Surah al-Hadid,Surah al-Mujadilah, Surah al-Hashr, Surah al-Mumtahanah | for everyone |
Surah al-Hadid (The Iron) 57
This is a ‘madani’ surah and it ha 29 ayaat. The Holy Prophet (SAWW) said that the reciter of this surah will be counted from among the staunch believers. Imam al Baqir (AS) has said that whoever recites all the surahs that start with Tasbih of Allah (SWT) before going to sleep, will not die before meeting the 12th Holy Imam (AS) and after his death, he will have the honour of being a neighbour of the Holy Prophet (SAWW).
It is narrated from Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq that if surah al-Hadid and al-Mujadilah are recited in the faraa’idh (compulsory prayers) frequently, then the reciter will never face any punishment of Allah (SWT) in this world and will not see any evil from his family. If recited by a prisoner, he will be released soon. If worn on the neck as a talisman(ta’weez), the wearer will not be killed in war. This surah also makes one courageous.
Surah al-Mujadilah (The Pleading One) 58
There are 22 ayaat in this surah and it was revealed in Madinah. The Holy Prophet (SAWW) said that the one who recites this surah will be from among the thankful servants of Allah (SWT) on the Day of Judgement. If surah al-Mujadilah is recited near a sick person, or worn by the sick person as a talisman(ta’weez), he will be cured of his illness. If recited on anything that has been buried in the ground, it will remain protected until the person himself removes it.
Reciting this surah brings a feeling of ease to a restless person. Constant recitation also protects one from thieves. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (AS) has said that recitation of this surah keeps one safe from the evil designs of Jinn and men. If recited on dust or sand and then thrown towards the enemy, he is easily overcome.
Surah al-Hashr (The Banishment) 59
This surah is ‘madani’ and it has 24 ayaat. It is narrated that whoever recites this surah will be sent salutations from Jannah, Jahannam, the angels, the Heavens, the Earth, the trees, the birds, the sun and the moon and these will pray for the forgiveness of his sins. When he dies, he will die a martyr. If a person recites both surah ar-Rahman and surah al-Hashr then one angel will be assigned to protect him at all times.
If a four-rak’ah prayer is recited where after surah al-Hamd surah al-Hashr is recited, then whatever important work one goes to do will be successful (with the condition that it is not a sin). Drinking water in which this surah has been dissolved is good for memory and concentration. If this surah is recited for forty consecutive days without missing a day, it will make even the hardest task become an easy one.
Surah al-Mumtahanah

This surah was revealed in Makkah and it has 13 verses. It is narrated from Imam Ali Zainul Abideen (AS) that if a person recites this surah in any of his prayers (salaat), his heart will become filled with faith and belief. On the Day of Judgement, all the believing men and women will pray for him to be forgiven by Allah (SWT).
Recitation of this surah increases the acuity of vision and protects the reciter and his children from insanity. The Holy Prophet (SAWW) has said that angels send salutations and pray for the forgiveness of the one who recites this surah. If he dies on that day then he will have died as a martyr. Drinking water in which this surah has been dissolved also acts as a cure for some ailments.

Allah (SWT) will then tell him to point out those people who used to recite this surah and he will name them. Then he will be allowed to beg pardon for those whom he names and Allah (SWT) will pardon them.
The Imam (AS) also said that if a person dies after reciting this surah, then is considered a martyr. Writing this surah and keeping it makes all difficulties and problems vanish and also cures eye ailments. Writing it on the walls of a house keeps away all types of household pests. Reciting this surah on a dead person leads to all his sins being forgiven and if the person is on his deathbed then he will die with ease.
Keeping this surah in one’s possession is a means of increase in sustenance. Imam Ali Zainul Abideen (AS) has narrated that if a person recites this surah (at night) on the first night of the lunar month and then continues to recite the same surah, increasing the number of times to coincide with the date, such that on the tenth night he recites it ten times, until the fourteenth night, then his sustenance will increase greatly.

. . . that the avocado has been called the world's most perfect food? It has achieved this distinction because many nutritionists claim it not only contains everything a person needs to survive -- but it has also been found to contribute to the prevention and control of Alzheimer’s, cancer, heart disease, diabetes and other health conditions.
The avocado (Persea gratissima or P. americana) originated in Puebla, Mexico and its earliest use dates back to 10,000 years B.C. Since AD 900, the avocado tree has been cultivated and grown in Central and South America. In the 19th century, the avocado made its entry into California, and has since become a very successful commercial crop. Ninety-five percent (95%) of U.S. avocados are gown in Southern California.
The avocado, also called the alligator pear, is a high-fibre, sodium- and cholesterol-free food that provides nearly 20 essential nutrients, including fibre, is rich in healthy monounsaturated andpolyunsaturated fats (such as omega-3 fatty acids), vitamins A, C, D, E, K and the B vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin, vitamin B-6, vitamin B-12 and foliate) -- as well as potassium.
Foods naturally rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as avocados, are widely acknowledged as the secret to a healthy heart, a brilliant brain and eagle eyes.
Dr. Daniel G. Amen, a clinical neuroscientist, psychiatrist, brain-imaging expert and author of the New York Times bestseller Change Your Brain, Change Your Life counts avocados as one of the top brain-healthy foods that can help prevent Alzheimer's disease. That's not only because of the avocado's omega-3 fatty acid content but also its...
Vitamin E content -- An international journal called Alzheimer’s Disease and Associated Disorders, reported its findings from years of clinical trials -- high doses of Vitamin E can neutralize free radicals and the build-up of proteins to reverse the memory loss in Alzheimer’s patients; reverse symptoms of Alzheimer's in the early stages and retard the progression of the disease;
Foliate content -- helps to prevent the formation of tangled nerve fibres associated with Alzheimer’s.
The virtues of the avocado are too numerous to mention, but here are just a few more health benefits that its nutritional profile provide:
* Monounsaturated Fats -- These types of fats help control triglycerides in the bloodstream, lower blood cholesterol and control diabetes.
* Foliate -- This water-soluble B vitamin promotes healthy cell and tissue development. According the National Institute of Health's Office of Dietary Supplements, "This is especially important during periods of rapid cell division and growth such as infancy and pregnancy. Foliate is also essential for metabolism of homocysteine and helps maintain normal levels of this amino acid." * Lutein -- This is a carotenoid (a natural pigment) that protects against cataracts and certain types of cancer, and reduces the risk of macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in adults 65 years of age and older. Avocados contain 3 or more times as much lutein as found in other common vegetables and fruits. • Oleic acid and Potassium -- Both of these nutrients also help in lowering cholesterol and reducing the risk of high blood pressure. |
You can add avocados to your diet in many ways:
1) the easiest way is to cut the avocado in half and sprinkle it with herbal seasoning or maple syrup.
2) Chop the avocado and add it to a salad, or use it as a topping or side garnish for soup.
3) Mash an avocado and spread it on bread or a bagel (in place of butter or cream cheese).
4) Cut an avocado in half and fill the little hollow (left after you remove the pit) with your favourite healthy topping such as herbed rice or couscous.
5) Make an avocado dressing or the crowd-pleasing guacamole dip to add flavour to raw or steamed vegetables. You can easily find many avocado recipes online.
Blended with fruit, avocados make a rich and delicious snack, side dish or dessert -- and produces highly-nutritious baby food which delivers "good fat" for baby's brain and physical development.
Before you indulge in avocados to your heart's content, however, remember that they have lots of calories because of their fat content. According to WebMD, "A medium-sized avocado contains 30 grams of fat, as much as a quarter-pound burger. That's why diet experts have long urged Americans to go easy on avocados in favour of less fatty fruits and vegetables. But now nutritionists are taking another look. They're finding that most of the fat in an avocado is monounsaturated -- the "good" kind that actually lowers cholesterol levels. Thanks to this new understanding, the U.S. government recently revised its official nutrition guidelines to urge Americans to eat more avocados.

THE SUPREME FAST | for everyone |
Bismilla-heer-Rahmaneer-Raheem
As-salamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatoh,
Holy Prophet Muḥammad al Mustafā (S.A.W.W) was asked
“Which fast is supreme?"
He (s.a.w.w.) said, “The fasts of Shaban for the welcoming of Ramadan.”

RAMADHAN THE SUPREME AMONG ALL OTHER MONTHS | for everyone |
Imām Muḥammad ibn ‘Alī al-Baqir (a.s.) says that the month of Ramzān was nearing and three days of Sha'abān were left when the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.w.) told Bilal (r.a.) to call people to him. When people came, then
Holy Prophet Muḥammad al Mustafā (S.A.W.W) mounted the pulpit and praised and glorified Allāh . Then he said,
“The month, which you are going to have now is supreme among all other months. There is a night in this month, which is better than a thousand months. The doors of Hell are closed in this month and the doors of Paradise are opened. One who is not forgiven in this month also Allāh distances him. Similarly, a person has parents and is not able to get himself forgiven Allāh distances him. One who does not recite Salawat when my name is mentioned in front of him, his salvation is not possible and Allāh distances him.”

Can I Borrow $25?.......... | for everyone |
A woman came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find her 5-year old son waiting for her at the door.
SON: 'Mummy, may I ask you a question?'
MUM: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the woman.
SON: 'Mummy, how much do you make an hour?'
MUM: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the woman said angrily..
SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'
MUM: 'If you must know, I make $50 an hour.'
SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: 'Mummy, may I please borrow $25?'
The mother was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.'
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door..
The woman sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After about an hour or so, the woman had calmed

After about an hour or so, the woman had calmed
down , and started to think:
Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and he really didn't ask for money very often.The woman went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.
'Are you asleep, son?' She asked.
'No Mummy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.
'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the woman. 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $25 you asked for.'
The little boy sat straight up, smiling.. 'Oh, thank you Mummy!' he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.
The woman saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.
The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his mother.
'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the mother grumbled.
'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied.
'Mummy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.'
The mother was crushed. She put his arms around her little son, and she begged for his forgiveness.
It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $50 worth of your time with someone you love.
If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours. But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

WORDS FROM THE MASTER TO GUIDE US | for everyone |
The Commander of the Faithful Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) describes the Qur’an as follows: “Then Allah(Glorified and Exalted is He) revealed to him (the Prophet (blessings of Allah be upon him and his progeny)) the Book.
• It is a light whose radiance shall not be extinguished;
• A lamp whose flame shall not die;
• An ocean whose depth shall not be fathomed;
• A path which shall not lead astray;
• A blaze whose brilliance shall not be darkened;
• A criterion whose evidence shall not be suppressed;
• An elucidation whose cornerstones shall not be demolished;
• A cure with which there is no fear of ailments;
• A power whose supporters cannot be defeated;
• A truth whose helpers will not be forsaken.
• Thus, it is the source of faith and its prosperity;
• It is the fountain-head of knowledge and its vastness;
• The meadow of justice and its flowing streams;
• The support of Islam and its foundation;
• The valleys of the truth and its fields;
• An ocean that shall not be drained by those who draw upon it;
• A spring that shall not be exhausted by those who draw from it;
• A watering place that shall not be depleted by those who come to it;
• A station whose road the travelers do not miss;
• A signpost which the wayfarers will always see;
• The hilltops that cannot be bypassed by those who seek them.
• Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has made it the quencher of the thirst of scholars,
• A vernal season for the hearts of the jurists,
• A destination for the path of the righteous,
• A cure after which there is no malady,
• A light which does not alternate with darkness,
• A rope whose knots are firm,
• A stronghold whose peak is impregnable.
• It is power for whoever cultivates it,
• Peace for whoever dwells on it,
• A guidance for whoever follows it,
• A laudable act for whoever embraces it,
• An argument for whoever speaks for it,
• A witness for whoever fights for it,
• A sharp instrument for whoever bases his arguments on it,
• A support for whoever supports it,
• A means of deliverance for whoever employs it,
• A sign for the discriminating, a shelter for whoever seeks healing,
• A source of knowledge for whoever has sense,
• And the best narrative for its transmitters,
• And a means for the one who sits in judgment.”
SERMON OF IMAM ALI (A.S.) | for everyone |
- O' people take this saying of the last of the Prophets that he who dies from among us is not dead, and he who decays (after dying) from among us does not really decay. Do not say what you do not understand, because most of the Right is in what you deny. Accept the argument of one against whom you have no argument. It is I. Did I not act before you on the greater thaqal (ath-thaqal al-akbar, i.e. the Qur'an) and did I not retain among you the smaller thaqal (ath-thaqal-al-asghar, i.e. the descendants of the Prophet).
- I fixed among you the standard of faith, and I taught you the limits of lawful and unlawful. I clothed you with the garments of safety with my justice and spread for you (the carpet of) virtue by my word and deed.
- I showed you high manners through myself. Do not exercise your imagination about what the eye cannot see or the mind cannot conceive.
A part of the same sermon, about Banu Umayyah
Till people begin thinking that the world is attached to the Umayyads, would be showering its benefits on them, and lead them to its clear spring for watering, and that their whip and sword will not be removed from the people. Whoever thinks so is wrong. There are rather a few drops from the joys of life, which they would suck for a while and then vomit out the whole of it.
THE MARK OF A BELIEVER- SILENCE | for everyone |
He who speaks more commits more errors. He who commits more errors becomes shameless. He who is shameless will have less fear of Allah. He whose fear of Allah is less, his heart dies. He whose heart dies enters the fire. He who knows that his speech is also a part of his action speaks less except where he has some purpose." – Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him)
There are numerous authentic traditions attributed to the Holy Household of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them) on the importance of silence. In fact, silence was one of the very characteristic qualities of the companions of the Prophets and Imams as well as the Prophets and Imams themselves. It is one of the many important qualities one must acquire in his quest for the Divine. It is a sign of many virtues such as a strong intellect (Aql) and wisdom. Therefore, we should strive to make silence one of the defining qualities of our personality.
What is so good about silence that the Ahlul Bayt stressed its importance to the faithful? It must be more than a mere absence of noise. One might notice among friends that silence is avoided, even feared. So much so, in fact, that when there is a gap of silence during a conversation, someone will say something nonsensical just to escape the unbearable void of awkwardness. Still, what's the big deal about silence?
Silence cultivates one's spirituality and feeling of nearness to Allah. The more we adopt the practice of silence in our lives, the more beautiful we will find it to be. Let us elaborate on some of its benefits.
Tranquility
First and foremost, tranquility. Every morning, if one allocates even a quarter of an hour to the practice of silence before going to work or school, he will face the challenges of the day ahead in a positive manner. If one lets the silence permeate into every single part of his body, the feelings of anxiety and stress will disappear. Similarly, after a hard day's work, or just ten minutes before prayer time, if one devotes a few minutes to silence, he will find it easier to concentrate during his worship. He will feel closer to Allah.
Reflection
Simply put, shut your mouth and open your mind. Wherever you go, whatever you do, don't say a word. Just observe what you're doing and what others are doing. Observe everything. Don't judge, just watch quietly and absorb everything around you. Eventually, if you do this for long enough, you will find yourself organizing and sifting through all those thoughts in your head. You will discard the rubbish, and you will save the jewels. You will think about your experiences and the experiences of others, and you will extract valuable lessons that will help you in life. You will begin to see Allah's beauty in every single thing, be it your fingers on the keyboard or the waves in the sea. You begin – there is no other way to put this – to understand.
Wisdom
Imam Ali says that the wiser man is, the less he will speak. Think about this for a second. Wisdom will come about as you reflect on the nature of everything. You'll adopt silence because it's the smart thing to do: silence guards secrets, silence controls the tongue, silence gets rid of nonsense (in your head as well as in your speech), silence sharpens the wit, and silence increases the value of your words. Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said that one who knows the value of his speech will also know the value of silence. In fact, if one adopts silence, he will value his speech and therefore guard it like he guards his wealth.
Intellect
Finally, silence strengthens one's Aql. The carnal self (the Nafs) thrives on foolishness. It feeds on impulsive and thoughtless actions, and therefore, speech. Realize, as our holy Imam says, that your speech is a part of your action. If you think before you act, you will think before you speak. If you think before you speak, you will stop saying foolish things accidentally. You will stop unintentionally revealing your secrets (and the secrets of others). Furthermore, silence gives one control over his emotions, especially anger. It is said that anger is a type of madness. Subdue that anger with silence, and you will put an end to a great many detrimental things in your life.
Some ways to adopt silence in your life
I offer these tips as I have found them to help me out a lot:
- Ten minutes before beginning your prayer, sit on the prayer mat and just be silent whilst fixing your eyes on one spot.
- Before you say anything, plan exactly what you're going to say.
- Be quiet during "discussions" devoid of knowledge and facts. Also, if you see a discussion heading towards an argument, be silent.
- If you don't know, say you don't know.
- If you're getting angry, be silent. If someone else is getting angry at you, be silent. Imam Khomeini mentioned this piece of advice to his daughter and son in-law.
AN AGENDA FOR THE MONTH OF RAMADHAN.... | for everyone |
RAMADHAN
AN AGENDA FOR THE MONTH OF
A SERMON BY THE HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.A)
Sheikh Saduq relates from an authentic source that Immam Ali ibn Musa al-Rida, peace be upon him, related from his ancestors, who related it from Amir-al-Mominin ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib, peace be upon him, that the latter said that one day, the Prophet of Allah delivered the following sermon to them:
“O People! The Month of Allah (Ramadhan) has approached you with His mercy and blessings. This is the month that is the best of all months in estimation of Allah. Its days are the best among the days; its nights are the best among the nights. Its hours are the best among the hours.
This a month in which He has invited you. You have been, in this month, selected as the recipients of the honors of Allah, the Merciful, in this holy month, when you breathe, it has the thawab (heavenly reward) of ‘Tasbeeh (the praise of Allah on rosary beads), and your sleep has the thawab of worship.
Your good deeds are accepted this month. So are your invocations, Therefore, you much invoke your Lord, in right earnest, with hearts that are free from sins and evils, that Allah may bless you, observe fast, in this month, and recite the Holy Qur’an.
Verily ! The person who may not receive the mercy and benevolence of Allah in this month must be very unfortunate having an end as bad (in the Hereafter). While fasting, remember the hunger and thirst of tomorrow in Qiyamat. Give alms to the poor and needy. Pay respects to your elders.
Have pity on those younger than you and be kind towards your relatives and kinsmen. Guard your tongues against unworthy words, and your eyes from such scenes that are not worth seeing (forbidden) and your ears from such sounds that should not be heard by you.
Be kind to the orphans so that when your children become orphans they also may be treated with kindness. Do invoke that Allah may forgive your sins. Do raise your hands at the time of Salat (prayers), as it is the best time for asking His mercy. When we invoke at such times, we are answered by Him, when we call Him, He respond, and when we ask for anything it is accepted by Him.
O people! You have made your conscience the slave of your desires; make it free by invoking Him for forgiveness. Your back is breaking under the heavy load of your sins, so prostrate before Him for long intervals (i.e. be in Sajjada for longer time) and make the load of your sins lighter by this act.
Do understand full well that Allah has promised in the name of His Majesty and Honor that He will not take to task such people who offer Salat in this month and perform ‘sajda’ (prostration), and will guard their bodies against the Fire of Hell on the Day of Judgment.
O’People! If anybody amongst you arranges for the ‘iftar’ (food for the ending of the fast) of any believer, then Allah will give him a reward as it he has set free a slave. He will forgive his minor sins.
Then the companions of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said:
“But everybody amongst us does not have means to do so.”
The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) told them:
“Keep yourself away from the Fire of Hell, by inviting for iftar, though it may consist of only half of date or simply with water if you have nothing else. O’people anybody who may cultivate good manners in this month will walk of the Sirat (Bridge) in ‘Qiyamat’ though his feet may be shaking.
Anybody who makes his servants (male or female) takes light work, in this month Allah will make easy his accounting on the Day of Judgment.
Whoever, offers Sunnat (Recommended) prayers in this month, Allah will give him a certificate of freedom from Hell. Whosoever offers on ‘Wajib’ Salat this month, for him the Angels will write the rewards of 70 such prayers that were offered by him in other month.
Whosever recites repeatedly ‘Salawat and Salam’ on me, Allah will keep the scales of his good deeds heavy, when in Qiyamat the scales of others will be tending towards lighter side..
Whosoever recites in this month one ‘Ayat’ (verse of the Holy Qur’an), he will be rewarded in a manner as it he had recited the full Qur’an in the other months.
PRAYERS OF OUR BELOVED 4TH IMAM (A.S.) | for everyone |
1. Oh God! I take asylum and refuge with you from the revolt, and rebellious (attitude) refractoriness, of the anger and jealousy and the scarcity of patience, and extravagance and intemperance in life.
Oh God! Keep me alive till my life is led in your service and obedience and when it becomes the pasture and meadow of Satan, take me towards yourself and take my life.
2. Oh sons! Respect you father and mother because if the father was not there you would not have come into existence. Look at the mother that she looks after you with all of her existence (energies). She is not afraid of it that she herself remains hungry and feeds you. She herself remains cloth less (without dress) and covers (dresses) you. She remains in the sun and places you in the Shadow. You cannot thank her. This is God who has the power of thanking her (giving her the reward).
3. Watch over and attend your child because his good or bad (virtues) are related and connected to you and you are responsible for his training and guidance.
4. Be kind to your brother and sister because he/she is your hand (helper) and your power. Help him against the enemy and be his well wisher.
5. Respect your teacher and be polite in his assembly (session) and listen carefully to his words. Do not talk loudly before him. If somebody questions him about something do not reply before he does although you may know the answer to that (question).
6. Respect your neighbor and help and assist him. If you happen to observe a fault or sin of him do hide it and when he slips (commits sin) admonish him.
7. Be just in your conduct and behavior with friend and love him as he loves you.
If he makes up his mind to commit a sin stop him from that and always be a blessing for him, not a torment for him.
Oh God! Keep me alive till my life is led in your service and obedience and when it becomes the pasture and meadow of Satan, take me towards yourself and take my life.

Why is fasting prescribed particularly in the month of Ramadan for Muslims? | for everyone |
It is also considered sacred because it contains the Night of Power (Laylatul Qadr). “Qadr” literally means destiny, and on this night God determines each and every event to occur during the next year to any and all of His creation.
Imam as-Sadiq, peace be upon him, informs us that, “During Laylatul Qadr, the angels, the spirit, and the trusted scribes all descend to the lower heavens and write down whatever God decrees that year, and if God wishes to advance something or postpone it or add thereto, He orders the angel to erase it and replace it with whatever He decrees.”
The Holy Prophet of Islam, peace be upon him and his family, tells us about the great blessings of the month of Ramadan.
“[The month of Ramadan is] overflowing with advantages, merciful, ready to put up your sins of omission and commission to God for obtaining his forgiveness. Its days, nights and hours, in the estimation of God, are more select, refined and important than the days, nights and hours of other months. It surpasses all months in merits and favors.…. So, sincerely, free from evil and sinful thoughts and actions, with clear conscience, pray and request that God may give you heart and confidence to observe fast… throughout this month..”
Muslims observe fast, as in any act of devotion, to seek nearness to God, seek His pleasure and Forgiveness, and generate a spirit of piety in Man. Fasting in this month honors the revelation of God’s word and purifies one in preparation for the night of decrees and in hope of forgiveness. Fasting is a yearly spiritual renewal, given abundant reward in this month of God’s Mercy, that is part of the Islamic path to the ideal self.
