Imam Zainul Abiddin (as): Moral Conduct and Behavior
Imam Zainul Abiddin (as) was present in Karbala along with his father Imam Hussain (as), but did not fight as he was very sick. After the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (as), he was put in shackles, but he carried his father's message beyond Karbala. He lived for 40 years after Karbala and publicized the event of Karbala.
Imam Zainul Abiddin (as) was such a great worshipper that people called him "ABID" and "SAJID." He (as) used to fast daily and worship the whole night. He (as) used to stand so long in prayers that his feet used to swell up. While praying he used to cry so much that his eyes used to turn red. His supplications are so many that their collections are present in a book titled "Sahifa-E-Kamilah (The Psalms of Islam)." Along with love for ALLAH (SWT), he also loved his fellow beings. He (as) provided all the basic necessities to many needy families. He (as) used to carry food for the poor at night and provide them with their needs.
Imam Zainul Abiddin (as) in Madina through his silent teachings left many pupils; the most prominent of them was Abu Hamza-e-Thumali, who remained to spread the teachings of Ahlul Bayt in the Islamic world. Abu Mikhnuf was also one famous pupil of Imam Zainul Abiddin (as) who later on the instructions of the fifth Imam, Imam Baqir (as) wrote the story of Karbala in the narrative form which became the part of the Majlis all over the world.
The calm and peaceful life of Imam Zainul Abiddin (as) was not to be tolerated by the Umayyad cruel regime. They realized that Imam Zainul Abiddin (as) was succeeding in his mission of spreading the message of his father Imam Hussain (as). The Syrian monarch Al-Walid ibn Abd al-Malik had him poisoned. Imam Zainul Abiddin (as) died in Madina on the 25th of Muharram 95 Hijri. His eldest son Imam Mohamed Baqir (a.s.) arranged the burial and laid him to rest in the grave yard of Jannatul Baqi beside his uncle Imam Hasan (as).

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as): Gunah-e-Saghira and Gunah-e-Kabira
Two men came to Imam Ja'fer -as-Sadiq (as) and said that they would like to do
Tawbah (ask for forgiveness and put right) for their sins. The first man said that he had done a lot of small sins/minor sins (Gunah-e-Saghira) whilst the second said that he had committed two big sins/major sins/greater sins (Gunah-e-Kabira).
Imam Jafar As-Sadiq (as) told the first man to pick one small pebble for each small sin (Gunah-e-Saghira) that he had committed. Imam Jafar As-Sadiq (as) told the second man to bring a large boulder for each of his big sins (Gunah-e-Kabira). After a while both men came back to Imam Jafar As-Sadiq (as) having brought what they were asked to bring. Imam Jafar As-Sadiq (as) now asked both of them to put back every stone in its place. The man with the two large boulders found it difficult to carry them back in their original place but eventually he managed. The man with the many small pebbles could not remember where he had picked all of them so he could not put them all back in their original place.
Hence, it is very difficult to do Tawbah for the sins which seem small because we forget and take them for granted. That's why Imam Ali (as) has said: "The biggest sin is that which the doer considers the smallest." or "The worst sin is that which the sinner takes lightly."
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as): Do not consider a Small thing insignificant

Ab al-Fadl al-Abbas (PBUH) is that same person whom when Imam Hussain (PBUH) hurried to his martyred body, made a statement that he had never before: a statement, which is another proof for the status of Abbas (PBUH). In losing his brother, Imam Hussain (PBUH) said: "(and) now my back has broken!"

Imam Sajjad (PBUH) has said about his uncle: "May Allah bless Abbas the son of Ali, who dedicated (his life), was examined by calamity, and lost his life for his brother to the extent that his two hands were cut off.  …Verily Abbas has a status in the presence of Allah that all the martyrs will envy on the Day of Judgment…"

In the Ziyarat of Nahiya, Imam Mahdi (PBUH) addresses him as the following:"…Peace be upon Ab al-Fadl al-Abbas, son of the commander of the believers, the one who protected his brother with his own life, and collected provisions from his past for his future. It is he who sacrificed himself for his brother, made his own life a shield, and made sufficient effort for his sake…"
Thus, we too would like to say: "Infinite peace and blessings be upon you and your righteous and enlightening behavior, O Ab al-Fadl! Peace be upon you as you reached your high status and courageously accomplished the path you faced. Peace be upon you as you are among the greatest, most shining, and most sacrificial martyrs in the presence of Allah (SWT)."

Imam ‘Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS) has said:

“Take away from this world your hearts before your bodies go out of it,  because herein you have been put on trial, and you have been created for the  other world. When a man dies people ask what (property) he has left while  the angels ask what (good actions) he has sent forward. May God bless you;  send forward something, it will be a loan for you, and do not leave  everything behind, for that would be a burden on you...”

Nahj al-Balaghah,
Sermon 202

Imam ‘Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS) has said:

“Oh seeker of knowledge, there are three signs of a learned scholar:
knowledge, forbearance and silence.

Similarly, there are three signs in the one who just pretends to be a
scholar:
1. Wrangles with one superior to him wrongfully;
2. Tries to prevail upon the one inferior to him;
3. Becomes an accessory for the wrong-doers.”

al-Kafi, Book 2

Imam Husayn ibn ‘Ali (AS) has said:

“The most merciful person is the one who forgives when he is able to  revenge.”
Behar al-Anwar
Volume 78, page 12

Imam Muhammad al-Baqer (AS) narrated that Imam ‘Ali (AS) went on the pulpit  and said:
“No one experiences true faith unless he realizes that he will obtain only what is destined to be his, and he will not obtain anything that is destined to belong to others.”

Imam Ja’far as-Sadeq (AS) has said:

“A Muslim believer must not attend a meeting wherein God’s laws are being
disobeyed and the one is not in a position to stop it.”

Usoul al-Kafi,
Volume. 2, page 374

Once a man told Imam Husayn (AS) that he had a daughter and asked whom he
(AS) would advise him to give her to in marriage, and he said:

“Give her in marriage to someone who (has faith and) fears God, Almighty and  Glorious, because he will love and respect her, and if he becomes angry with her, he will not hurt her.”

The Prophet (S) in his address to the people, said:

“May I not inform you about the best virtues in this world and the next?
(They are): to forgive one who wronged you, to make amends with your kin who severed relations with you, to oblige one who harmed you, to give to one who refused you. And (remember), hatred and mutual enmity is a remover, and I do not mean a remover (shaver) of hair; but a remover of faith.”

Referring to a follower who had refrained from joining a war and then had
apologized for it and sought to bring an excuse to justify it, Imam Husayn  (AS) said: “Apologizing for a sin committed consciously is worse than the sin itself.”

Behar al-Anwar,
Volume 78, page 128

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (S) has said:

“Among all things, the tongue deserves to be imprisoned longer than anything else.”

(Because most of our sins are committed by it, such as backbiting, telling  lies, defaming, mocking, insulting, etc.)

It has been related on the authority of Imam Reza (AS):
“Whoever wears a ring with Aqeeq (agate) in his right hand, if  he reverts the Aqeeq (agate) toward the palm of his hand in the morning before any one sees him, and recites the Quranic Chapter, Qadr:

Surah al-Kawthar (The Heavenly Spring)108
There are 3 ayaat in this ‘makki’ surah. It is narrated from Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (AS) that the person who recites this surah in any of his prayers, will drink from the fountain of Kawthar. The reward for reciting this surah is compared to ten times the number of cattle slaughtered on Eid-ul-Adh’ha every year until the Day of Resurrection.

Surah al-Kaafirun (The Disbelievers)109
This surah is ‘makki’ and has 6 verses. The Holy Prophet (SAWW) said that reciting this surah carries the reward of reciting a quarter of the Holy Qur’an. The recitation of this surah drives awayShaitan and keeps one safe from Shirk.
It is also among the five surahs that have been recommended to be recited during a journey, the others being surah an-Nasr, at-Tawhid, al-Falaq and an-Naas. Reciting surah al-Kafirun and at-Tawheed in compulsory prayers is a means for forgiveness of sins for the reciter, his parents and his children. If a person dies after reciting this surah, it is as if he has died a martyr. Recitation of this surah before sleeping keeps one safe the whole night.

Surah an-Nasr (The Assistance)110
This surah was revealed in Madinah and it has 3 ayaat. It is narrated that whoever recites this surah in compulsory prayers will always be victorious over his enemies. On the Day of Judgement he will be given a book in which it will be written that he is free from hellfire.
Recitation of this surah in the prayers ensures that the prayers are accepted. The one who recites this surah frequently is held in the same status as those who were with the Holy Prophet (SAWW) when Makkah was conquered.

Surah al-Lahab (The Flame)111
There are 5 verses in this surah and it is ‘makki’. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (AS) advised that whenever a person recites this surah, he should curse Abu Lahab because of his he mistreated the Holy Prophet (SAWW) and showed disrespect to him.
It is narrated that recitation of this surah is good for relieving back pains and reciting it before sleeping keeps one safe in the night.

Surah at-Tawheed (The Unity)112
This surah was revealed in Makkah and it has 4 verses. It is also known as surah al-Ikhlaas. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (SAWW) that whoever recites this surah once will get the reward equal to ten times the number of people who have believed in the Islamic teachings.
This surah has many other rewards and its recitation is compared to reciting a third of the Holy Qur’an. Reciting it once is a means of blessings for the reciter, if recited twice then the blessings are also showered upon the children of the reciter. Reciting it thrice brings blessings on the entire family of the reciter. If surah al-Ikhlas is recited 11 times, the reciter will have palaces built for him inJannah.
When a person recites this surah 100 times, all his sins for the past 25 years are forgiven (except the sins of killing an innocent person or usurping the property of people). The one who recites it 1000 times will not die unless he sees his place in Jannah.
The Holy Prophet (SAWW) once advised a poor person to always say ‘salaam’ when entering his house, even if there was nobody there, and then recite surah at-Tawheed. After a little while, the man became abundantly wealthy.
It is narrated that if a person does not recite this surah in any of his five daily prayers, it is as if he has not prayed. In fact, if a person does not recite this surah in any of his prayers for seven consecutive days, and he dies, it will be as if he died while following the religion of Abu Lahab.
It is makruh to recite this surah in one breath. This surah has numerous other benefits and is a cure for many ailments. It should be recited when travelling or when facing a tyrant ruler.

Surah al-Falaq (The Dawn)113
This is a ‘madani’ surah and it has 5 ayaat. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (SAWW) that whoever recites this surah in the month of Ramadhan in any of his prayers, it is as if he has fasted in Makkah and he will get the reward for performing Hajj and ‘Umra.
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (AS) said that in the prayer of Shafa’a (in Salaatul-layl) one should recite surah al-Falaq in the first rak’aat and an-Naas in the second.

Surah an-Naas (The Man)114
This surah was revealed in Madinah and it has 6 ayaat. Surah an-Naas and al-Falaq are together called Ma’udhatayn. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (AS) has said that whoever recites this surah  in his house every night, will be kept safe from Jinnaat and the evil designs of Shaitan.
If this surah is put around the neck of a child as a talisman(ta’weez), the child will be protected from Jinnat. Reciting the Ma’udhatayn before sleeping is a means of safety and if recited on any part of the body that is paining, the pain will be relieved.

Wealth and Poverty

In the name of Allah the Beneficient the Merciful
It was a usual meeting. The Prophet (S.A.W.) was in his place and his companions gathered around him to hear the words of wisdom and guidance. Suddenly a poor man in rags appeared, saluted the assembly :

"Salamun Alaikum" (Peace be on you)
and finding a vacant place, comfortably sat down.
The Prophet (S.A.W.) had taught them that all Muslims were brothers and in an assembly one should sit wherever one finds a place, regardless of any status. Now, it so happened that this poor man was seated next to a very rich man. The rich man felt very disturbed and tried to collect the edges of his dress around himself, so that the poor man didn't touch them. The Prophet (S.A.W.) observed this and addressing the rich man he said:
" Perhaps you are afraid that his poverty would affect you?"
" No, O Messenger of Allah," he said.
"Then perhaps you were apprehensive about some of your wealth flying away to him?"
" No, O Messenger of Allah."
"Or you feared that your clothes would become dirty if he touched them?"
" No, O Messenger of Allah."
" Then why did you draw yourself and your clothes away from him?"
The rich man said:
"I admit that was the most undesirable thing to do. It was an error and I confess my guilt. Now to make amends for it I will give away half of my wealth to this Muslim brother so that I may be forgiven."
Just as he said this, the poor man rose and said,
" O Prophet of Allah, I do not accept this offer."
People present were taken by surprise, they thought that the poor man was a fool, but then he explained:
" O Prophet of Allah, I refuse to accept this offer because I fear that I might then become arrogant and illtreat my Muslim brothers the way he did to me."

"Indeed in the creation of the heaven and the earth and alteration of the night and the day, there are signs for men of acumen. Those who extol Allah, standing, sitting and (lying) on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): 'Our Lord! You have not created this in vain! Glory is Yours; protect us against the torment of the Fire. Our Lord! indeed whomsoever You enter the Fire, You have surely disgraced him, and there shall be no helpers for the worngdoers. Our Lord! surely we have heard a caller calling to faith (saying): 'Believe in your Lord', so we did believe; Our Lord! forgive us, therefore, our sins and cover our evil deeds and recieve us with the righteous. Our Lord! grant uswhat You have promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Resurrection Day; surely You do not break the promise (3: 190-194)."
As soon as he finished these Ayahs, his condition became bad; he then repeated these Ayahs again and again and his condition became bad to worse and he became almost unconscious.
Both Habbah and Nawf were witnessing this amazing scene, while lying on their beds. Habbah, while quite startled, was looking this astonishing scene.
But Nawf was unable to control his tears and he was continuously weeping. By this tim, 'Ali (AS) reached the bed of Habbah and said: "Are you awake or asleep?"
Habbah replied: "I am awake, O Leader of the Pious! If a person like you has such a condition with awe and fear of Allah, then what would heppen to we poor people."
The Leader of the Pious looked down and wept. He then said: "O Habbah! all of us will be presented before Allah one day. And no deed of ours is hidden from Him. He is very near to you and me. Nothing can act as an obstruction between us and Allah.
Then he said to Nawf: "Are you asleep?" (Nawf replied:) "No, O Leader of the Pious! I am awake. It is for some time that I am shedding my tears."
'Ali (AS) said: "O Nawf! If today you shed your tears in fear of Allah, tomorrow your eyes will glitter.
"O Nawf! No one has more respect than that person who cries in the fear of Allah and that he likes to do it only for His sake.
"O Nawf! The one who loves Allah and that whatever he loves, he does it just for the sake of Allah, does not prefer anything over love of Allah. And the one who dislikes anything, and does it for the sake of Allah, he would receive nothing except virtue for his disliking. Whenever you reach such a stage, you have attained the truths of faith to their perfection."
After this, he preached and gave a peice of advice to Habbah and Nawf. His last sentence was: "I have told you that you should fear from Allah." Then he passed by both of them and got busy with his own work. He started his prayers and while doing so, he said: "O Allah! I wish I knew that when I am neglectful towards You, do You ignore me or do You still care for me? I wish I knew that in these long neglectful dreams of mine and in my shortcomings in thanking you, what is my position before You?'
Habbah and Nawf said: "By Allah! he kept on walking and he had the same condition continuously till dawn."

The Greatest Sacrifice at Karbala
The tenth day of Muharram, 'Ashura, dawned. Before going into battle Imam Husayn (A.S.) went into the tent of his son Zayn ul-Abidin (A.S.) who was lying ill on a sheep's skin, too weak to join his father in battle. He was being tended to by his aunt Zaynab (A.S.). Husayn (A.S.) bade him farewell, saying, "My son, you are the best and purest of my children. After me you will be my successor and deputy. Take care of these women and children during captivity and the rigours of travel. Console them. My son, convey to my friends my Salam (greetings of peace) and tell them their Imam has been killed away from his home and that they should mourn for me."
Sighing deeply, he turned to Zaynab (A.S.) and the other women of the Bani Hashim and said, "Take heed and remember that this my son is my successor and Imam and is to be obeyed by everyone." Then to Zaynab (A.S.) he said, "After killing me my enemies would take off the clothes from my body. Therefore please bring me some old and tattered dress to wear so that they might not undress me and leave me naked." Zaynab (A.S.) did as he requested.
That same day, Zaynab (A.S.) brought to him her two sons Aun and Mohammed and said to him, "O my brother, if women were permitted to fight I would have courted death to save you. But it is not allowed. Accept therefore the sacrifice of my two sons."
The bloody battle raged all day. One by one Imam Husayn's sons, kinsmen and supporters were butchered on the battlefield. When Zaynab's sons were killed she bore their death with fortitude.
She did not come out of her tent, nor did she loudly lament for she did not wish to cause grief or shame to her brother. But when the corpse of Ali Akbar (A.S.) (the son of Imam Husayn (A.S.) was brought to the tents of the women Zaynab (A.S.) was distraught. Oblivious of her veil she came out of her tent and clasped the body saying, "O my son, would that I had become blind, or had been buried beneath the ground so as not to have seen this day."
Their enemies did not even give them access to any water that might soothe their parched throats. Their water supplies had long since been finished. When the Imam was taking his final leave of the ladies, Zaynab (A.S.) asked that he try to get a little water for his dehydrated infant son Ali Asghar (A.S.).
The Imam took him in his arms and went to beseech Umar ibn Sa'd for water for the innocent child. But his request fell on deaf ears and stone hearts. Instead, an arrow pierced the child's neck, killing him instantly. Imam Husayn (A.S.) returned with the child still in his arms, himself spattered with his son's blood. Zaynab (A.S.) took the small corpse from her brother and pressing it close to her chest lamented pitifully the heavy toll on life that the injustices of the enemy extracted.
The fateful day wore on. Husayn (A.S.) was wounded so many times until eventually he fell off his horse. His enemies surrounded him and attacked him with swords and spears. When Zaynab (A.S.) saw his agony from her tent door she went on to the field of battle and approaching the Imam, she said, "O my brother, my master, would that the sky fell down on the earth and the mountains toppled to the ground." Then she turned to Umar ibn Sa'd and said, "O Sa'd, Husayn is being butchered and you are only watching." Hearing this his eyes filled with tears, but he made no reply.
Then Zaynab addressed the others of the army: "Is there no Muslim among you who could help the grandson of the Prophet of Allah?" And then the fighting came to an end. Seventy-three brave men had faced four thousand, and after the bloody encounter was over none of the Imam's supporters were left alive. The Imam's body was trampled by his enemies' horses, his head was severed, and even the tattered cloth with which he had hoped to preserve his modesty was snatched off him.
At the moment of the Imam's death, Hadrat Jibra'il proclaimed: "Beware, Husayn has been murdered in Karbala."
Upon hearing this Zaynab [a.s] rushed to Imam Zayn ul-Abidin (A.S.) and told him about the tragedy that had just occurred. At his asking she raised the curtain of the tent door for him and looking towards the battlefield, he exclaimed: "My Aunt, my father has been killed, and with him the spring of generosity and honour too has come to an end. Inform the women and ask them to conduct themselves with patience and forbearance; let them be prepared to be plundered and taken captive."
Now the enemy came to the women's tents. Umar ibn Sa'd gave the order to loot.
Barging in, they plundered what they could and set the tents on fire. They beat the women with their swords and snatched away their veils. Imam Zayn ul-Abidin's bedding was ripped from beneath him and he was left lying feeble, weak and unable to move. Both Sakina's and Fatima's earrings were wrenched from their ears, making them bleed.
While the tents burned away Zaynab (A.S.) gathered the young women and went to find Imam Ali Zayn ul-Abidin (A.S.). Finding that he had not been killed, Shimr had come to behead him. Zaynab (A.S.) threw herself on her sick nephew to protect him and Shimr was stopped from carrying out his evil intention.
Most of the women and the children had fled into the open in terror. As night fell Zaynab (A.S.) collected them all together, but could not find Sakina, daughter of Husayn (A.S.). She was greatly perturbed and called on her dead brother to tell her where the girl was. A voice replied, "O my sister, my daughter is with me." Sakina had slipped away to where the body of her dead father lay. Zaynab (A.S.) found her there clinging to his body and brought the orphaned child back.

1. For seeking well-being and thanking for it
He said that once `Ali b. al-Husayn (AS) saw a person doing tawaaf of al-Ka`bah and saying: O God I ask from You the patience (as-Sabr).

The Imam striked his shoulder and said: you have asked for affliction (balaa'),
[Instead] say: Allaahumma innee as-alukal-`aafiyah, wash-shukra `alal-`aafiyah.
O Allah I ask from You the well-being, and to be grateful for the well-being.

2. For seeking richness

From Imam Reza (AS) On the authority of his forefathers who said that the Prophet (s) said: He who says every day 100 times [the following] will attract richness through it and drive away poverty:

Laa ilaaha illaal-laahul-malikul-Haqqul-mubeen (There is no god, except Allah, the Ruler, the Real, the Manifest)

3. Cure from all sorts of pain

Khalid b. al-`Absee has narrated that: `Ali b. Musa (AS) taught me the following instructing me to teach fellow believers for it works with all sort of pains and aches.
U`idhoo nafsee birabbil-ardhi wa rabbis-samaa' U`idhoo nafsee billadhee laa yadhurru ma`a-smihi daa' U`idhoo nafsee billadhee-smuhu barakatun washifaa'

I seek protection for my soul in the Lord of the earth and the Lord of the heavens I seek protection for my soul in the One in whose name no sickness can hurt I seek protection for my soul in the One whose name is Blessed and a Cure

Imam Ja’far as-Sadeq (AS) has said:

“It is not the right of God over His creatures that they should know His  commandments. Rather, it is the right of His creatures that God make Himself  and His commandments known. But once He manifests His commands to His  creatures, it becomes His right over His creatures that they should accept  His commands.”

al-Kafi, Book 3: The Book of Excellence of Knowledge

Imam Muhammad al-Baqer (AS) has said:

“God the Mighty, the Glorious, likes people who cut jokes with each other provided they do not tend towards vulgarity.”

al-Kafi, Chapter 23,

Imam Ja’far as-Sadeq (AS) has said:

“Do not cut jokes excessively (and remain within sensible and reasonable  limits) otherwise you will lose your prestige (in society).”

al-Kafi, Book 8: The Book of Social Relations

Imam Ja’far as-Sadeq (AS) has said:

“Our followers are those who remember God very frequently (and sincerely)  when they are in solitude.”

Imam ‘Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS) has said:

“Be more hopeful for that which you have no hope, compared to what you have some hope for. Moses the son of ‘Imran left his town to ask for fire for his  people, but God spoke to him and he returned as a Prophet. The Queen of  Sheba [Saba] left the town as an infidel, but she became a Muslim when she
met Solomon. Pharaoh’s magicians also were seeking honour for Pharaoh but they returned as believers.”

Abu Ja’far Muhammad ibn ‘Ali al-Baqer (AS) has said:

“A believer is in his prayers, as long as he remembers God, while standing, sitting or lying down. Surely, God says (in Quran): ‘Those who remember God,
standing, sitting, or lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: Our Lord, You have not created this in vain, glory be to You! So save us from the chastisement of the fire.’ (3:191).”

Imam Muhammad al-Mahdi (AS) has said:

“As for deriving benefit from me in my occultation is like deriving benefit from the sun when it hides behind the clouds.”

Behar al-Anwar,
Volume 53, page 181

Imam ‘Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS) has said:

“Do not make fun of people because this will cause resentment and yields animosity. This kind of action is like a minor insult.”

It was narrated that in the days that Prophet Moses (pbuh) wandered with Bani Israel  (Children of Israel) in the desert, an intense drought befell them. Together, they raised their hands towards the heavens praying for the blessed rain to come. Then, to the astonishment of Prophet Moses (pbuh) and all those watching, the few scattered clouds that were in the sky vanished, the heat poured down, and the drought intensified.

It was revealed to Prophet Moses (pbuh) that there was a sinner amongst the tribe of Bani Israel (Children of Israel) who had disobeyed Allah (SWT) for more than forty years of his life.

‘Let him separate himself from the congregation,’ Allah (SWT) told Prophet Moses (pbuh). ‘Only then shall I shower you all with rain.’
Prophet Moses (pbuh) then called out to the throngs of humanity, ‘There is a person amongst us who has disobeyed Allah (SWT) for forty years. Let him separate himself from the congregation and only then shall we be rescued from the drought.’
That man waited, looking left and right, hoping that someone else would step forward, but no one did. Sweat poured forth from his brow and he knew that he was the one. The man knew that if he stayed amongst the congregation all would die of thirst and that if he stepped forward he would be humiliated for all eternity.
He raised his hands with a sincerity he had never known before, with humility he had never tasted, and as tears poured down on both cheeks he said, ‘O Allah, have mercy on me! O Allah, hide my sins! O Allah, forgive me!’
As Prophet Moses (pbuh) and the people of Bani Israel (Children of Israel) waited for the sinner to step forward, the clouds hugged the sky and the rain poured. Prophet Moses (pbuh) asked Allah (SWT), ‘O Allah, you blessed us with rain even though the sinner did not come forward.’

And Allah (SWT) replied, ‘O Moses, it is for the repentance of that very person that I blessed all of Bani Israel (Children of Israel) with water.’
Prophet Moses (pbuh), wanting to know who this blessed man was, asked, ‘Show him to me O Allah!’

Allah (SWT) replied, ‘O Moses, I hid his sins for forty years, do you think that after his repentance I shall expose him?’

Imam Askari (A.S): The most pious among the people is the one to stop ( action ) in doubts , the most worshiping is the one to perform the obligations , the most austere is the one to leave the unlawful , and the most striving is the one to leave sins.
(Tohaf Al_Okool , P.519)

Imam Ali (a.s):  Never, never will prosperity be reached by remaining idle and lazy (Ghurar-ul-Hikam, p.197)

Overlook and forgive the weaknesses of generous people. Because if they fall down Hand of God lifts them.

A man asked the Prophet (PBUH) to give him a piece of advice. The Prophet, may Allah's greetings be upon him and his immaculate household, said: ‘Control your temper. ‘The man made the same request for a second time. The Prophet said: ‘Control your temper.’ Then, he went on to say: ‘A strong man is not one who knocks other people down. A strong person is one who does not let his anger get the better of him.’
 (Tohfatul Oqul, p. 47)

'Anas-ibn-Mlaik narrates from the Messenger of Allah [sa] who said: ‘Accept six things from me, then I will accept (and guarantee) the entrance of Heaven for you:
1. When you speak, tell no lies.
2. When you promise, do not break it.
3. When you are trusted (by others), be honest.
4. Lower your eyes (from committing sin).
5.Guard your modesty.
6. Hold your hands and tongues.’
