for everyone
Almighty Allah, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek your direction and Guidance.
We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we Have done.
We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it Welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it Choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it Justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our Children and called it building self esteem...
We have abused power and called it Politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and Pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.  Ameen!

If your father is a poor man,
it is your fate but,
if your father-in-law is a poor man,
it's your stupidity.

I was born intelligent -
education ruined me.

Practice makes perfect.....
But nobody's perfect.......
so why practice?

If it's true that we are here to help others,
then what exactly are the others here for?

And behind every unsuccessful man, there are two.

Every man should marry.

and when they marry they become otherwise.

Success is a relative term.
It brings so many relatives.

Whenever Imam Zeinul Abideen (A.S.) gave alms, he would kiss his own hands.

When they asked him the reason, he said:
Before alms is put in the hand of

needy man, it is placed in God¹s hand.

Imam Ali (A.S.) has said: ³When you give alms to a needy man, the alms
giver should kiss his hand, for God receives the alms before it is put in the hand of the needy man, since God is the Receiver of the alms.²

The Holy Prophet (SAW) has said: ³Alms given by a believer is put in the
hand of God before it is put in the needy man¹s hand.²

Then the Holy Prophet recited verse 104 of the Quranic chapter Tawbah
(Repentance): ³Do they not know that Allah accepts repentance from His
servants and takes the alms and that Allah is the Oft-returning (to mercy),the Merciful?²

Imam Sadeq (AS) has been quoted as saying: God says:For every good deed
have appointed a deputy to receive it save alms which I Myself receive immediately. A man or a woman may give one or half date as alms but I will make it big as a colt grows into a horse and young camel grows into a camel to as to meet me on the Day of Judgment  while one or half date has become as big as Ohud Mountain.²

Imam Sadeq (AS) has said: ³Increase your sustenance through alms-giving.²

One day Imam Sadeq said to his son ³Muhammad²: My son, how much of
allowance is left with you?
-Forty Dinars
-Take it out and give alms in the way of God.
-We have nothing other than this.

³Give it out in the way of God so that He will reward it to us. Don¹t you
know that everything has a key and the key to sustenance is alms? Therefore
give alms.²

The son of the Imam did so. Ten days had hardly passed when forty thousand
Dinars were sent for the Imam by someone.

The Imam also said: ³Alms-giving in the way of God will help repay debts
and leave blessings behind.²

The Imam further said: ³Whenever you become destitute, do business with God
through alms-giving.²

Imam Baqer (AS) has said: ³Surely alms-giving repels seventy afflictions of
the world including a bad death. Surely an alms-giver never dies a bad
death.²

It is related that one day Jesus (AS) and his disciples were sitting
together when a man passed by them. Jesus (AS) said to his disciples: ³This
man will die soon. After the passage of some time, they noticed that the
man passed by them while he was carrying a load of wood. The disciples asked: O

spirit of God! You said he would die soon where as he is still living.

Jesus said to that man: Put down your load of wood. He did so and opened  it.
They immediately saw that a big black snake with a stone in its mouth was
among the wood. Jesus said to that man: What have you done today? He said:
O spirit of Allah, I had two loaves of bread. I met a beggar. I gave one of
them to him (wee it not for his charity, that black snake would bite and
kill the man).

Imam Sadeq (AS) said: ³Every person who gives alms, God will give a better
recompense to his children after his death.²

On verse 36 of the Quranic Chapter Hajj ³...and feed the poor man who is
contented and beggar...²

Imam Sadeq (AS) has been quoted as saying: ³The poor man who is contented

is one who asks for something and beggar is your friend.²
Imam Sadeq (AS) was in Mina where a poor man came to him. The Imam ordered

a bunch of grapes to be given to him. The poor man said: I do not need it. I

need money. The Imam said: May God increase your sustenance? That man went

on his way empty-handed. Then another poor man came along and the Imam gave

him three single grapes. The poor man took those three single grapes saying:

³Praise is due to the Lord of the worlds² who gave my sustenance. The Imam
who saw this scene said to him: Wait. The Imam said to his servant: how
many Dirhams are on you? He said: About twenty Dirhams. The Imam said: Give all

Dirhams to him. The poor man took all Dirhams and said: Praise is due to

Allah the Lord of the worlds. O God! This bounty comes from you. You are

One and have no partner. The Imam further said: Wait.

Then he took off the shirt he was wearing and said: Put it on. That man put
on the shirt and said; Praise is due to Allah that gave a shirt and made
me happy. O servant of God! May God reward you. With these words he said good

bye and went away.

The narrator says: we were saying to ourselves: Had he not said good bye,
the Imam would have kept on giving away, for every time the poor man said
praise is due to Allah, the Imam would give him something.

Imam Sadeq (AS) said: ³If a person gives alms and receives his reward, he
should not ever make a business with it or spend it, for the charity
belongs to God and no one should share it with God, for this wealth is like a slave

who has been set free and enslaving him again is not lawful.²

About a person who intended to give alms but the poor man had gone away, it
is related by Imam Sadeq (AS) ³He should give it away and not return it to
his own wealth.²

Kinds of charity

Charity is classified into five categories:
1- Charity on wealth which was discussed.
2- Charity on position is when a man of position intercedes for saving
believers.

The Holy Prophet (SAW) has said:
The best charity is the charity of
tongue.
It was said: O Messenger of Allah, what is the charity of tongue? The Holy
Prophet said: It is intercession through which you can set a captive free,
prevent bloodshed, help your believing brother, and expel evil from him.²

If you treat believing brother fairly with regard to wealth and honor,
these two will be safeguarded.

3- Charity on wisdom is counselling. In this relation, the holy Prophet
said: ³Show the right way to your believing brother with your knowledge and
protect him with your advice, for both are charity.²

4- The charity on tongue is when one can put out the fire of differences
and make peace among them. In verse 114 of the Quranic Chapter, the women
(Nisa), God says:
³There is no good in most of their secret counsels except (in his) who
enjoins charity or goodness or reconciliation between people.....²

5- The charity on knowledge is through is dissemination among those who are
entitled to it. In this relation, the Holy Prophet (SAW) has said:
³One kind of charity is that one should learn and then teach to people what
he has learnt.²

The Holy Prophet (SAW) also said: ³The charity on knowledge is to teach it
to one who does not know it.²

It has been reported on the authority of Imam Sadeq (AS):³Every thing is
subject to charity and the charity on knowledge is to one who is entitled
to it.

مَن لَيس مِن النّاسِ
Those who are not considered as People [Human]
8– Imam al-Sadiq (AS), to a man who asked, ‘Do you consider all these creatures as people?’ said, ‘Exclude from among them those who
  • do not brush their teeth,
  • donate in times of hardship,
  • one who interferes in matters that do not concern him,
  • debates about that which he has no knowledge,
  • one who is sick without an illness,
  • one who falls apart without a calamity,
  • one who opposes his friends in matters of truth that they have agreed upon,
  • a proud person who is proud of his forefathers but he is devoid of their good deeds, so he is like a heath peeling off its bark bit by bit until it reaches its core,
  • and he is like Allah's verse: "They are like cattle; rather they are more astray".[ Qur’an 7:179] [al-Khisal, p. 409, no. 9]
 «إنْ هُمْ إلّا كالأنْعامِ بَلْ هُمْ أضَلُّ سَبيلاً» .
O my Allah, the honour of being Your servant is sufficient.
I am proud of the fact that You are my Lord.
You are just as I want, so make me just as You like me to be.

Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show...
let me do it now...for I shall not pass this way again." (Stephen Grellet)

My Name Is Gossip
I have no respect for justice.
I aim without killing.
I break hearts and ruin lives.
I am cunning and malicious, and gather strength with age.
The more I am quoted, the more I am believed.
I flourish at every level of society.
My victims are helpless.
They cannot protect themselves against me,
Because I have no face.
To track me down is impossible.
The harder you try, the more elusive I become.
I am nobody's friend.
Once I tarnish a reputation, it is never the same.
I topple governments, wreck marriages and ruin careers. . .
Cause sleepless nights, heartaches and indigestion.
I spawn suspicion and generate grief.
I make innocent people cry in their pillows.
Even my name hisses.
I make headlines and headaches.

Before I blast up
I never ask myself:
    'Is it true?
    Is it fair?
    Is it necessary?'

One day Stan appeared before Prophet Moosa [Moses] (a.s), wearing a multicolored cap. He took off his cap and approached Prophet Moosa (a.s)
Prophet Moosa (a.s) inquired as to who he was? He answered: “Iblees”
Prophet Moosa (a.s) said: “May Allah not give residence to anyone near your residence. Why have you donned this cap on your head?”
Satan said: “I attract the sons of Adam through these colors.”
Prophet Moosa (a.s) said: “Tell me the sin which if committed by the son of Adam you overpower him fully”
Satan said: “When he overestimates his deed and gets puffed up and when he underestimates his sin.”
Then he said: “O Prophet Moosa (a.s)! Never stay alone with a woman who is not permissible for you (na-merhrams). Such people I do not leave to my companions but personally make efforts in misleading him and do not leave his side till he indulges in sin.
Also never give any promise to Allah because whoever gives any promise to Allah I do not leave him to my companions but attend personally to him to endeavor that he may not fulfill his promise.
And O Prophet Moosa (a.s)! Whenever you think of giving SADKA (charity) make haste in giving it and act upon it because whenever one intends to give charity I once more pay attention to him than myself and do not leave him to my assistants. I make maximum efforts to make him reluctant.” [Source: Hayat al-Quloob, Part I by Allama Majlisi]

TAQWA
(NEARNESS TO ALLAH (SWT)
The word ‘Taqwa’ is derived from the root ‘waqaya’ which means ‘to safeguard’ or ‘abstain’.  In the Islamic terminology it is defined as the action of restraining oneself from disobeying the commands of Allah (swt). When Imam Ja’far ibn Mohammed ibn Muhammed as-Sadiq (a.s.) was asked to elaborate on the meaning of the word, ‘Taqwa’ he replied: “Submit to the command of (Allah) and do not go near the prohibited.”  It means that one should endeavor to fulfill all the commands of Allah (swt) and abstain from the prohibited things.
‘Taqwa’ consists of the compulsory obedience to Allah (swt) in fulfilling the compulsory duties (wajibaat) and not leaving even a single duty unperformed.  The obligatory commands (wajibaat) are those which, if not carried out, make one liable for punishment.  Also, as far as possible one should try not to forgo the recommended acts (Mustahabbaat).  The recommended acts are those that when performed earn blessings but if not carried out do not make one liable for punishment.
SIN OBLITERATES GOO DEEDS
Certain Greater Sins (Gunah-e-Kabira) render the good deeds void.  It must be mentioned that to refrain from sins is more important than performing good deeds.  The following narrations are quoted in support of this statement:
IMPORTANCE OF ABSTAINING FROM THE PROHIBITED
Imam Ja’far ibn Mohammed as-Sadiq (a.s.) said: “To refrain from eating a single morsel of Haraam is, near Allah, more valued than the performance of two thousand rakats (units) of recommended prayer (Iddatud0-Dai)
The Imam (a.s.) also said: “To forgo a single dirham of prohibited money, is equal near Allah, to seventy accepted Hajjs” further said:
“Strive more to perform good deeds.  However, if you cannot perform a good act (at least) do not disobey (the commands of Allah).  Because if one lays the foundation of a building and does not spoil it, then, even if the progress is slow, the building will definitely rise.  On the other hand if the person who lays foundation and at the same time spoils it, then it is sure that the walls of this building will never be raised.”
The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said: “One the Day of Judgment there would be people whose good deeds will be as heavy as the mountains of Tahama.  Inspite of this it would be ordered that they be tossed into the fire of Hell.”
Upon this someone said: “O! Prophet of Allah (s.a.w.a.), were these people performing ‘salaat’ (prayers)”?
The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) replied: “Yes, they used to pray, fast, and also spend a part of the night in worship.  But, whenever they chanced upon something which gave them pleasure, they used to rush to it without thinking whether it was right or wrong.”

O God bless me with awe for Your Majestic Dignity, as if I am beholding You, and bless me with excellence through piety , and may Your decree benefit me and Your destiny gladden me, so that, I don’t wish to hasten that which is delayed by You, and don’t wish to delay that which You wish to be hastened by me.

What has he obtained who lost You O God? And what has he lost who found You? One who is satisfied with anyone other than- You, O God, has in reality dispossessed himself of everything?

People are slave of this world and their religion is just like saliva or taste on the tongue. They revolve around religion as long as their materialistic needs are well provided; but when they face difficulties, tests & trials, very few people prove to be steadfast.

The Love of Ahlul Bait

He said: Abul Qasim Ja'far b. Muhammad b. Qawalawy al-Qummi - may Allah bless him with mercy, reported to me from his father, who reported from Sa'd b. Abdullah, who reported from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Isa, from al-Hasan b. Ali b. Faddhal, from Asim b. Hamid al-Hannat, from Abu Hamza al-Thumali from Hanash b. al-Mo'tamar, who said:

Once I called upon Amirul Mo'mineen, Ali b. Abi Talib, peace be upon him, while he was at al-Rahbah, reclining. So I said: "Peace be upon you, O, Amirul Mo'mineen and His mercy and His blessing, how are you this morning?" He said: He raised his head and returned the greetings and then said: "I have entered this morning with love for those who love us and patience fro those who hate us. Surely, he who loves us, awaits for repose, happiness and deliverance every day and night. And he who hates us has built a structure whose foundation is laid on the edge of a crumbling bank; which tumbles and tumbles down with him into the fire of hell.

O, Abu Mo'tamar, he who loves us cannot nurse hatred against us in his bosom and he who hates us cannot love us. No doubt, Allah, Most High, created the hearts of the slaves with a propensity to love us and has forsaken those who deviated to hate us. So, those who love us cannot hate us and those who hate us cannot love us; and our love can never be combined with the love of our adversaries in one heart. Allah has not assigned to any man two hearts in his chest - loving one group with this heart and loving those who are their enemies with the other."

He said: Abu Nasr Muhammad b. al-Husain al-Muqri reported to me from Abu Abdillah al-Husain b. Ali al-Razi, who reported from Ja'far b. Muhammad al-Hanafi, who reported from Yahya b. Hashim al-Simsar, who reported from Amru b. Shimr, who reported from Hammad, from Abu al-Zubair, from Jabir b. Abdillah b. Harram al-Ansari, who said:

Once I came to the Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny, and asked: "O messenger of Allah, who is your successor?" He said that the Prophet kept silent for a while, not answering me. Then he said: "O Jabir, may I not answer your question?" So I said:

"My father and my mother be your ransom; By Allah, you maintained a silence, till I thought you were not pleased."

He said: "O Jabir, I was not displeased with you. I was waiting for what the heavens would reveal, and then Jibraeel came to me saying: O Muhammad, your Lord sends you salutations and says unto you: Surely, Ali b. Abi Talib is your executor and your successor over your kinsfolk and the Ummah; and a protector of your Pool (al-Hawdh). He is the bearer of your standard, preceding you into Praradise."

I said: "O Prophet of Allah! Would you say that if someone did not believe in this, I should fight him?" He said: "Yes O Jabir. This status has not been established except for being followed. So whoever follows it, he will be with me tomorrow, (i.e. on the day of Judgement) and whoever opposes it, he will never arrive near me at the Pool (al-Hawdh)."

Imam Ali (A.S.) Based His Government on Social Justice

When the people objected to Imam Ali's equitable distribution of wealth he replied:

(i) If the wealth had belonged to me even then I would have distributed it equally among the people but this wealth belongs to Allah and is meant for distribution among the people and therefore everybody has his right in it.

(ii) To distribute wealth among those who do not deserve it amounts to squandering the wealth. The Holy Qur'an also says. Do not squander your wealth wastefully. The squanderers are indeed Satan's brothers and Satan is ungrateful to his Lord. (Surah Bani Isra'il, 17:27)

(iii) The inequitable and unjust distribution of wealth results in the formation of a group of greedy persons who surround the people and extract money from them through flattery and undue praise and thus makes them ashamed in the eyes of the law of Divine Justice.

Furthermore, Imam Ali says: "Unjustifiable and undeserving donations may enhance the status of a man among his worldly surroundings but he is sadly humiliated in the eyes of Allah. One who spends his wealth in evil ways and on wrong persons, is deprived, by the Lord, of the gratitude of those over whom he had spent; these undeserving beneficiaries usually turn against him and at the time of distress and need he finds them as his worst enemies, censuring his actions and blaming him for his lavish grants". (Sermon—129, p. 322, Peak of Eloquence)

When the regime of the Commander of the Faithful Imam Ali commenced, he revolutionized the entire system, eradicated all irregularities so as to bring the affairs of the State on an even keel. As such the properties unlawfully acquired were confiscated and unjust appointments and dismissals were cancelled. Imam Ali declared: "By Allah! If I had known of this sort of public wealth, even if it was spent in paying the dower of the women or for purchasing slave girls, I would have confiscated it too". I.M.A.M. | Imam Mahdi Association of Marjaeya

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Salam Alikum Dear Believers,
The Imam Mahdi (atfs) Association of Marja'eya (I.M.A.M.) would like to send its condolences on the 40th day (Arbaeen) of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (as).

In addition to being the 40th day after Imam Hussain's martyrdom, the day of Arbaeen is also important because it was on this day that Imam Zayn al-Abideen (as) and the women and children of Ahlul-Bayt (as) were able to leave Damascus and return to Medina. On their way, they stopped in Karbala to build proper burials for their family members and to mourn the tragedy. Hence, the day of Arbaeen is not only one in which the members of Ahlul-Bayt (as) experienced intense grief in returning to the site of the massacre of Imam Hussein (as) and his family and companions, but also one which represents the beginning of azadari and majalis, or mourning gatherings to remember the tragedy of Karbala.

Please remember the characteristics of the believers as listed by our Imam peace be upon him:
  1. Visiting Imam Husayn and other martyrs in Karbala on the day of the 40th, if not possible, recite Ziyaarat of the Holy Imam and other martyrs of Karbala, anywhere you are.
  2. To wear a ring in the right hand.
  3. To put the forehead on the earth (preferably on the earth of Karbala) in prostration.
  4. To pronounce "Bismillahir-Rah'maanir-Rah'eem" in clear and loud voice while praying the salaats.
  5. Pray 51 Rak-a't Namaaz during the 24 hours of the day of Arba-e'en, (17 Rak-a'ts in obligatory, and 34 Rak-a'ts in Naafilah Salaats).
In addition, Imam Jaa'-far bin Muhammad Al Saadiq (A.S.) had advised the faithfuls to recite the following "Ziyaarat" on the day of Arbae'en. The details of this ziyarat and others can be found at: http://www.duas.org/safar/arbaeen.htm

O' creatures of Allah! Fear Allah and anticipate your death by good actions. Purchase everlasting joy by paying transitory things - pleasures of this world. Get ready for the journey, for you are being driven, and prepare yourselves for death, since it is hovering over you. Be a people who wake up when called, and who know that this world is not their abode, and so have it changed (with the next).
Certainly, Allah has not created you aimlessly nor left you as useless. There is nothing between anyone of you and Paradise or Hell except death that must befall him. The life that is being shortened every moment and being dismantled every hour must be regarded very short. The hidden thing namely death which is being driven (to you) by two over new phenomena, the day and the night, is certainly quick of approach. The traveller which is approaching with success or failure (namely death) deserves the best of provision. So acquire such provision from this world while you are here with which you may shield yourself tomorrow (on the Day of Judgement).
So everyone should fear Allah, should admonish himself, should send forward his repentance and should overpower his desire, because his death is hidden from him, his desires deceive him and Satan is posted on him and he beautifies for him sin so that he may commit it and prompts him to delay repentance till his desires make him the most negligent. Piety is for the negligent person whose life itself would be a proof against him and his own days (passed in sin) would lead him to punishment.
We ask Allah, the Glorified, that He may make us and you like one whom bounty does not mislead, whom nothing can stop from obedience of Allah and whom shame and grief do not befall after death.
