39 killed in terrorist act in Iran, condemnation pours in
ZAHEDAN, Dec. 16 (MNA) – Religious and political figures expressed their hatred of a suicide attack in Chabahar, a city in southeast Iran, on Wednesday which martyred at least 39 people and wounded more than 100 others.
The vicious crime happened as suicide bombers targeted a religious ceremony to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (S). Women and children were among the victims.
Religious and political figures have said the terrorists acts were intended to sow discord among Shia and Sunni Muslims in the southeastern province of Sistan Baluchestan.
The Society of Sunni Clerics in Sistan Baluchestan issued a statement saying, “So far the people of Sistan-Baluchestan province, through their unity, have made the enemy to repent” such vicious acts and will continue to do so in the future.
Mowlavi Abdol-Hamid, a Sunni cleric and Friday prayer leader of Maki mosque in Zahedan, described the terrorist attack as a “savage crime”.
In a statement on its website, the shadowy Jundullah group claimed responsibility for the bombings.
So far U.S. President Barack Obama, King Abdullah of Jordan, and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon have expressed their disgust of the ruthless attack. Obama called the attack a "disgraceful and cowardly act" and Ban described it as an "abhorrent terrorist act."
Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar said on Wednesday that the attackers had links to neighboring Pakistan.
"A group of terrorists who were trained in Pakistan carried out the bombings ... we have informed Pakistani officials as well," Mohammad-Najjar said.
The members of the Jundullah group usually use the Pakistani soil as a launch pad for their attacks.

11.)Then go back to your place where you are standing and recite:
O Allah! Condemn and punish the licentious profligates who make the life of Thy Messenger miserable; and waged was against Thy close friends, and worshipped others, (but ) not Thee, deemed lawful (that which) Thou had forbidden, bring a curse upon their leaders, followers, on those who were in them, secretly or distinctly were hand in glove with them, or condoning their (mis) deeds. A great many curses.
O my Allah, bid to bring joy and happiness quickly for “Aali Muhammad”, (the children of Muhammad), bestow Thy blessings on him and on them, save them from the dangerous clutches of the undercover two-timers, and the obstinate disbelievers; open for them the doors of “the beginning”, a facility to put in practice gentleness, kindness and fairplay; create favourable conditions for them to make life full of love and thought, cheerful, free of care, as early as possible, on Thy authority let them have full control over Thy enemies, to help, rescue and defend (mankind).

(12) Then raise your hands, having in mind the enemies of “Aali Muhammad”, and say:
O my Allah! Indeed a great many among the people declared war, laid traps and intrigued against the careful and gentle guardians who observed and fulfilled the duty. The ungratefuls (the said opponents) renounced the faith and did not, in fact, believe in the “Kalimah” (LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAAH); attached themselves to the trend setters of disorder and tyranny; disowned and gave up the Book and the (Divine) rule of life; swerved from and angled off the two strings which according to Thy commandment, (they) should have held fast and stuck close by; undermined and twisted the truth; Went, away from the real purpose, in the opposite direction ; encouraged partisanship; Altered and falsified the Book; refused to believe in the evident proof and rightful clain, whenever confronted face to face; chose falsehood, whenever came across; lost their way and corrupted Thy laws, Islam; led people astray; killed the children of Thy Prophet, Thy liberal highminded servances, bearers of Thy knowledge, inheritors of Thy wisdom and revelation, the Book.
O my Allah, upset and overturn the plan and movement of Thy enemies, (who are also) the enemies of Thy Messenger and the children of Thy Messenger.
O my Allah, put a stop to the spread of their sphere of influence; make their equipment and men unserviceable, their expression confused and contradictory; break up their support; crack up their strategy; lay hold upon them, hit and cut off by Thy one sharp strike; throw them down, frightened by Thy hard unnerving barrier, bury them under the swallowing mud of disasters; let them be mean and contemptible under the yoke of despise-able penance; bring them to book and let them have the taste of a hard and sharp retribution; fester them with definite and exemplary punishment, as Thou wipes out Thy enemies; it is beyond the shadow of doubt that Thou cracks down upon the criminals.
O my Allah, the way of life approved by Thee has been tossed aside; Thy code of law has been suspended; and the descendents of the Prophet, in this world, had been tormented. O my Allah, Therefore give all Thy attention and care to signify truth, and the upholders of truth; restrain and prevent falsehood, and the camp-followers of false-hood, and take us to safety as a favour; guide us to true faith; make available for us, as soon as possible, happiness and bliss, bring everything in to good order through the inspiring presence of Thy representatives; make us desire and love them , make them receive us with open arms.
O my Allah, bring to nothing those who celebrate the day the choicest (grand) son of Thy Prophet was martyred, in cheerful amusement; laugh and enjoy in utter delight and indulge in wanton boisterous merriment; catch hold of and punish each one of the remaining, just as Thou cracked down on the early (culprits); make twice as much the penalty,
O my Allah, and punishment, a warning example, (while convicting0 the tyrants who took liberties with and abused the children of Thy Prophet; give the eath blow to their henchmen, put an en to their headmen, wipe out their patrons and their groups altogether.
O my Allah, multiply Thy blessings generously, Thy mercy liberally, Thy favours like a windfall, (thou bestows) upon the children of Thy Prophet, who Thy enemies tried to ignore, frighten and corner, the children who are the blooming pride of the fragrant strongly grown and fertile tree. Let people subscribe to and uphold,
O my Allah, their expressed refined (thoughts), and get the better of the antagonists in debate and disputations through their arguments, put the dark clouds of trouble, distress nothingness and ignorance, to flight, through (on account of) them, make firm and strong the hearts and minds of their followers (to know things for certain and give correct answers), to belong to Thy party, obedient to Thee; to love them; to support them ; stand by them, signify them; they exercised self-control whenever they put up with damage and injury in Thy cause; bring in, for them, the days, people will see them and find them among themselves to pronounce the profession of true faith, a blissful and happy time; Be quick in providing relief and joy, after a long period of suffering (to them and us), on account of their presence; bring on their worthy, decent and refined sphere of influence; and support them as Thou has given a guarantee in this connection in Thy revealed Book; Thou said, (and Thy words are always true): Allah has promised such of you as believe and do good deed that He will surely appoint them successors in the earth, as He appointed successors those before them, and that He will surely establish for them Their religion which He has chosen for them, and surely He will give them in exchange safety after their fear. Thy (shall) ascribe nothing as partner unto Me.
O my Allah! Therefore disperse the dark clouds hanging over them, no one has power to keep safe from pair and distress save He, O Unique ! O Single ! O Everliving ! O Self-subsisting!
I, O my Allah, Thy bondman, cautions and (always) aware of Thy just requital, turn to Thee with a request, standing before Thee, to seek the favour of taking refuge with Thee, in Thy courtyard, fully aware of the fact that there is no way to run away from Thee except unto Thee. O my Allah, accede to my request, take notice of my positive statement and heartfelt secret avowal,
O my Allah, and let me be the one whose conduct satisfies Thee, (whose) pious life devoted to Thee receives Thy approval, (whom) Thou brings to a place of safety through Thy mercy; verily Thou art rare, dear and beloved (because of ) Thy kindness.
O my Allah, send blessings, in the beginning and at the end, on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad; keep at peace at all times, Muhammad and the children of Muhammad, let Thy love and tenderness always envelop Muhammad and the children of Muhammad, more thoroughly and decisively than Thou had blessed, kept at peace and loved Thy Prophets, Messengers, Angels and the bearers of Thy Arsh, in the name of and for the sake of “LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA”.
O my Allah, let there be no separation (ever) between me and Muhammad and the children of Muhammad, Thy blessings be on him and them; let me be one among the friends and followers of Muhammad, Ali, Fatimah, Hasan and Husayn, and their pure and select descendants; give me the insight to cling to their friendship, and be always ready to walk with them, and make use of their life style; Verily Thou art liberal, Generous and Kind,
Now go into prostration (Sajdah), keep either side of your face on the earth, one after the other, and say):O He who decrees that which He wills, does that which He wants. It is Thou who possesses and exercises absolute power; therefore (all) praise is for Thee (only); (Thou alone art) the praiseworthy, the thankworthy.
O my Master, let them have a life full of love and peace, and let us share the harmony and bliss with them, because Thou has given a guarantee to put them on the highest pedestal of love, honour and wisdom, after the severest trial and tribulation, to do too much for them , exceeding all bounds, after they had put up with the worldly minimum (in Thy cause), to make them distinct and evident after (Thy enemies) kept them in obscurity, O the Most Truthful ! O the Most Merciful!
I beseech Thee, O my Lord, and Master, humble and weak before Thee, to throw wide open doors of Thy generosity and kindness to let my hope (of fulfillment of heart’s desires)come true, and get and ather what I want in surplus; and make valid my deeds, whether insignificant looking or weighty, prolong my days until I am satisfied with being an eye-witness, and give testimony, and be among those who are called upon, so run to obey them, love them and support them (the descendents of the Holy Prophet); Make me see that very soon, close at hand, in good health sund mind and with believing heart. Verily Thou art able to do all things
(raise your head, look towards the sky and say):
in Thee do I seek refuge that I should be among those who hope not for Thy “Days”, so make me full well and be there, O my Master, through Thy mercy, in that time.
| (Now go into prostration (Sajdah), keep either side of your face on the earth, one after the other, and say): (raise your head, look towards the sky and say): |

Ibn Kathir's comments on Yazeed - MAY ALLAH'S CURSE BE ON HIM ALWAYS
Ibn Kathir is the Wahabi's biggest historian and a student of Ibn Taymiyya himself. As far as Wahabis are concerned, his words are written in gold. Yet Ibn Kathir himself writes in al Bidayah: "Traditions inform us that Yazeed(LANATI) loved worldly vices, would drink, listen to music, kept the company of boys with no facial hair [civil expression for paedophilia with boys, a form of homosexuality], played drums, kept dogs [civil expression for bestiality], not a day would go by when he was not in a drunken state". Listen up you Nasibi scholars! This is what the second highest ranking Wahabi scholar in history says, so why do you come out with this nonsense about Yazeed? Can the religion of truth confusion?
MAY ALLAH(ST) CURSE ALWAYS BE ON THIS LANATI YAZID,
Mu'awiyah, Hurmala, Shimar and their evil comrades, supporters, and all those were pleased with this Lanati Yazid
THE EVIL SHAITAN AND SUPPORTED IN HIS EVIL CAUSE THE MUDERER OF KARBALAHAZRAT ABBAS ALAMDAR- HIS JOURNEY AND END TO FETCH WATER | for everyone |
How he had taken Husain's permission and marched out of the camp with a sword in one hand, the flag in the other, and the bag on his shoulder, with the children following him in a group up to the outer perimeter of the camp. How Husain had repeatedly requested him to avoid fighting as much as possible and confine himself to the task of bringing water!
His thoughts switched over to the events that had preceded his fall from the horse. With the object of procuring water for his dear little Sakina, he had charged on the enemy who held the river banks. He had run through the enemy ranks like a knife through butter. Again this surging onslaught the cowards could not stand and had run helter-skelter shouting for protection. For a moment it seemed as if Ali, the Lion of God, had descended from heaven. In no time Abbas was near the rivulet. He had jumped down from the horse and bent to fill the water-bag. When it was filled to the brim, he had taken some water in his cupped hand to drink and satisfy his killing thirst. But, on second thoughts, he had thrown the water away. How could he drink water when Sakina and the children were still withering without it?
How could he be so callous as to forget that his master Husain had not had a drop of water since the last three days. He had turned to his horse which had been let loose so that it could satisfy its thirst.
The animal had been intently looking at its master as if to say:
I too am aware that, so long as our master and his children
remain without water, our thirst cannot be quenched.
With the water-bag filled he had jumped into the saddle with one thought uppermost in his mind, to get the water to the anxiously waiting children as quickly as possible. Seeing him galloping towards the camp of Husain, the enemy had turned. Somebody had shouted from the enemy ranks that if Husain and his people got water, it would be difficult to fight them on the battlefield. Though it was an uneven fight, he fought them with valour which was so characteristic of his fathers Though he was thirsty and hungry, he charged on them and scattered them. The mercenaries of Yazid were running like lambs in a fold when charged by a lion. Seeing that a frontal assault on a man so brave was not possible, they had resorted to a barrage of arrows. When arrows were coming form all sides, Abbas had only one thought in his mind, how to protect the water-bag than his life. Seeing that Abbas was preoccupied with this thought, one treacherous foe, hiding behind a sand-dune, had rushed out and dealt a blow on his right hand and cut it off. In a flash Abbas had transferred his sword to his left hand and the standard he was bearing he had hugged to his chest. Now that the Lion of Ali was crippled, the foes had found courage to surround him. A blow from an enemy's sword severed his left arm. The odds were now mounting against him. He held the bag with his teeth and protected the flag with his chest pressed on the horse's back. Now the paramount thought in his mind was to reach the camp somehow or the other. A silent prayer had escaped his lips:
Merciful Allah, spare me long enough to fulfill my mission.
But that was not to be. An arrow had pierced the water-bag and water had started gushing out of it. Was it water that was flowing out of that bag or the hopes of Abbas? All his efforts had been in vain.
After all Sakina's thirst would remain unsatisfied and all her hopes would be frustrated. The enemies who had made bold to surround him, now seeing his helpless condition, were now gathering thick round him.
One of them came near him and struck mortal blow with an iron mace. He reeled over and fell from the horse.
He tossed on the burning sand with excruciating pain. He felt that life was fast ebbing out but his wish to see his master had remained unfulfilled. With one last effort, with all the strength that was left
in him, he shouted:
O my master, do come to me before I die.
As it in answer to his prayers he felt some footsteps near him, Yes, his instinct told him that it was his lord. His one eye had been blinded by an arrow and the other filled with blood and so he could not see. But he felt his master kneeling down beside him, lifting his head and taking it into his lap. Not a word was said for a few seconds because both were choked with emotion. At last he heard Husain's voice, a half-sob, half-muffled cry:
Abbas, my brother, what have they done to you?
If Abbas could see, would he have recognized his master? With back bent and beard turned white and hoary, on hearing the parting cry of his beloved brother, Husain's plight was such that nobody could have recognized him - such was his transformation. Abbas was now feeling the loving touch of his master's hand. With effort he muttered:
You have come at last, my Master. I thought I was not destined
to have a last farewell with you but, thank God, you are here.
With these words he put his head on the sand. Tenderly Husain lifted his head and again put it on his lap, inquiring why he had removed it from there.
My Master, replied Abbas, the thought that when you will be breathing your last, nobody will be there to put your head in a lap and to comfort you, makes me feel that it would be better if my head lies on the sand when I die, just as yours would be. Besides, I am your slave and you are my master. It is too much for me to put my head on your lap.
Husain burst into uncontrollable tears. The sight of his brother, whose name was to become a byword for devotion and unflinching faithfulness, laying down his dear life in his arms, was heart-rending.
Abbas was heard to whisper softly:
My master, I have some last wishes to express. When I was born, I had my first look at your face and it is my last desire that when I die, my gaze may be on it, too. My one eye is pierced by an arrow and the other is filled with blood. If you will clear the blood from my one eye, I'll be able to see you and fulfill my last dying desire. My second wish is that when I die you may not carry my body to the camp. I had promised to bring water to Sakina and, since I have failed in my attempt to bring her water, I cannot face her even in death. Besides, I know that the blows that you have received since morning have all but crushed you and carrying my body to the camp will be heart breaking work for you. And my third wish is that Sakina may not be brought here to see my plight. I know with what love and affection she was devoted to me. The sight of my dead body lying here will kill her.
Husain sobbingly promised him that he would carry out his last wishes added:
Abbas, I too have a wish to be fulfilled. Since childhood you have always called me master.
For once at least call me brother with your dying breath.
The blood was cleared from the eye, one brother looked at the other with a longing lingering look. Abbas was heard to whisper:
My brother, my brother
and with these words he surrendered his soul to his Maker: Husain fell unconscious on the dead body of Abbas with a cry:
O Abbas, who is left to protect me and Sakina after you?
The flow of Furat became dark as winter and a murmur arose from the flowing water as if to protest against the killing of a thirsty water-bearer on its banks.

Zainab (as.) in Karbala
Zainab (a.s.) is the shining sun in the history of Islam and of humanity. Her brother's name and Karbala associate the idea of freedom, justice, humanity, virtue, fighting against despotism , with the realization of the sovereignty of Allah. The history of Karbala is based on two pillars: the rising of Imam Hussein (a.s.) and the rising of Zainab (a.s.). She was an outstanding figure in the history of Karbala endowed with divine steadfastness and fortitude. She sacrificed her two sons and one should not say anything if one devoted his life for the cause of Allah. After the martyrdom of her brother and her two sons, she said: "0 my Lord! Accept our humble sacrifice to You."
When Zainab reached Kufa, she addressed people with fury words: "Praise to Allah, and may the blessing of Allah be upon Muhammad and his progeny. 0 people of Kufa, you are hypocrites and deceitful. You feign to be sorry for the death of my brother and his companions. May you always shed tears. I find nothing in you but flattery, evil acts and thoughts, pride and spite and ill-will. By Allah! You deserve lasting sorrow instead of joy. Shame on you, your hands are imbrued with the blood of the son of the Holy Prophet, the one who was your sole refuge in case of adversity. By your evil act and disloyalty, you incurred the -wrath of Allan against you. Woe betide you! No one will intercede with Allah for you." Her furious words provoked people of Kufa to avenge Hussein's martyrdom. This frightened Ubaidullah and his cruel agents. She also delivered a furious sermon in the court of the caliph that made his authority and despotic rule feel undermined. She said: "I fear no one but Allah. Make whatever evil plot you can. Blazes are waiting for you in the hereafter. You'll he accountable to Allah for your atrocities."

THE LAND OF KARBALA | for everyone |
Anas ibn Malik says: The Angel of Rain asked Allah's permission to go to the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.). The Angel was given the permission. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) ordered Umm Salama: "Stay outside so that nobody could come in". Anas says: Al-Husayn (A.S.) came in and wanted to enter the room, but Umm Salama prevented him. Husayn (A.S.) rushed inside the room and jumped on the Holy Prophet's back and neck. The Angel asked the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) do you love him. He replied: Yes. The Angel said: Know that your Ummah will kill him, and if you wish I will show you the place where he will be martyred. The Angel struck out with hand and brought a handful of red clay. Umm Salama took it and kept it in the corner ofher kerchief. Thabit who is a transmitter of this hadith says: We heard that land was Karbala.
Umm Salama says: One day the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) was sitting in my room and said that no one should come inside. I waited outside. At this time al-Husayn (A.S.) entered the room. I heard that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) was sobbing bitterly. I looked inside and saw that al-Husayn (A.S.) was in the bosom of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) and he was caressing al-Husayn's (A.S.) forehead and shedding tears. I said I swear by Allah I did not notice his entering.
The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) said: Gabriel was with us in the room and asked: Do you love him? I replied: Ay, of all in the world [I only love him]. Gabriel said: Know that your ummah will kill him in a land called Karbala. Then Gabriel took a small amount of that earth and showed it to the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.). Later on when al-Husain (A.S.) was besieged and was going to be killed, he asked what this land is called. They replied: Karbala then he said Allah and his Messenger have told the truth. This is the land of "karb" [which means sorrow,] and Bala, [meaning calamity].
Abd Allah ibn Nojji quoting his father: When Ali (A.S.) was on his way to "Siffin" my father was Imam's retainer in that journey when we reached Nainawa he called: Wait Abu 'Abd Allah, wait at the Euphrates! Wait here. I asked: what has happened? He replied: One day I was at the Messenger of Allah's (S.A.W.) presence and saw that his eyes were full of tears. I said: O Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.)! Has someone bothered you? Why are your eyes tearful? He replied: No, a moment ago Gabriel left me. He told me that al-Husayn will be killed near the Euphrates. Gabriel had asked the Messenger of Allah: Do you wish to smell the earth of his martyrdom place? I said: yes then he took a handful of the earth and gave it to me that made me crying.
Muhammadi Rayshahri
THE NIGHT BEFORE ASHURA | for everyone |
Imam Husain (a.s.) gathered his companions at night. Imam Ali Zainul Abedeen (a.s.) says that: I went closer to them so as to hear what they said, and at that time I was unwell. I heard Imam telling his companions that, "I glorify Allah with the best glorification, and praise him in times of prosperity as well as misfortunes. O Allah! I praise You that You have likened Prophethood to be bestowed in our family, You taught us the Qur'an thus making us intellectuals in Religion, and conferred upon us the faculty of hearing and foresight and an enlightened heart. Thus enter us among the fold of your grateful servants. Now then! I have not known any companion who are more faithful and devout than you, nor have I known any family who is more considerate, affectionate, favourable, and amiable than my family. Thus may Allah reward you well on my behalf. And I presume that the enemy will not spare even a single day, and I permit all of you to go away freely while I validate this for you. I lift up from you the responsibility of the allegiance and oath (which you have sweared at my hands). The darkness of the night has enveloped you, thus free yourself from the whirlpool (hiding) in the waves of darkness. Then each of you may catch hold of the hand of each of my family members and disperse into the villages and cities, until Allah bestows relief upon you. For these people desire me only, and after having laid their hands upon me, they shall not pursue anyone else."
Hearing this his brothers, sons, nephews and the sons of Abdullah bin Ja'far said, "We shall never do this so as to remain alive after you. May Allah never cause this to happen." Hazrat Abbas bin Ali (a.s.) preceded in the declaration and others followed suit.
Then Imam turned towards the sons of Aqeel bin Abi Talib and said,
"The sacrifice of Muslim is sufficient for you, hence I permit you to go away."
They replied, "Glory be to Allah! What will the people say? They will say that we have forsaken our chief, master and a cousin who was a best cousin. And that we did not shoot arrows alongside him, thrust spears and did not strike our swords besides him, and we would not know what to do (regarding this accusation). By Allah! We shall never ever do this. In fact we shall sacrifice our lives, wealth and our family for you. We shall fight alongside you until we reach the fate besides you. May life be ugly after you (if we remain alive)."
Then Muslim bin Ausaja arose and said, "Shall we forsake you? Then when we go to the presence of the Almighty, what excuse shall we present to Him regarding the fulfilment of your rights? No, By Allah! I shall pierce this lance of mine in the hearts of the enemies, and shall strike them with my sword until it's hilt remains in my hands, and if no weapon remains with me to fight with them, I shall attack them with stones. By Allah! We shall not lift our hands off you, until it is proved to Allah that we have honoured the regard of the Prophet in respect of you. By Allah! Even if I know that I shall be killed and then made to rise again and then killed and burnt and my ashes be scattered around, and this shall happen seventy times, even then I shall not forsake you until I am killed in your obedience. Then how should I forsake this when I know that death is to come only once, after which a great blessing awaits me."
Then Zuhayr bin Qayn arose and said, "By Allah! I hold dear that I should be killed then made to arise and again killed, and this should happen to me a thousand times, and thus Allah, the Mighty, the Sublime, may defend you and your family from being killed."
Then all the other companions unanimously repeated the same. (Tabari) They said, "By Allah! We shall not abandon you, infact our lives shall be sacrificed for your life. We shall defend you with our necks, faces and hands. Then we all shall die while having performed our duty."
The following couplet best suits their discourses: "O my Master! Even if the throne of my greatness reaches the empyrean, I shall remain your servant and a beggar at your door, if I lift my heart and it's love from you, then whom should I love and where should I take my heart"? May Allah reward them favourably with respect to Imam Husain (a.s.) Then Imam Husain (a.s.) returned back to his tent.
"May Allah reward the youth who bore patiently, they being unique any where in the world. They were embodiment of excellent character and not bowls of milk blended with water, which can later turn into urine."
Sayyed Ibne Tawoos relates, that it was said to Mohammad bin Bashar Hazramee that, "Your son has been arrested at the border of Ray." He replied, "I leave him to Allah's accountability. By my life! I do not like being alive after his arrest." Imam Husain (a.s.) heard his words and said,
Sayyed Ibne Tawoos relates, that it was said to Mohammad bin Bashar Hazramee that, "Your son has been arrested at the border of Ray." He replied, "I leave him to Allah's accountability. By my life! I do not like being alive after his arrest." Imam Husain (a.s.) heard his words and said,
"May your Allah have mercy upon you! I lift up the pledge of allegiance from you, you may go and attempt the release of your son."
He replied, "If I seperate from you, I will fall prey to the beasts", to which the Imam replied,
"Then send these Yemeni garments with your other son, so that he may release him in lieu of these."
And he handed over five garments costing a thousand gold dinars (An Islamic gold currency varying in weight, equivalent to approximately 20 dollars) to Mohammad bin Bashar.
Husayn bin Hamadan Hazeeni has related through his chain of authorities from Abu Hamza Sumali, while Sayyed Bahrani has related without quoting his chain of authorities from him, that he says that I heard from Imam Ali Zainul Abedeen (a.s.) that he said:
On the night preceding his Martyrdom, my father gathered his family and companions and said, "O people of my family and my Shi'ah! Consider this night, which has come to you as a mounting Camel and save yourselves, for these people do not desire anyone else except me. Then after having killed me, they shall not pursue you. May Allah have mercy upon you! Save yourselves. Verily I lift the responsibility of the allegiance and pledge which you have taken at my hands." Hearing this his brothers, relatives and companions unanimously said, "By Allah O our Master! O Aba Abdillah! We shall never betray you, so that people may say that we had abadoned our Imam, our chief and master until he was martyred. Then we would seek excuses between ourselves and Allah. And we shall not leave you until we ransom ourselves upon you." Imam said, "Verily I shall be killed tomorrow and everyone from among yourselves too shall be killed with me, and none among you shall be spared." To which they replied, "Praise be to Allah, that He has bestowed grace upon us to assist you, and has offered distinction to us to get martyred alongwith you. Then do we not like that we should be alongwith you in your elevated station (in Paradise) O son of the Prophet of Allah"? Imam replied, "May Allah reward you favourably" then he prayed for them. When it dawned all of them were martyred.
Then Qasim bin Hasan (a.s.) asked, "Am I too included in the list of the martyrs"? Hearing this Imam was moved and said,
"O my dear son! How do you consider death (martyrdom in the way of Allah) to be near you"?
Qasim replied, "It is sweeter than honey." Imam said,
"Verily, by Allah! May your uncle be your ransom! You are one of them, who shall be martyred alongwith me after having fallen prey to a severity, and my (infant) son Abdullah (Ali Asghar) shall be martyred too."
Hearing this Qasim asked, "O dear uncle! Then will the enemies reach the womenfolk so as to kill the suckling child Abdullah"? Husain replied,
"Abdullah will be killed at that time when I, absorbed in intense thirst, will come back to the tent and ask for water or honey and nothing will be available. Then I will request my child to be brought to me so that I may kiss his lips (and thereby find relief). The child will be brought and placed in my hands, and a lewd man (from among the enemies) will shoot an arrow upon his neck and the child shall raise a cry. Then his blood will get filled in my palms and I shall raise my hands to the heavens and say: O Allah! I forebear and leave the accountability to You. The lances of the enemies will then be hurriedly thrown at me, while the fire in the trench dug behind the tents shall be roaring. Then I will attack them, the moment being the most bitter of my life. Then whatever Allah wills shall come forth."
Saying this Imam started weeping and we too could not control our tears, the voice of lamenting arose from the tents of the Progeny of the Prophet of Allah (s.a.w.s.).
Qutubuddin Rawandi relates from Abu Hamza Sumali that Imam Ali Zainul Abedeen (a.s.) said that I was alongwith my father (Imam Husain) on the night preceding his martyrdom. Then he addressed his companions thus,
"Consider this night to be an armour for yourselves, for these people desire me and after having killed me they will not turn towards you, while you are pardoned and are capable."
They replied, "By Allah! This shall never ever happen." Imam said,
"All of you will be killed tomorrow and no one will be spared."
They replied, "Praise be to Allah who has bestowed grace upon us to be martyred alongwith you." Then Imam prayed for them and told them to lift up their heads. They did so and saw their status in Paradise, and Imam showed them one after the other their places therein. Thus every one was forwarding his face and chest facing the swords, so as to enter the status in Paradise.
It is related in the Amali of Shaikh Sadooq from Imam Ja'far as Sadiq (a.s.), who says that after the discourse of the Imam with his companions, he ordered a trench to be dug around his army. The trench was dug and filled with firewood. Then Imam ordered his son Ali Akbar (a.s.) to fetch water, accompanied by thirty horsemen and twenty-foot soldiers, while they were in the state of severe fright and Imam was reciting the following couplet:
"Time, shame on you as a friend, at the day's dawning and the sun's setting, how many a companion or seeker will be a corpse, time will not be satisfied with any substitute, the matter will rest with the Mighty One, and every living creature will have to journey along my path."
Then he commanded his companions,
"Drink the water which is your last sustenance in this world, and perform your ablutions and take a bath. Wash your clothes, for these shall be your shrouds."[52]
(Irshad) Imam Ali Zainul Abedeen (a.s.) says that on the night preceding the martyrdom of my father, I was awake while my aunt Hazrat Zaynab (a.s.) was attending to me. My father was alone in his tent, while Jaun, the retainer of Abu Zarr Ghifari, was with him and was preparing his sword and putting it right. My father was reciting the following couplets:
"Time, shame on you as a friend, at the day's dawning and the sun's setting, how many a companion or seeker will be a corpse, time will not be satisfied with any substitute, the matter will rest with the Mighty One, and every living creature will have to journey along my path."
He repeated it twice or thrice and I understood what he meant and sorrow befell me but I bore it silently and realised that a calamity had befallen us. My aunt Zaynab (a.s.) heard it too, sensitiveness and anxiety being the qualities of women, she could not control herself and tearing her clothes ran bareheaded towards my father and said, "Woe unto this tragedy! I wish death overtakes me. Today my mother Fatemah (a.s.), my father Ali (a.s.) and my brother Hasan (a.s.) have departed from me. O successor of the departed ones! O source of hope for the alive ones!"
Imam turned towards his sister and said,
"O dear sister! Do not let shaitan take away your forebearence."
His eyes became full of tears and then he said,
"If a sandgrouse (a type of a bird) is freed at night, it will sleep in peace."
Then she said, "Woe! Then will you be violently and helplessly killed? While this hurts my heart and is severe upon my life." Then she started beating her face and tore off her collar and fell unconscious. Then Imam arose and sprinkled water [refer Note No. 50] over her face and said,
"O dear sister! Control yourself and desire consolation from Allah alone. And know that everyone upon the earth shall die, while the dwellers of the heavens too shall perish, except the Face (Self) of Allah. Allah who has created with His power, and will make them alive again, and they shall all return to Him, while Allah is Unique. My grandfather was better than me, my father was better than me, and my mother was better than me. It is obligatory upon me and all Muslims to follow the example of the Prophet of Allah (s.a.w.s.)."
Then he consoled her with similar words and said,
"O dear sister! I request you on oath that when I am martyred, do not tear off your collar, nor beat your face or lament upon me."
Then he brought Hazrat Zaynab (a.s.) and made her sit near me and then went to his companions. Then he commanded them to fasten their tents closer to one another and tie the tent-pegs together so as form a circle around them, and block the enemies entrance from three sides so that they could not confront them except from the front." Then Imam returned back to his tent and spent the entire night in prayers, supplications and repentance in Allah's Audience, and his companions followed his example too and started supplicating.
BIBI SAKINA (SAYEDA RUQAYYA) | for everyone |
Sayeda Ruqayya was the young daughter of Imam Husayn... also known as Sakina but in the Arab world she is known as Ruqayya... she was the one who would give peace to the heart of Imam Husayn and after the martyrdom of her father she was terribly tortured. She was slapped. She had her Earrings snatched off her that her earlobes were ripped. She saw the body of her father soaked in blood and arrows all over it. She had her tents burnt and some of her clothes too. She was paraded... a young girl who is known to be only 4 years old.. other traditions differ however she had a rope tied around her neck. She passed away in the prison because of the amount she cried for her Father.
Sakina - the young Hashemite Princess
Zarih (grave) of Bibi Sakina (AS) in Damascus, Syria
Name: Rukaiyya (also known as Sakina)
Father: Imam Husayn-bin-Ali-bin-Abu Talib (A.S) Mother: Bibi Umm-e-Rubab (A.S) Birth: 20th of Rajab Death: 10th Safar, Damascus, Syria
from Karbala to Sham
In the Arab world, the youngest daughter of Imam Hussain(a.s.)(a.s.) is know as Bibi Rukkaya(a.s.) whereas she is know as Bibi Sakina)(a.s.) in rest of the Islamic World. We will refer to her as Bibi Sakina(a.s.). Bibi Sakina (as) was the youngest daughter of Imam Husayn (A.S). Sakina is a derivative of "Sakoon" meaning "Peace". Imam Husayn (A.S) used to pray for a daughter in his night prayers (Salatul Layl), a daughter who would give him peace, and Allah (SWT) granted him his wish and blessed him with Bibi Sakina (AS). Bibi Sakina (as) was the most Beloved Daughter of Imam Husayn (A.S) and She used to sleep on His chest every night. She was a lively child, full of love and happiness. Being the Daughter of the Holy Imam (as), She was different from other children of Her age in many ways. She was very religious and enjoyed reading the Holy Quran and never missed Her Prayers. From a very early age, She took great care to make sure that her head and face were properly covered when in public.
Imam Husayn (A.S) was often heard saying, "A house without Sakina (A.S) would not be worth living in" She always had a sweet and cheerful smile and a very friendly nature. Everyone loved Sakina (A.S). Other children sought her company as much as the grown ups did. She was very generous and always shared whatever She had with others. Like any other four-five year old when Bibi Sakina (as) went to bed at night she wanted to spend some time with her father. Imam Husayn (A.S) would tell Her stories of the Prophets (A.S) and of the battles fought by her grandfather Imam Ali (A.S). She would rest her head on Her Father's chest and Imam Husayn (A.S) would not move from Her until She fell asleep. There was a special bond between Bibi Sakina (AS) and Her paternal uncle, Hazrat Abbas bin Imam Ali (A.S). He loved Her more than he did his own children. If Sakina (AS) requested for anything, Hazrat Abbas (A.S) would not rest until he fulfilled Her request. There was nothing that Hazrat Abbas (A.S) would not do to make Bibi Sakina (A.S) happy. During the journey from Madina to Mecca and then Mecca to Kerbala, Hazrat Abbas (A.S) was often seen riding up to the mehmil (a special saddle made for women) in which Bibi Sakina (A.S) sat to make sure that She had everything She wanted. Bibi Sakina (as) loved Her uncle just as much. While in Madina she would, several times a day, visit the house in which Hazrat Abbas (as) lived with His family and His mother, Ummul-Baneen (A.S). When from the 2nd of Muharram the armies of Yazid bin Muaweyah (L.A) began to gather at Kerbala, Imam Husayn (A.S) said to His sister Lady Zaynab (A.S), "The time has come for You to get Sakina used to going to sleep without My being there". Bibi Sakina (A.S) would follow Her father at night and Imam Husayn (A.S) had to gently take Her to Lady Zaynab (A.S) or Lady Rubaab (A.S) (Bibi Sakina's mother). At Kerbala when from the 7th of Muharram water became scarce, Bibi Sakina (A.S) shared whatever little water She had with other children. When soon there was no water at all, the thirsty children would look at Bibi Sakina (A.S) with their eyes full of hope, and because She could not help them She would have tears in Her eyes. Bibi Sakina's (A.S) lips were parched with thirst. Several times Hazrat Abbas (AS) asked Imam Husayn (A.S) for permission to go and fight the armies of Yazeed (L.A). Each time Imam Husayn (A.S) would reply "Abbas, you are the captain of my army; you are my Alamdaar, (the standard bearer)". Hazrat Abbas (A.S) would never argue with Imam Husayn (A.S). Just then Bibi Sakina (AS) came out holding a dried up mashk (water-bag). The Little Princess of the generous Imam leading 42 children, each with a dry water-bag. The children were shouting as if in chorus - Thirst, consuming thirst, is killing us. She walked up to Hazrat Abbas (A.S) and told Him that the children had all come to Her asking for water. He could see that thirst, aggravated by the scorching heat of the desert, was squeezing their young lives out of them. Hazrat Abbas (A.S) went to Imam Husayn (A.S) and requested His permission to go and get water for Bibi Sakina (A.S) and the other children. Imam Husayn (as) then gave Him permission. Hazrat Abbas (as) put Bibi Sakina's (A.S) mashk on the Alam (Flag), mounted His horse and rode up to Imam Husayn (A.S). Hazrat Abbas (AS) said "I have come to say goodbye". Imam Husayn (A.S) said "My brother, come and embrace me". Hazrat Abbas (A.S) dismounted His horse. There were tears in Imam's (A.S) eyes. As Hazrat Abbas (A.S) prepared to mount His horse, Imam Husayn (A.S) said, "My brother, I want a gift from You. I want Your sword". Hazrat Abbas (A.S), without uttering a word, gave His sword to Imam Husayn (A.S) and rode into the battlefield, armed only with a spear and holding the Alam. Each action of Imam (A.S) verified that He was not out there to fight. When Hazrat Abbas (A.S) went to get the water, the children gathered around Bibi Sakina (A.S) with their little cups, knowing that as soon as Hazrat Abbas (A.S) would bring water, Bibi Sakina (A.S) would first make sure that they had some before taking any herself. Bibi Sakina (AS) was standing next to Imam Husayn (A.S), also with her eyes fixed on the Alam of Hazrat Abbas (A.S). Hazrat Abbas (AS) reached the river bank fighting Yazid's (L.A) men trying to block His way, killing many with his spear. Hazrat Abbas' (AS) bravery was well known among the Arabs and the Yazidi troops started to flee in different directions. As He bent down to fill the mashk, the Alam disappeared from sight. Bibi Sakina (A.S) was frightened and looked at Her father. Imam Husayn (AS) said, Sakina (A.S), Your uncle Abbas is at the river bank. Bibi Sakina (as) smiled and said, Alhamdulillah (all praise is for Allah) and called out all the children to welcome Hazrat Abbas (as). With the water-bag filled, Hazrat Abbas (AS) wanted to get the water to the anxiously waiting children as quickly as possible. Seeing Him gallop towards the camp of Imam Husayn (AS), a Yazidi commander (L.A) shouted from the enemy ranks that if even a single drop of water reaches Husayn's camp, it would be impossible to fight them on the battlefield. When arrows were coming form all sides, Hazrat Abbas (as) had only one thought in His mind, how to protect the water-bag than His life. Hazrat Abbas (A.S) lost both His arms during the attack, trying to save the water-bag. The Alam fell onto the ground. Bibi Sakina (A.S) could not see it any longer. She looked at Imam Husayn (A.S), but He turned His face away. Bibi Sakina (A.S) began to tremble with fear and her eyes filled with tears. She raised her hands and prayed, Ya Allah! Do not let them kill My Uncle Abbas (A.S), I will not ask for water again and ran inside to Her Mother (A.S). When Bibi Sakina (A.S) saw Imam Husayn (A.S) bringing the blood drenched Alam (Flag) she knew that Her Uncle Abbas (A.S) had been martyred. Then came the time when the earth shook and Bibi Sakina (A.S) became an orphan. The tyrannical forces of Yazid (L.A) came to the tents. They looted all the belongings of the Holy Ladies (A.S). They even snatched away the hijab of the Holy ladies (A.S). Bibi Fatimah (A.S) daughters were left bare-headed. Shimr (L.A), the most evil of Yazid's men, came too. Bibi Sakina (as) was crying for Her father. Instead of comforting words, Shimr (L.A) slapped Bibi Sakina's (as) face and pulled off Her earrings. Blood poured from little Sakina's ears. Surely they would stop now. But they did not. One-by-one they set fire to the tents. The helpless ladies and children ran from one tent to another. Little Bibi Sakina's dress was on fire, Her ears were bleeding. All Bibi Sakina (as) wanted was her dear father. She ran to the battlefield screaming: "Father, where are you? Father, father, speak to me father." As the night descended, since Imam Ali bin Husayn (AS) also known as Zain-ul Abideen (A.S), was unconscious due to His illness, Bibi Zaynab (A.S), the Daughter of Imam Ali (A.S), took it on Herself to protect the ladies and children. She gathered all the ladies and children, in to one small space in between the gutted tents. Imam Zain-ul Abideen (A.S) lay on the ground surrounded by these widows and orphans. There was no fire, no light. Only the moon cast its dull light. On the night of Ashura (also known as Sham e Ghreeban), when Imam Husayn (A.S) and his companions were lying headless in the battlefield, back in the tents, Bibi Zaynab (A.S) was gathering all the children and the ladies together. She noticed that little Bibi Sakina (A.S) was missing. She asked Bibi Rubab (A.S), but even She did not know where Bibi Sakina (A.S) was. The two Holy ladies panicked and ran out of the tents looking for Her. The two ladies searched everywhere for the young girl but in vain. Finally, in desperation, Bibi Zaynab (A.S) went to the place where the body of Her brother Imam Husayn (A.S) lay and cried, "O My Brother, Sakina, who you left in My care, is nowhere to be found. Where shall I look for Her in this wilderness?" Just then, the moon came out from behind a cloud and Bibi Zaynab (A.S) saw that little Sakina (A.S) lay on her father, sleeping on His chest like She always used to. She shook the child awake and said, Oh, Sakina! How did you recognize your father? A person can be recognized by their face or the clothes they wear. Your father has neither. Bibi Sakina (A.S) replied innocently, I wanted to tell my father about what the people had done to me. I wanted to tell Him how Shimr (L.A) had robbed the earrings that My Father had so lovingly given me. I wanted to tell Him how he had ripped them from my ears leaving my earlobes torn and bleeding. I wanted to tell Him how the beast had mercilessly slapped me when I cried in pain. When I was running aimlessly in the desert I thought I heard My Father's voice telling Me He was here. I followed the voice and I found Him lying here. I told him everything and then I felt like sleeping on His chest the way I always did, for the last time. So I kept My head on His chest and slept till You came.
Umar Sa'ad (L.A) asked Hur's widow to take some food and water to the ladies and the children. As she neared to where they were resting, Bibi Zaynab (as) recognized her. She stood up, went towards Hur's widow and offered her condolences for the martyrdom of Hur. This gesture on the part of Bibi Zaynab (A.S), who had suffered so much, lost so many, and carrying so much grief in Her heart, is a lesson in real Islamic manners which the world should never be allowed to forget. Hur bin Reyahi (RA) was a general in Yazid's (L.A) army but left the Satanic camp and joined Imam Husayn (AS). Hur (RA) had realised and accepted the Holy status of the Prophet's (SAWW) grandson.
Bibi Zaynab (A.S) took the jug of water. She went to Bibi Sakina (as) who had fallen into a fretful sleep. Gently she stroked Bibi Sakina's (A.S) uncombed hair. Bibi Sakina (A.S) opened Her eyes. Bibi Zaynab (A.S) said, "Here is some water Sakina, please drink a little. You have been thirsty for so long. On hearing the word 'water' Sakina cried out hopefully, has my uncle Abbas come back? When she was told that Hur's widow had brought the water, she got up, went to Hur's widow, thanked her and then asked Bibi Zaynab (A.S), Have you all drank water? Bibi Zainab (A.S) shook her head. Bibi Sakina (A.S) asked, why then do you ask Me to drink water? Bibi Zaynab (A.S) said, because, My dear, You are the youngest". Bibi Sakina (A.S) replied, no, Asghar is the youngest. Bibi Sakina (A.S) took the jug of water, ran towards where Asghar (A.S) lay buried, crying O Asghar, O Asghar. Ali Asghar (as) was Bibi Sakina's baby brother. The Yazidees (LA) killed the six-month-old child with an arrow when Imam Husayn (AS) requested them to give him some water as he was dying of thirst. This was how the homeless spent their night at Kerbala. This was Sham-e-Ghareban, the night of the homeless. They had lost everything. Their men had died. Their children had been killed. In this desolate desert the fourth Imam, Imam Zain-ul Abideen (A.S), the women and the remaining children are huddled where only a few hours earlier stood their camps. Hazrat Abbas (A.S), Qasim (A.S) and Ali Akbar (A.S) had taken turns to guard the camps. Now, the daughters of Imam Ali (A.S) and Bibi Fatimah (A.S), Bibi Zaynab (A.S) and Bibi Kulthoom (A.S), lay awake to make sure that Imam Zain-ul Abideen (A.S) and the children were not attacked. |

And, avoiding any alcoholic beverage.”

Imam Amir-ul-Mu’mineen Ali (a.s.) said: “For the God-fearing, prayer is a means of seeking nearness to Allah; and for the weak, the Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) is as good as Jihad (fighting in the way of Allah). For every thing there is a levy, and the levy of the body is fasting. The Jihad of a woman is to afford pleasant company to her husband.”
Nahjul-Balagha, saying 136
The Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h.) said: “There comes no night but that the angel of death calls to the dead in the graves and inquires what they regret for today when they have vividly seen (and known) this (next life). Then the dead will say: ‘Verily, we regret and envy the believers who are in their mosques and they are praying while we are not; they give alms and we do not; they fast during Ramadhan but we do not; they donate in charity what they have more than the need of their family members while we do not; …”

If you had seen Ja’far-ibn-Muhammad when he was on his deathbed, you would have observed a wonderful thing: He opened his eyes and said to gather all of his relatives.’ Then, she continued saying that they gathered them all with no exception.
