HALAL TRAVEL | for everyone |
After food and banking: halal travel
22 August 2010 In his days as a jet-setting telecom executive, ready-to-eat
meals were a regular part of Fazal Bahardeen's luggage.
Many of the hotels he stayed in did not have halal-certified restaurants for
Muslim travellers like the 47-year-old Sri Lankan-born Singaporean.
Rooms lacked markers pointing to Makkah for prayers and staff were unable to
answer questions from Muslim guests about their particular needs.
"Half of my life was spent in hotels and airplanes," Fazal said.
"But being a Muslim, I was getting frustrated by the travel industry or the
hotels not being able to provide the right services. You don't know what the
prayer time is, where the prayer direction is, and you can't find halal
food."
But halal travel is now gaining popularity as demand for products and
services permitted by Islam extends beyond food and interest-free financial
instruments, and affluent Muslim travellers make their influence felt.
Halal travel is expected to be worth 100 billion US dollars annually within
two years, said Fazal, who resigned from a senior management job at a major
telecom firm in 2006 and set up his own company to tap into the expected
boom.
Fazal's Crescentrating Pte Ltd is believed to be the only company in the
world that rates hotels globally for their friendliness to Muslim
travellers.
Its online booking portal www.crescentrating.com also promotes halal tours.
Travel commentator Yeoh Siew Hoon told that there is a real demand for halal
travel, led by tourists fromSoutheast Asia and the Middle East .
"TakeIndonesia - it is one of the fastest growing outbound markets in Asia ,
and is the number one source of visitors toSingapore ," said Yeoh, who
operates an industry website www.webintravel.com.
"TourismAustralia also produces a guide to halal restaurants due to the
growing numbers of travellers from Muslim countries," she added.
Greg Duffell, chief executive of the Bangkok-based Pacific Asia Travel
Association (PATA), saidChina 's sizeable Muslim population is another
potential source of outbound travel.
"A lot of suppliers are now amending their products to meet halal
standards," Duffell told AFP.
"It is a trend that started a few years ago. Since then, restaurants and
resorts inSingapore , Thailand and Vietnam too have begun adapting their
standards, so it's beginning to branch out," he said.
"There are more designated halal restaurants in hotels now, and prayer
facilities on the premises, especially at the airports."
Crescentrating's hotel grading system ranges from one to seven and is based
on the availability of halal food as well as prayer rooms and mats - and the
non-availability of forbidden items like alcohol and adult TV channels.
A rating of one is given to a hotel with no such facilities but whose
employees are trained to answer questions from Muslim guests.
This can be raised a notch if the hotel has a list of halal-certified
restaurants in its vicinity - even if it does not have one itself.
The company's highest ratings, six and seven, require a hotel to be free of
alcohol, discos and TV channels showing movies unsuitable for families and
children. In addition, all food and beverages must be halal.
Globally, onlyDubai 's Al Jawhara Garden Hotel has a rating of seven, while
three hotels inSaudi Arabia and one in South Africa are rated six.
The halal food industry is worth 600 billion to 650 billion dollars a year,
according to Fazal and industry reports.
Islamic finance meanwhile boomed when Muslims began to look for investments
approved by their religion, and the sector has attracted non-Muslims too
after the global financial crisis.
"The halal consciousness is rapidly going beyond food and finance," said
Fazal, arguing that with 1.6 billion increasingly wealthy Muslims worldwide,
halal-friendly travel is likely to be the next growth area.
Muslim travellers account for seven to eight percent of global tourism
expenditure, which totalled around 930 billion dollars in 2009, up from just
three-four percent 10 years ago, Fazal said.
This share is expected to expand to 10 percent in the next two years.
Crescentrating also hopes to stamp halal-friendly ratings on theme parks,
convention venues, cruise ships, shopping malls and hospitals used by
medical tourists.

OUR LIFE | for everyone |
WARNING | for everyone |
Dear Friends,
Yesterday only I came to know of a case from a friend of mine which is very scary. One of his friends was traveling to UK via Dubai. Unfortunately he was carrying a packet of Khas Khas which is a commonly used spice in some Indian curries and sweets. Khas Khas is also known as poppy seed which can be sprouted to grow narcotics (afeem etc.).
This innocent person did not know that recently the laws in UAE and other Gulf countries have been revised and carrying Khas Khas is punishable withminimum 20 years of imprisonment or even worse with death penalty. Currently, the person is in a jail in Dubai for the last two weeks. His friends are frantically trying hard for his release but are finding that this has become a very very serious case. Lawyers are asking huge fees amounting to AED 100,000 even to appear in the court to plead for his innocence.
Please forward this email to all you know specially in India. They should know the seriousness of this matter and should never ever carry even minutest quantities of the following items when traveling to Gulf countries:
1. Khas Khas whether raw, roasted or cooked.
2. Paan
3. Beetle nut (supari and its products, e.g. Paan Parag etc.)
The penalties are very severe and it could destroy the life of an innocent person.
I appeal you to create the awareness by forwarding this email to all you know.
Thanks and Best Regards

HADEES ON FASTING | for everyone |
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) said:
"Whoever backbites his Muslim brothers, his fasting will be invalid and his ablution null. Should he die in such a state, he will die like the one who decreed lawful what Allah has forbidden."
Imam Ali, Ameer al Mu'mineen (a.s.) quotes the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) for saying:
"Whoever fasts during the month of Ramadhan out of faith and seeking Allah's pleasure and guards his ears, eyes and tongue from harming people, Allah will accept his fasting, forgive his past sins. . ."
Imam Muhammad al Baqir (a.s.) said to Jabir ibn Abdullah:
"O Jabir, whoever, fasts the days of Ramadhan, stands for prayers in parts of its nights, guards his/her sexual desires, reins in his/her tongue, lowers his/her gaze and injures, not the feelings of others, will become free of sins as on the day he/she was born."
Imam Jafar al Sadiq (a.s.) said:
"If a fasting person when abused, replies peace be upon you I will not abuse as you do, the Lord, the Exalted and Most High says, By fasting, My servant has saved himself from the evil of My other servant, I grant him refuge against the fire."

Imam Jafar al Sadiq (a.s.) says:
"When you fast, guard your hearing and sight against the forbidden, and your limbs and all other organs from the vile. Do not rave at or injure a servant. Be dignified as a fasting person should, and keep silent and calm, except when remembering Allah. Do not regard your fasting day as an ordinary day and refrain from intercourse, kissing and loud laughter, because Allah dislikes that."
Imam Jafar al Sadiq (a.s.) said:
"Allah made fasting incumbent to make equity between the rich and the poor. A rich man does not feel the pains of hunger to have mercy for the poor, since he is able to obtain whatever he likes. (By enjoining fasting) Allah wanted to put His creatures on an equal footing by making the rich taste the pain of hunger, so that he may pity the weak and have mercy on the hungry. . ."
Imam Ali al Reza (a.s.) said:
"O people, anybody who in this month cultivates good manners will walk over the Sirat (bridge to Paradise) on the day when feet will tend to slip. . ."

HADEES | for everyone |
I restrain you from three traits of character: Envy, Avarice and Arrogance.
The true Muslim is the one from whose hand and tongue other Muslims are safe.
Do not talk about knowledge with the foolish so that they deny you, nor with the ignorant so that they find you oppressive, but talk about it with those of its people whom you meet who will accept it and understand it.
The man of knowledge is the one who recognizes that what is known is very little compared to what is not known, and as a result he considers himself ignorant, and accordingly he increases his efforts to know more by going out in search of knowledge.
I wonder those who think about their body's food, but do not think about their soul's food. they keep away disturbing food from their belly, but fill up their heart with destructive subjects.
I wonder those who think about their body's food, but do not think about their soul's food. they keep away disturbing food from their belly, but fill up their heart with destructive subjects.
Keep yourselves far from envy, because it eats up and takes away good actions, like the fire that eats up and burns wood.
• Whoever suppresses his anger, when he has in his power to show it, God will give him a great reward.
• He is not strong and powerful, who throws people down, but he is strong who withholds himself from anger.
• Honesty brings subsistence. Dishonesty brings poverty.
"Whoever gains victory by committing sins has not really been victorious. One who wins by doing evil deeds is indeed a loser."
Beware that the need of people to you is among the blessings of God
to you. So do not scare away the needy people when they come to you, as the
God's blessings will return and go elsewhere.

WHY FASTING IN MONTH OF RAMADAN FOR MUSLIMS | for everyone |
Why is fasting prescribed particularly in the month of Ramadan for Muslims?
It is also considered sacred because it contains the Night of Power (Laylatul Qadr). “Qadr” literally means destiny, and on this night God determines each and every event to occur during the next year to any and all of His creation.
Imam as-Sadiq, peace be upon him, informs us that, “During Laylatul Qadr, the angels, the spirit, and the trusted scribes all descend to the lower heavens and write down whatever God decrees that year, and if God wishes to advance something or postpone it or add thereto, He orders the angel to erase it and replace it with whatever He decrees.”
The Holy Prophet of Islam, peace be upon him and his family, tells us about the great blessings of the month of Ramadan.
“[The month of Ramadan is] overflowing with advantages, merciful, ready to put up your sins of omission and commission to God for obtaining his forgiveness. Its days, nights and hours, in the estimation of God, are more select, refined and important than the days, nights and hours of other months. It surpasses all months in merits and favors.…. So, sincerely, free from evil and sinful thoughts and actions, with clear conscience, pray and request that God may give you heart and confidence to observe fast… throughout this month..”
Muslims observe fast, as in any act of devotion, to seek nearness to God, seek His pleasure and Forgiveness, and generate a spirit of piety in Man. Fasting in this month honors the revelation of God’s word and purifies one in preparation for the night of decrees and in hope of forgiveness. Fasting is a yearly spiritual renewal, given abundant reward in this month of God’s Mercy, that is part of the Islamic path to the ideal self.
HOPE AND FEAR | for everyone |
Reality of Hope
Hope is meaningless unless reasons of its success are available. It is hence foolish to leave the courses of obedience and take in the courses of deviation and depend totally on hope. Such hope is surely void. It is noticeable that the great personalities, such as prophets, their successors, and the saints, spared no efforts in the fields of the obedience to God and devoted themselves to the acts of worship while they were the most favorable to God:
As he was told that some people were engrossed in the acts of disobedience to God while they claim that they hope for the mercy of Him, Imam as-Sadiq (a) said:
“They are liars. They are not our Shia. Those are the people whom are deceived by false hopes. He who hopes for something should work for it, and he who fears something should escape it." ( 16 )
Purpose of Hope and Fear
Some people can be mended only by means of hope while others can be rectified by means of fear. The disobedient who have felt regret for their excessive sins but they have despaired of His pardon should be treated by means of hope for God’s immense mercy . Those who destroyed themselves because of excessive performance of acts of worship should also be treated by means of hope for God. On the other side, the sinful tyrants who are plunging in acts of disobedience to God and are deceived by false hope should be treated by means of fear of God as well as severe reproach and painful punishment.

Calamities and Diseases Cancel the Believers’ Sins
The Prophet (s) said: “God says: By My power and majesty I swear, I will not make the servant upon whom I want to have mercy depart this world before I punish him for every sin that he committed. I will punish him by means of an ailment that inflicts him , poverty that befalls him, or a state of fear that controls him. If this is not enough, I will make him suffer the agonies of death." ( 12 )
“Depression and grief will not depart the believer before they eradicate all of his sins." ( 13 )
Imam as-Sadiq (a) said: “Mufaddal, beware of committing sins and warn our adherents against so. By God I swear, you are the most targeted by sins. You may suffer the persecution of the ruling authorities. This is because of your commitment of sins. You m ay be ailed. This is because of your commitment of sins. Your sustenance may be stopped. This is because of your commitment of sins. You may suffer the agonies of death so severely. This is also because of your commitment of sins."
As the Imam noticed that al-Mufaddal was highly touched by these words, he (a) commented: “You suffer all the previous in order that you will not be interrogated about your sins on the Day of Resurrection, since the punishment for such sins befall you in this world." ( 14 ) “The believer may suffer troubles in sleep as a punishment for his commitment of sins. He also may suffer a physical defect as a punishment for his commitment of sins."(15 )

JUDGMENT OF ALLAH (S.T.) | for everyone |
Favorable Judgment about God
Imam as-Sadiq (a) said: “The last servant who will be sent to Hell will turn his face towards Allah. The Lord then will order the angels to bring him back. ‘Why did you turn your face, servant?’ the Lord will ask. ‘Lord,’ the servant will say, ‘I had no other idea about You.’ ‘What did you think of Me, servant?’ the Lord will ask.
The servant will answer, ‘I thought You would forgive me and allow me to live in Your Paradise.’ The Lord then will say, ‘My angels, I swear by My power, majesty, favors, tests , and exaltation, this servant had never thought good about Me for a single hour of his lifetime. Had he done so, I would not have sent him to Hell. Nevertheless, I will regard the lie that he has just told as true and allow him to be in Paradise.’ Allah will live up to the servant who thinks well of Him:
‘This was how you considered your Lord, but He knows you better than you know yourselves. Thus, you are now lost (41:23).’" ( 5 )
Imam ar-Reza (a) said: “Have favorable judgment about Allah, for He says: I am as My servant thinks of Me, whether good or bad." ( 6 )
Intercession of the Prophet and the Imams for their Adherents
The Prophet (s) said: “On the Day of Resurrection, we will be responsible for interrogating our adherents. Regarding the wrongdoings that are committed against Allah, we will issue a judgment about them and Allah will accept it for us. Regarding the wrong doings that are committed against people, we will interfere so that the wronged party will forgive for our sake. Regarding the wrongdoings that are committed against us, we are the worthiest of forgiveness." ( 7 )
“He who dies on the love for Mohammed’s family will be treated as shahid. He who dies on the love for Mohammed’s family will be forgiven. He who dies on the love for Mohammed’s family will be (regarded as) repentant. He who dies on the love for Mohammed’ s family will be perfectly faithful believer. He who dies on the love for Mohammed’s family will be given the good tidings of being in Paradise by the angel of death, first, and Munkar and Nakeer, second.
He who dies on the love for Mohammed’s family will be carried in procession to Paradise like brides. He who dies on the love for Mohammed’s family will have two doors taking to Paradise opened from his grave. As for him who dies on the love for Mohammed’s family, Allah will make the angels of mercy vis it his grave regularly. He who dies on the love for Mohammed’s family will be regarded as follower of the Sunna and community of Muslims. But for him who dies on the hatred for Mohammed’s family, he will attend on the Day of Resurrection with the script, –written on his forehead-- ‘This one is excluded from the mercy of Allah." ( 8 )
The Prophet (s) once, came to his companions with bright face like the halo of the moon. When Abdurrahman ibn Awf asked him, the Prophet said: “I have just received the good tidings about my brother and cousin and about my daughter. I have just been told that Allah gave my daughter Fatima in marriage to Ali and ordered Ridwan; the doorkeeper of Paradise, to shake the Tree of Tuba, which carried sacraments as many as those who have love for my family. Under that tree, Allah has created angels of light and given each one of them one of these sacraments.
When the Day of Resurrection will come and the angels will call at all the creatures, they will give each of those who have love for The The Ahl ul-Bayt one of these muniments that will be documents of acquittal from Hell. Hence, my brother and my daughter will set many men and women of my umma free from Hell." ( 9 ) • When God’s saying, “The righteously striving believers are the best of all creatures, (98:9)" was revealed, the Prophet (s) said to Ali: This is you and your Shia. ( 10 ) On the Day of Resurrection, you will be content and pleased, while your enemies will be angry and depressed. ( 11 )

THE PASS OF SERAT....(CONTD) | for everyone |
2nd. pass-Namaz.(Salat)
On this pass a person will be stopped and questioned regarding the five daily prayers, the prayer of Signs (Namaze Ayaat), and elapsed prayers (Namaze Qaza), about which it has been discussed in the chapter of "Accounting" Imam Ja'far- as-Sadiq (A.S.) in his last will said "Whoever considering Namaz to be unimportant (or lowly) will not receive our Intercession (in Qayamat)".
Allah says in the Qur'an, "Woe to the praying ones, who are unmindful of their prayers". (Surah- al-Ma'oon : 4-5). The person who does not offer Namaz dies thirsty, and will also arise thirsty from his grave. People should themselves recite Namaz advice others to do so. We should adapt our children to offer Namaz before they reach puberty, because parents of a child reciting Namaz too get a share in their rewards.
Parents who advise their children (while they are still young) to do good deeds and their children in turn follow them, such parents receive the reward thereof. And after a child reaches puberty the good deeds are recorded in his own scrolls.
Once a Prophet was passing from near a grave with his companions, when suddenly he told them to pass away quickly for the person in the grave was being chastised by Allah's wrath. One year later when he passed by that same grave, he sensed that the wrath of Allah had been lifted up from the grave. He was astonished and asked Allah the reason for it. Allah relied, "This person had left behind him a child who was sent to school, his teacher taught him to recite "Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem" .Thus when his child addressed Me as being a Beneficent and Merciful Lord, I forgave his parents, for they have been a medium for his birth. I felt ashamed that in spite of their child addressing me thus, I should punish them".
"O' you who believe ! save your selves and your families from a fire whose fuel is men and stones". (Surah- at Tahreem: 6) Then we should warn our relatives and friends (from the wrath of Allah) by enjoining good (Amr bil Ma'roof) and forbidding evil (Nahy anil Munkar).
3rd .Pass --zakat.
If a person in his life has not paid zakat or khums due on him (even equal to a dirham) to the deseeving persons will be stopped at this pass. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) says, that on the day of Qayamat, the non-payer of zakat' will be in a state that a python (called Aqra) will be wound around his neck. (Aqra is the name of a python, the hairs of whose body have fallen off due to intense poison in it).
In another tradition it is stated that if a person does not pay Khums' due on his agricultural field, on his neck will be placed a chain of the seven worlds on the day of Qayamat. It is also related that when Imam- al- Mahdi (A.T.F.S.) reappears, He shall put to death those who do not pay zakat due on them. The person hoards large provisions of gold and silver (will zakat due on them), on the day of Qayamat these dirhams and dinars will be made red hot in fire and will be placed on their foreheads and their sides.
As said in the Qur'an, "on the day when it shall be heated in the fire of hell, then their foreheads and their sides and their backs shall be branded with it, this is what you hoarded up for yourselves, therefore taste what you hoarded". (Surah- al - Bara'at: 35) There is no difference between the Zakat of wealth and the Zakat of body (Fitrah).
Many harsh words have been used regarding the non payment of khums’, and many traditions are found regarding it. One tradition needs to be quoted here from Usul’al kafi’ that Imam Ja'far- as-Sadiq (A.S.) says that on the day of Qayamat the most difficult time will be when the deserving person of khums will catch hold of the end of the shirt of the one who did not pay it. They will ask for their right from them on this pass, and will not allow him to move further until he gives them their due rights. But the situation will become even worse when the Interceders (Ahlulbait) themselves will ask for Their Rights (khums) from people.
4tn. Pass-Fasting(Saum).
On the fourth pass people will be questioned regarding fasting. If a person has been fasting in this world, only then shall he be permitted to pass over it easily, otherwise he shall be stopped there. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) has said, "Fasts act as a shield against the flames of the fire of hell". The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) has said, "For the one who fasts there are two good tidings for him, one at the time of breaking the fast (Iftaar), while the second when he shall meet his Lord. He will then pass over the Poole Serat easily and enter the presence of his Almighty.
5th .Pass-pilgrimage (Haj)
If the performance of Haj becomes obligatory (wajib) on a person in his life- time, and he does not perform it, then he shall be stopped at this pass. It is stated that during death it will be said unto him "You have died the death of a Jew or a Christian. You are not associated with Islam”. It is said in the Qur'an, "And pilgrimage to the House is incumbent upon men for the sake of Allah, (upon) everyone who is able to undertake the journey to it, and whoever disbelieves, then surely Allah is Self-sufficient, above any need of the world". (Surah-al-Aale Imraan : 96)
6th . pass-Cleanliness(Taharah).
According to Ibne Abbas purification (Taharah) is of three types Ablution (Wuzu'), Bath (Ghusl), and Tayammum, while others consider it to be absolute purification (of the body as well as the soul). If a person does not take care of cleanliness (or purification), specially those men and women who do not perform the ceremonial bath (Ghusle Janabat) correctly or on it’s prescribed time, shall be stopped at this pass. Women should also take care about the performance of other baths (viz. Qhusle Haiz, Nifaas, lztahaza etc.), and not be negligent about it as is the custom amongst. ignorant people. It is related that a person who does not keep himself away from impurities, he will face the squeeze in the grave (as has been discussed in the chapter of “Grave”).
7 th .pass-Rights (Mazalim).
Mazalim is sometimes interpreted as justice while sometimes it refers to the rights of others. The Holy Qur'an says about this pass: ".Most surely your Lord is watching". (Surah-al-Fajr : 14) In interpretation of this verse Lord is said that some people will be passing over the poole Serat in a manner that they will be clasping it by their hands. Others will be walking in manner that one leg of their's will be slipping and they will be taking help of their second leg, while the Angels will be standing on both sides. People will be falling into the fire of hell like bats (falling on the ground). The person who is fortunate to get the Mercy and Blessings of Allah will pass over the poole Serat easily and will say, "All praise be to Allah, for verily He has completed my good deeds with His Mercy and Blessings and increased my reward.
I thank Him that He with His Beneficence and kindness gave me freedom, when I had lost all hope". Without doubt Allah is the forgiver of sins of His servants and the rewarder of their good deeds. If a person has troubled someone with no fault of his, he will be imprisoned for five hundred years on this pass so much so that his bones will break.
If a person has usurped someone's wealth, he will be imprisoned for forty years on this pass and then he shall be thrown into the fire of hell. In traditions it is narrated that in exchange for one (usurped) dirham, seven thousand (accepted) prayers of the usurper will be given to the person whose dirham he acquired.

THE BRIDGE OF SERAT WITH SEVEN PASSES | for everyone |
Prophet (S.A.W.S.) said, "This bridge contains seven Passes (Aqabat), and each Pass has got a station equal to seventy farsakh, and seventy thousand Angels have be positioned on each station. All the people will have to cross these Passes".
1 st. Pass: kindness (Sile Raham), Trust (Amanah), Love of Ahlulbait (A.S.) (Walayah).
The first station here is of kindness (Sile Rahm).
1 st. Pass: kindness (Sile Raham), Trust (Amanah), Love of Ahlulbait (A.S.) (Walayah).
The first station here is of kindness (Sile Rahm).
The person who in this world is not merciful towards his parents will have a short life . He will not prosper (in wealth), and in the Hereafter will be stopped on the first station on Poole Serat, and no mercy will be shown towards him. The Holy Qur'an admonishes us in the following words: "And be careful of (your duty to) Allah, by whom you demand one of another (your rights), and to the ties of relationship". (Surah- an- Nisa: 1)
So when one of your relatives is sick visit him, if he is indigent help him and fulfil his wants, and visit them ( your relatives) on important days (of Idd etc.).
The second station is of Trust (Amanah).
So when one of your relatives is sick visit him, if he is indigent help him and fulfil his wants, and visit them ( your relatives) on important days (of Idd etc.).
The second station is of Trust (Amanah).
Trust does not only include wealth, but also if someone confides in you and tells a secret requesting you not to reveal it to anyone, this too is included in trust. If you disclose it to another, you have committed breach of trust. If you disgrace someone, you have committed breach. And also if someone keeps some wealth with you as a trust and even after promising to return it, you refuse to do so, you are said to have committed breach (of trust). The same rule applies for hire. If you borrowed something from someone for a fixed period, after the period having expired you do not return it, it will be deemed as being a violation of trust.
Shaikh Husain bin Sa' eed al Ahwazi relates from Imam Mohammad -al- Baqir (A.S.) that one day someone gave the good news to Abu Zarr that his sons had brought a huge stock of cattle, and that his Property had increased. To which Abu Zarr replied, "The increase of property will not make me happy, nor do I consider it to be a prosperity for I believe in being moderate and little is sufficient for me.
The guarding of this property would have made me busy and being negligent (of my duty towards Allah). I have heard the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.S.) as saying that, on the day of Qayamat when a person who is trustworthy and kind passes over the poole Serat' kindness and trust will be on both the sides to support him. It is also related that the person who has committed breach of trust or severed relations with his kith a kin, on the day of Qayamat when he will walk over the Poole Serat, none of his deeds will be of any help to him, and he will fall flat into the pit of hell.
The third station is of Love of Ahlulbait (A.S.) (Walayah).
Shaikh Husain bin Sa' eed al Ahwazi relates from Imam Mohammad -al- Baqir (A.S.) that one day someone gave the good news to Abu Zarr that his sons had brought a huge stock of cattle, and that his Property had increased. The third station is of Love of Ahlulbait (A.S.) (Walayah).
Regarding the love of Ahlulbait (A.S.) many traditions have been quoted in the Shi'ah as well as Sunni books, that Walayah means the Love of Imam Ali (A.S.). In Tafseer Salabi it is written regarding the verse : "And stop them, for they shall be questioned". (Surah- al-Saffat : 24). It is said that people will be stopped and asked if they accepted the walayah' of Imam Ali (A.S.) in the world and said, "Aliyyun Waliyullah", while believing in it. Allamah Huwainee and Tabari both great scholars of the Ahle Sunnat quote the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) as saying O' Ali ! Whoever denies your love will be stopped (from going further) over the poole Serat".
In Sawaeqe Muhriqa it is written that whoever has got the passport of the Love of Ali (A.S.) will pass easily over the Serat.
In Sawaeqe Muhriqa it is written that whoever has got the passport of the Love of Ali (A.S.) will pass easily over the Serat.
A ROAD (BRIDGE) THAT GOES OVER HELL | for everyone |
Serat' in the grammatical sense means a way or a road, and it's meaning according to the Shari'ah is a bridge or a road which passes from the top of hell. In a tradition from Ma'soom (A.S.) it is stated that `Poole Serat' is a bridge thinner than a hair, sharper than a sword, and hotter than fire (of this world).
The true believers (Mo'meneen) will pass over it speedily like lightening. Some will find some difficulty over it, but will later find relief. While there will be some who will slip and fall down in the pit of hell. The likeness of 'Poole Serat' is of "The Right Path (Seratal Mustaqeem) of this world, the path of Ali (A.S.) and Aimmah (A.S.)'s obedience.
The person who in this world turned away from the `Seratal Mustaqeem' (The path of Ahlulbait) in word and deed, and was attracted towards falsehood, on the day of Qayamat he will slip over the Poole Serat and fall into hell. In Surah-al-Hamd, Seratal Mustaqeem' refers to both these paths (The path of Ahlulbait and Poole Serat ).
Allamah Majlisi in his book `Haqqul Yaqeen' quotes from Shaikh Sadooq that: Our belief concerning Qayamat is that the Passes (Aqabaat) have each a specific name. some are called Farz (compulsory Acts), others Amr (Commands), yet others Nahy (Prohibitions).
So when a man will reach the Pass of Farz, and he had neglected it (in his life), he will be stopped there and imprisoned for a thousand years, and the dues of Allah will be demanded of him. Now if he goes out of it by means of some good act performed by him in the world, or by the Mercy of Allah, then he escapes from it and goes on to another Pass. He will not cease to be sent from one Pass to another, and be stopped and questioned regarding his shortcomings in respest of each stage.
If he escapes safely from all the Passes, he will arrive at the abode of Permanence (Darul Baqa). Here he comes upon everlasting life, and perpetual beautitude, without any affliction what so ever. He will reside in the neighbourhood of Allah, with the Prophets (A.S.), and the Imam (A.S.), the veracious ones, the Martyres (Shohada), and the righteous ones from among His slaves. And if he is stopped at a Pass, and is questioned about a certain due in respect of which he is found wanting. and neither a good action on his part nor the Mercy of Allah reaches him, his step will stumble and he will be hurled down in the fire of hell. (E teqadatul Imamiyah).
Imam Mohammad-al-Baqir (A.S.) says, that when the verse (Ayah) "And hell is made to appear on that day" (Surah-al-Fajr: 23) was revealed, the Holy prophet (S.A.W.S.) was asked regarding it's interpretation. He replied, "Jibra'eel has informed me that when Allah will have gathered everyone from the beginning to the end on the day of Qayamat, one thousand Angels will bring the hell pulling it with a thousand ropes with great difficulty.
Hell will be roaring and raging with anger and the voice of breaking (of bones) will be heard from it. At that moment a ferocious voice will erupt from it, which Allah has reserved to take the account of people, and every one will perish (with fear). Men, Angels, and the Prophet will be wailing with fright.
Man will cry out, "Our Lord! save me, save me", while the Prophets will cry out, "O Lord! save my people (ummat)". So each Prophet will take account from Their people (ummat) and walk over the Poole Serat. No one will have any escape from walking over it. Allah says in the Qur'an And there is not one of you but shall come to it, this is an unavoidable decree of your Lord. And we will deliver those who guarded (against evil,) and we will leave the unjust therein on their knees". (Surah-al -Maryam: 71-72)"".

Do not to make this unstable world the object of worship and ultimate goal | for everyone |
Islam rejects a life spent fruitlessly in abnegation of the world, for no one is permitted to declare illicit the enjoyment of the bounties that God has declared licit.
Naturally, the life of this world must be regarded as the preliminary to the hereafter, as an occasion for earning happiness and good fortune in that realm; God has enjoined good-doing on man in order to enable him to prosper in this world and the hereafter. He further reminds him that all that has been given to him is in the nature of a trust; he should give liberally to other a share of whatever he has, in order to earn God's pleasure thereby.
One of the manifestations of God's favor is that He responds to man's exercise of liberality and generosity with the goods that are ultimately His by bestowing further reward on him.
If people are satisfied with the pleasures and phenomena of this world, God reminds them of the bounties of the hereafter, which are in no way comparable with the pleasures of this world, although they represent their continuation in more desirable form; He warns such people to lessen their attachment to the joys of this world and to aspire instead to those of the next. To miss the opportunities of this world would be to miss the rewards of the hereafter, and thus fall prey to useless regret.
The Commander of the Faithful, `Ali, upon whom be peace, said: "How often does some vile and trivial pleasure prevent man from attaining lofty degree and bar his path to happiness!" (Ghurar al-Hikam, p. 550)
What causes a contradiction to arise between this world and the hereafter is exclusive orientation to this world and the choice of it as ultimate goal. A hungry pursuit of this world alone will necessarily deprive man of the lofty states of the hereafter.
Man's infatuation with this world, his slavish devotion to the material joys that it offers, will inevitably alienate him from his true destiny. His intelligence will yield to lack of awareness; he will cease to advance and he will find himself stagnating at a point unworthy of his high station.
The Noble Qur'an warns men not to make this unstable world the object of their worship and their ultimate goal, for it addresses the Noble Prophet of Islam, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, as follows: "Turn away from those who have turned away from remembrance of Us and have no goal other than the life of this world; that is the extent of their knowledge and awareness" (53:29).
Similarly, another verse of the Qur'an reads: "They are content with the life of this world, but the life of this World is but slight when compared with the hereafter" (13:29).
Or again: "They do not look forward in hope to the meeting with Us and are content with the life of this world: they are unaware of Our tokens and signs." (10:7)
Islam, then, does not devalue this world; even grants nobility to the activities of man in this world.
The fact that man's gaze should be fixed on the next world as his ideal does not mean that he should have no share of this world.

NOT TO BE DECEIVED BY THE PLEASURES OF THIS WORLD | for everyone |
Immersion and/or getting busy in the affairs of this world does indeed place a veil of oblivion and neglect before the vision of man, it causes him to turn his back on lofty spiritual values, so that in the end he meets death empty-handed.
One day, the Commander of the Faithful, `Ali, upon whom be peace, entered the market of Basra. He saw people utterly absorbed in themselves and the business of buying and selling; it was as if death and resurrection would never happen. This atmosphere of negligence deeply disturbed him, so he wept and said: "O servants of the world, O slaves to the worldly! Throughout the day you are busy buying and selling, swearing oaths as you do so, and your nights are spent in sleep and a state of complete unawareness. So day and night you are unaware of the hereafter and the outcome of your affair; when, then will you prepare yourselves for the journey that awaits you, and when will you gather the provisions you need? When will you begin to remember the hereafter and resurrection?" (Safinat al-Bihar, Vol. I, p. 674)
Imam al-Sajjad, upon whom be peace, said while addressing God in prayer, "O God, prolong my life as long as its days are spent in worship and obedience to You. If a moment should come when my life becomes the pasture of Satan, take my soul and bring my life to an end before Your dislike overtakes me or Your anger seizes me." ("Du'a-yi Makarim al-Akhlaq" in Sahifa-yi Sajjadiya)
At the same time, as long as man is in this world, he desires certain bodily pleasures and enjoyments. This urgent longing is a general one, not confined to a given group of people. The objects of this desire represent indeed a necessity, which is brought to an end only by death. Accordingly, God does not deprive anyone of these pleasures (in their pure and licit form), nor does He encourage anyone to turn away completely from the affairs of this world. However, He does encourage man to redirect his hopes away from the false and impermanent values of this world toward true values and genuine aspirations; He warns him not to be deceived by the transient and ambiguous pleasures of this world or to become so attached to his desires and longings that he is deprived of lasting reward in the hereafter. In other words, man is exhorted to devote his attention at all times to seeking the pleasure and satisfaction of God.

Over All Other Nights-Laylatul Qadr | for everyone |
Laylatul Qadr
This name was used for Laylatul Qadr because Allah determines what will happen for everyone in the entire next year. The "Qadr" in this sense means destiny. According to Al Qummi's Tafsir, as explained on p. 432 of its second volume, such destiny includes life and death, sustenance, abundance of crops or famine and everything good or bad. This means that Allah determines in this night each and every event to occur during the next year to any and all of His creation.
Sulayman al- Marzawi asked Imam Ali Ar Ridha (pbuh)
"Could you please tell us why Suratul Qadr was revealed?"
Imam replied:
"O Sulayman! Laylatul Qadr is the night when Allah decrees what will take place from one year to another of life or death, good or evil, regarding sustenance and whatever He then decrees is sure destiny."
“Whoever spends Laylatul Qadr in ibada to his/her Rabb will have all his/her sins forgiven even if they had numbered as many as the stars in the heavens, the weight of the mountains, or the measures of the seas.” Imam Muhammad Al Baqir (pbuh)
"The Holy Qur'an was revealed as a whole during the month of Ramadan at the Ancient House (the Ka'ba), then from there it was revealed along the span of (more than) twenty years." Imam Sadiq (pbuh)
"The Books of Ibrahim (pbuh) were revealed on the first night of the month of Ramadan; the Torah was revealed on the sixth of the month of Ramadan; the Gospel (Injil) was revealed on the thirteenth of the month of Ramadan; the Psalms (Zabur) were revealed on the eighteenth of the month of Ramadan, and the Holy Qur'an was revealed on the twenty-fourth of the month of Ramadan." Imam Sadiq (pbuh)
"During Laylatul Qadr, the angels, the spirit, and the trusted scribes all descend to the lower heavens and write down whatever Allah decrees that year, and if Allah wishes to advance something or postpone it or add thereto, He orders the angel to erase it and replace it with whatever He decrees." Imam Sadiq (pbuh)
Ibn Abbas is quoted saying, "The Holy Qur'an was revealed as a whole from the Safeguarded Scroll from the heavens to the lower earth on Laylatul Qadr, then Jibrail used to reveal it unto Rasulullah (pbuh) gradually."
Imam Baqir (pbuh), quoting Rasulullah (pbuh) has said that whoever spends Laylatul Qadr adoring his Lord will have all his sins forgiven even if they had numbered as many as the stars in the heavens, the weight of the mountains, or the measures of the seas.
.
Imam Baqir (pbuh) has said, "The 17th night of the month of Ramadan is when the two parties met, and the 19th is when the lists of the pilgrims is written down, and the 21st is when the successor to the Prophet passed away and Isa (pbuh) was raised to heaven and Musa (pbuh) passed away, whereas the 23rd is hoped to be Laylatul-Qadr."
Ahmed ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya quotes his father saying, "I was in the company of Imam Sadiq (pbuh) when Abu Baseer asked him, 'Which night is the one when one is to plead to his Lord whatever he wishes to plead?' Imam answered him by saying, 'Either the twenty-first or the twenty-third.' He then asked him: 'What if I have no strength to observe both of them?'
Imam said, 'How easy it is to observe them when compared to your pleas!"'
Imam Sadiq (pbuh) has also said: "The twenty-third night of the month of Ramadan is the one when every weighty matter is decided, when trials, tribulations, deaths, and means of sustenance and other matters are determined, and so will whatever Allah decrees to take place for the entire next year; so, congratulations to anyone who remains awake during it bowing, prostrating, contemplating upon his sins, weeping on their account, for if you do all of that, God willing, you Will never be disappointed."
Then he added, "Allah will order an angel to call out during each and every day of the month of Ramadan conveying Allah's message to them thus: ' Good news, O My servants, I have forgiven your past sins and permitted some of you to intercede on behalf of the rest on Lailatul-Qadr except those who break their fast with an intoxicant or those who bear grudge against another Muslim brother!'"
It is narrated that Allah wards off evil and sins and all types of trials on the 25th night from all His servants who fast and grants them light in their hearing and vision; Janna is decorated during Laylatul Qadr's day and night.
PRAYERS IN THE EYES OF THE HOLY HOUSEHOLD (A.S.)=II | for everyone |
The Holy Prophet [s] said: "The one who takes prayer light is not of me. No, by Allah such a person will not reach the Haud, Pond of abundant." Man La Yahduruhul Faqih, vol. 1, p. 206
Imam Sadiq [a] said: "If there be a stream at the house of one of you in which the one washes himself five times a day, will there remain anything from the dirt over his body? Verily, the likeness of prayers is the same as the stream. The person who establishes ritual prayers clears out his sins thereby, except for the sin that takes him out from Faith he believes in." Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 82, p. 236
The Holy Prophet [s] said: An obligatory prayer, with Allah, is equivalent to one thousand Hajj pilgrimages and one thousand Umrah performances (voluntary pilgrimages to Ka'ba) which are right and accepted." Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 99, p. 14
The Holy Prophet [s] said: "Do not waste your prayers, because, surely, the person who wastes them will be raised with Croesus (Qarun) and Haman so that it is rightfully certain for Allah to put the one in Hell with hypocrites." Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 83, p. 14
The Holy Prophet [s] said: "Say each of your prayer as if it were your last prayer." Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 69, p. 408
Imam Amir ul Mu'mineen Ali [a] said: "If a praying person knew to what extent he was surrounded by His Mercy, he would never raise his head from (the state of) prostration. Tasnif-I-Ghurar-ul-Hikam, p. 175
Imam Baqir [a] said: "On the Reckoning Day, the first thing that a servant will be reckoned for is the prayer; therefore, if it is accepted, the rest (good actions) will be accepted, too, (otherwise, his other good deeds will not avail him)." Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 7, p. 267
At the last moments of his life, Imam Sadiq [a] called his relations and companions and told them: "Verily, our intercession never reaches the one who takes prayers lightly." Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 82, p. 236
Imam Baqir, the fifth Imam, [a] said: "There are ten things that when a person meets Allah the Almighty and Glorious, with them, he will enter Heaven:
Confessing that there is no god besides Allah
And that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah
Acknowledging what has come down to the Prophet [s] from Allah (the Qur'an).
Establishing regular prayers.
Giving alms.
Fasting in Ramadan.
Performing the Pilgrimage (Hajj) to the Sacred House.
Kindness to the lovers of Allah
Detachment from the enemies of Allah And, avoiding any alcoholic beverage."

PRAYERS IN THE EYES OF THE HOLY HOUSEHOLD (A.S.) | for everyone |
Imam Amir ul Mu'mineen Ali [a] said: "For the God-fearing, prayer is a means of seeking nearness to Allah and for the weak, the Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) is as good as Jihad (fighting in the way of Allah). For every thing there is a levy, and the levy of the body is fasting. The Jihad of a woman is to afford pleasant company to her husband." Nahjul Balagha, saying 136
The Holy Prophet [s] said: There comes no night but that the angel of death calls to the dead in the graves and inquires what they regret for today when they have vividly seen (and known) this (the next life). Then the dead will say: "Verily, we regret and envy the believers who are in their mosques and they are praying while we are not; they give alms and we do not; they fast during Ramadan but we do not; they donate in charity what they have more than the need of their family members while we do not; ..." Irshad-ul-Qulub, p.53
The Holy Prophet [s] said: "At the (appointed) time of every prayer (salat), I hear a caller who calls and says: "O children of Adam! Keep up prayers in order to extinguish the fire you have lit against yourselves (by committing sins)." Mustadrak-ul-Wasa'il, vol. 3, p. 102
The Holy Prophet [s] said: "Be careful of the prayers, for, on the Day of Resurrection, when Allah the Exalted, will bring the servant (for reckoning), the first thing that He will ask him about will be the prayer. If one brings it completely, he will be of the people of salvation, otherwise, he will be thrown into Fire." Bihar-ul-Anwar, vol. 82, p. 202
