a night of great sanctity and profound virtues, and should be preferably spent in worship and prayer to God. Imam Zainul Abedin (A.S.) used to spend this whole night in devotion, and has said: "This night is as important as that of Shab-e-Qadr" (that is to say, the odd night towards the latter part of Ramadan when the Holy Qur'an was first revealed to our Holy Prophet [S.A.W.]). It is quoted from the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) that "one who offers six Rakat prayers on this night reciting in each Rakat Sura 'Al-Hamd' once and Sura 'Qul Huwallah' five times God will pardon his sins". Haris Aawar narrates that Hazrat Ali (A.S.), on this night, after Maghrib prayers, used to offer two Rakats prayers. In the first one he used to recite Sure 'Al-Hamd' once and Sura 'Qul Huwallah' one hundred times, and in the other both the Suras only once. After completion of the prayers he would bow his head in prostration and recite "Atubo Ellallah" 100 times and then would say, "I swear by one (God)! He has the sole command over my life". Whoever will, in this way, offer two Rakats prayers, the Beneficent will positively fulfill any wish begged from Him. (Aamal-e-Shabe Eid Al-Fitr) The conception of Eid in Islam is not confined only to celebration extravagance, luxurious feasts, friendly handshakes and embraces. The Muslims should rather devote this day to the worship of God and should beseech Him to approve their virtuous deeds and forgive their sins. This is because the doors of God's pardon are kept open this day and His Blessings are bountiful. Once Imam Hassan (A.S.) noticed some folks in a most jovial mood merry making on the occasion of Eid. He, turning to his companions said. "God has made this month of Ramadan, a course of action for His slaves to render their due homage to their Lord and earn His pleasure. Some of them who have fasted successfully reached their goal, and those who did not fast have lingered behind and have missed a golden opportunity. When reward is assured for fasting, how strange it is on the part of those who do not fast to indulge in idle pastimes. I swear by God, if the curtains of Divination (Ghaib) wore to be lifted today, both the virtuous and the sinful could afford the physical sight of the rewards of their good and evil deeds respectively". |

IEID UL FITR MUBARAK TO YOU ALL | for everyone |
May Almighty Allah s(s.t.) bless you and your entire family on this auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. May He accept your fasts, prayers and the good deeds performed during the Holy Month of Mahe Ramadan. May Allah (s.t.) keep us on right path and keep us all in the guidance of our 12th Imam (A.S.) to keep performing all the good acts at all times as shown to us by our 14 Masoomins (a.s.) Ilahi Ameen.
"O people! Verily this day of yours is the day when the righteous are awarded and the wretched are losers. It is a day which is similar to the one on which you shall be standing (before your Lord). Therefore, when you come out of your homes to go to places of your prayer, remind yourselves about the day when you (your souls) shall come out of your bodies to go to your Lord. When you stand on places of your prayer, remind yourselves of your standing in presence of your Lord (on the day of Judgement). And when you return to your homes (after prayer), remind yourselves about your returning to your homes in Paradise. O Servants of Allah! Verily the minimum reward for those men and women who fasted (during Ramadhan), is an Angel, who calls out to them on the last day of the month of Ramadhan (saying): O SERVANTS OF ALLAH! REJOICE THE GLAD TIDING THAT ALL YOUR PREVIOUS SINS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN. Therefore, watch out in those things which serve as your re-creation (on this day and days to follow)" (Nahjul-Balaghah)

W.House: Koran-burning pastor a "desperate man" (MAY ALLAH (S.T.)'S CURSE BE ON HIM AND ALL WHO JOIN IN THIS ACT)

The White House on Thursday described a Florida pastor who has threatened to burn copies of the Koran as a "desperate man" who craved attention.
"This is a desperate man seeking the attention of the better part of the world," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said at a news briefing. "There are more people at his press conferences than listen to his sermons," he said.(Reporting by Alister Bull; Editing by Patricia Zengerle)

Obama warns Koran-burning would boost al Qaeda
Thu, Sep 9 07:41 PM
President Barack Obama warned on Thursday that an obscure U.S. Christian pastor's plan to burn the Koran on Sept. 11 could provoke al Qaeda suicide bombings, and Asian countries urged Washington to prevent the act.
"This is a recruitment bonanza for al Qaeda," Obama said in an ABC television interview. "You could have serious violence in places like Pakistan or Afghanistan. This could increase the recruitment of individuals who would be willing to blow themselves up in American cities or European cities."Terry Jones, leader of a Protestant church of about 30 members in Gainesville, Florida, is planning to burn copies of the Islamic holy book on Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on New York and Washington.
His threat has caused alarm around the world and raised tensions over the 9/11 anniversary, which this year coincides with the Muslim Eid al-Fitr festival ending the fasting month of Ramadan. The United States is also gripped by debate over plans for an Islamic centre near the attack site in Manhattan.
India, prone to sectarian strife, called on the U.S. government on Thursday to stop Jones from carrying out his plan. The president of Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, urged Obama to step in personally.
"We hope that the U.S. authorities will take strong action to prevent such an outrage being committed," Indian Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram said in a statement. He asked the media to refrain from showing pictures of the burning.
In Jakarta, an aide to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said he had written to Obama asking him to intervene.
"President Yudhoyono thinks that if this was allowed to happen, it will disturb world peace," Heru Lelono told Reuters.
But Obama said there was little that could be done under U.S. law to confront the minister, other than citing him under local bylaws against public burning.
RISK TO U.S. TROOPS
Jones has said he sees Koran-burning as a way of confronting Islamist terrorism. But his plans have been widely condemned by U.S. religious, political and military leaders, who say it is jeopardizing the security of U.S. military personnel abroad.
"I just want him to understand that this stunt that he is talking about pulling could greatly endanger our young men and women in uniform who are in Iraq, who are in Afghanistan," Obama said on "Good Morning America".
"We're already seeing protests against Americans just by the mere threat that he's making," the president said, urging Jones to listen to "those better angels".
Two top U.S. commanders in Afghanistan have said the plan by Jones's Dove World Outreach Center risked undermining Obama's efforts to reach out to the world's 1.5 billion Muslims. General David Petraeus, commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, said the act could endanger his troops.
The Convocation of American Churches in Europe also said Christians living in majority Muslim countries would be at risk of reprisals.
In the United States, an FBI intelligence bulletin dated Aug. 19 said the Koran-burning "might inspire retaliatory attacks against U.S. facilities overseas".
The World Council of Churches, representing 349 branches of Christianity, added its voice to condemnations of Jones' plans.
"This call has been firmly rejected and condemned by the WCC and its member churches, ecumenical partners, including in the United States as well as by people of faith and good will elsewhere," the umbrella group said in a statement.
Jewish leaders have also condemned the action, saying it recalled the Nazi German burning of books in the 1930s, a prelude to the Holocaust in which 6 million Jews were killed.
"The burning of the book holy to the world's Muslims is morally repugnant," said the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Jewish human rights organisation founded by a famous hunter of Nazi war criminals.
CARTOON FURORE
Streets were quiet in the Afghan capital on Thursday as Eid al-Fitr celebrations approached. But police have been put on alert after angry demonstrations earlier this week when hundreds of Afghans, mostly students from religious schools, gathered outside a Kabul mosque chanting "Death to America".
Such protests have turned violent in Afghanistan several times in the past few years, with dozens of people killed as security forces fought to regain control.
One such outburst was sparked when a Danish newspaper published a cartoon depicting the Prophet Mohammad in 2005.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel attended an award ceremony on Wednesday for the Dane whose caricature provoked protests that led to 50 deaths. Her tribute to freedom of speech drew criticism from some Muslims in Germany.
President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria, a country that has been repeatedly scarred by Muslim-Christian violence, urged U.S. authorities and "men and women of good will" around the world to prevail on Jones to abandon his plan.
"This action can not be justified at anytime and certainly is doubly unjustified coming at the holy month of Ramadan. I would urge Pastor Jones to be mindful of the Golden Rule taught by Jesus Christ: Do unto others as you would want others to do unto you," Jonathan said on his Facebook page.
Pakistan "urged the international community to discourage this fanatic approach and take steps to stop these fundamentalists", a Foreign Office spokesman said in an Associated Press of Pakistan report.

Ayatollah Safi Golpaygani Authorizes Donation of Part of Khums to Pakistan Flood Victims |

Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi Golpayegani has issued a statement authorizing that a third of the Imam's share of the khoms charity tax be donated to help victims of the floods in Pakistan. In the statement issued on Saturday, Ayatollah Lotfollah Golpayegani offered his condolences to the families of victims of the natural disaster in Pakistan and gave permission for a third of the Imam's share to be donated as humanitarian assistance to the Muslim people of Pakistan. Iran has so far sent 142 tons of humanitarian assistance shipments to Pakistan. Around 84 tons of the supplies were sent via air while another 58 tons were transported through the border. A plane load of Iran's 3rd humanitarian relief batch, prepared by Iranian Red Crescent Society, was forwarded to flood stricken victims in Pakistan on Wednesday. Secretary General of the Red Crescent Society told IRNA while the Iranians' contributions were being loaded on the plane to be dispatched to Pakistan, "41 tons of the most needed items for the flood victims, such as tents, food stuff, floor covering, blankets and garments, are being loaded on this plane." Zaher Rostami added, "Keeping in mind the huge dimensions of this devastating flood the president issued a state order to accelerate the assisting process to the flood victims, according to which so far 140 tons of required items have been sent to Pakistan. He added, "The first batch, comprised of 58 tons was forwarded in the shortest possible time, in less than 10 hours, by land and the second batch, comprised of 42 tons, was sent from Tehran by land on Tuesday night." The official said that Iran's philanthropist contributions would continue and by the end of the week at least six more batches would be sent to Pakistan. He said that the reason why Bandar Abbas was chosen for forwarding this 3rd batch was the capability of the Hormozgan Province in preparing humanitarian contributions, whose Red Crescent Society prepared and packed some 41 tons of humanitarian aided in less than 24 hours. The number of people affected by catastrophic floods in Pakistan may outnumber those suffering from the recent major natural disasters -- the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 South Asia earthquake and the 2010 Haiti earthquake, the United Nations said here on Monday. "The number of people affected by Pakistan's floods is now estimated to be 13.8 million, according to the government of Pakistan," said a press release from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). "While not all may be in need of immediate humanitarian assistance, and the severity of their needs has not yet been fully assessed, this is a higher figure than those who were affected by the 2005 South Asia tsunami (five million), the 2005 South Asia earthquake (three million), or the 2010 Haiti earthquake (three million)," the press release said. "The estimate of homes destroyed or seriously damaged -- 290,000 -- is almost the same as those destroyed in Haiti." The floods have so far killed more than 1,600 people, forced two million from their homes, and affected the lives of about 15 million people. A third of Pakistan is now under water, and new rains threaten two more waves of flooding in the southern province of Sindh. Sources: ABNA & IRNA |

Q. How much should we pay for Fitrah?
A. Fitrah for a person is given on a weight of three kilograms (one sa`a) on any food commodity like wheat, barley, rice, millet, raisins or dates. Ayatullah Seestani is of the opinion that the item that is not a staple food in your town should not be given in Fitrah. Say, for example, if millet is not a staple in Vancouver then Vacouver mumineen should not pay Fitrah on millet.
