Only in America ......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

Only in America .....do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

Only in America .....do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

was selling newspapers in a small village to earn his living.
He was not exceptionally smart at school but was fascinated by

When the people of Jamal set off for Basrah Amir al-mu'minin said:
There is no doubt that Allah sent down the Prophet as a guide with an eloquent Book and a standing command. No one will be ruined by it except one who ruins himself. Certainly, only doubtful innovations cause ruin except those from which Allah may protect. In Allah's authority lies the safety of your affairs. Therefore, render Him such obedience as is neither blameworthy nor insincere. By Allah, you must do so, otherwise Allah will take away from you the power of Islam, and will never thereafter return it to you till it reverts to others.
Certainly, these people are in agreement in disliking my authority. I will carry on till I perceive disunity among you; because if, in spite of the unsoundness of their view, they succeed, the wholeorganisation of the Muslims will be shattered. They are hankering after this world out of jealousy against him on whom Allah has bestowed it. So they intend reverting the matters on their backs (pre-Islamic period), while on us it is obligatory, for your sake, to abide by the Book of Allah (Qur'an), the Sublime, and the conduct of the Prophet of Allah, to stand by His rights and the revival of his sunnah.

The young among you should follow the elders while the elders should be kind to the young. Do not be like those rude people of the pre-lslamic (al-jahiliyyah) period who did not exert themselves in religion nor use their intellects in the matter of Allah. They are like the breaking of eggs in the nest of a dangerous bird, because their breaking looks bad, but keeping them intact would mean the production of dangerous young ones.
A part of the same sermon
About the autocracy and oppression of the Umayyads and their fate
They will divide after their unity and scatter away from their centre. Some of them will stick to the branches, and bending down as the branches bend, until Allah, the Sublime, will collect them together for the day that will be worst for the Umayyads just as the scattered bits of clouds collect together in the autumn. Allah will create affection among them. Then He will make them into a strong mass like the mass of clouds. Then he will open doors for them to flow out from their starting place like the flood of the two gardens (of Saba') from which neither high rocks remained safe nor small hillocks, and its flow could be repulsed neither by strong mountains nor by high lands. Allah will scatter them in the low lands of valleys and then He will make them flow like streams throughout the earth, and through them He will arrange the taking of rights of one people by another people and make one people to stay in the houses of another people. By Allah, all their position and esteem will dissolve as fat dissolves on the fire.

How To Apply For A Business Loan The Easy Way:

When applying for business loans make sure you shop around for the best loan rate and remember banks are always willing to negotiate to secure your business.

There are many people who are trying to start up their own businesses and seek true success. However, this can be quite hard if there is not enough money or capital put up front to get things started. Check out these great tips to learn how to apply for a business loan and get approved in no time at all. Within a week or two, the loan could be in hand and the doors to the new business will be on its way to being opened.
Think about the amount of money that will be needed in order to get everything up and running. New business owners usually have the great concept but never really know how much it is going to cost them in the long run. Do the research for the business that is being opened up and see how much money it is going to take. Try to factor in the emergency costs as well and this will be the overall loan amount needed.

A credit check might be done as well in order to ensure that the loan can be paid on time each and every month. If the current credit score is not in such great condition, make some payments and settle those accounts first to get a credit rating boost. This is also going to help increase the amount of money that may be loaned out at one time. Order a free copy of a credit report and find out what needs to be changed.

After the credit has been looked over and the amount of money needed has been determined, it will be time to shop around for a lender. Banks and other online lenders can easily help to get the funding needed to get the business up and running. How to apply for a business loan is not going to be very difficult once the right lender has been set in place.

The internet is a great way to find a lender and keep from getting ripped off. Look for loan calculators in order to calculate the monthly costs that are needed. Also, read reviews on various lenders to see who does the best business and who will not rip anyone off in the process. Paying high fees as well as interest rates will make paying back the loan much more difficult and might make the business crash after the first year.

Try to map out the right business plan. A lender is going to need to see where this business is going to go in order to ensure that they get their money back. The right plan needs to be mapped out and the right documentation also needs to be included in order to get the most amount for your money. This should only take a little bit of time so make sure that this step is not skipped.

The application process may be completed online without any issues. Simply pinpoint the best lender and begin the process. Some lenders might even enable the process to be completed and signed electronically. This helps new owners get started with the opening process as soon as possible.

Look round right now and get a head start with this great guide on how to apply for a business loan. Once the right loan and lender has been found, finish up and the sign the application to get the money as fast as possible. The sooner this is taken care of, the sooner the doors are going to open.

This once obscure vitamin has been thought to only fortify skeletal structure through the minerals calcium and phosphorous; however, new emerging research shows this vitamin carries many more tasks than just strengthening bones.

Vitamin D and Pre-eclampsia

Pre-eclampsia is a devastating systemic disorder that is characterized by proteinuria (protein in urine), high blood pressure, and edema. This disorder can cause grave health problems for the mother and fetus: pre-eclampsia can cause premature delivery and is the leading cause of maternal and infant illness and death around the globe (causing some 76,000 deaths per year). Pre-eclampsia is, no doubt, a problem that greatly affects mothers and infants. The cause still remains unknown; however, a study carried out by the University of Pittsburgh found that vitamin D deficiency early in gestation is associated with a five-fold increase risk of developing pre-eclampsia.

Vitamin D and Diabetes

Most people in Western societies are familiar with diabetes, particularly that of type II diabetes. Type II diabetes is highly publicized since most diabetes sufferers are afflicted with this particular form of the affliction. However, the smaller subset, those suffering with type I diabetes, have a small advantage over their counter parts. Recent research has demonstrated that those who receive high amounts of vitamin D during childhood have a lower risk of developing type I diabetes later on in life, the greater the amount of vitamin D, the greater the benefit.

Type I diabetes is different than type II in the fact that, it does not arise out of insulin resistance; rather, it comes about because the insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas are destroyed by one's own immune system, starting early in childhood. Though more commonly found amongst Europeans and North Americans, it can affect people from all walks of life.

Vitamin D and Cancer

Vitamin D has also been linked to better outcomes in cancer. In breast, colon and prostate cancer, the sun-shine vitamin has been shown to suppress cancer growth and the formation of blood vessels that feed cancer cells. Furthermore, in a breast cancer study, 24 percent in the breast cancer study had adequate levels of the vitamin at the time of diagnosis. Those who were deficient were more likely to have the cancer metastasize or recur ten years later. Moreover, 73 percent of the deficient were more likely to die.

A study in the International Journal of Cancer found that vitamin D protects cells from oxidative stress. This study used the most biologically active form of the vitamin, vitamin D3 along with nonmalignant human prostate epithelial cells. Metabolism of cells produces free radicals that can damage DNA and contribute to cancer formation and accelerated aging. Vitamin D links with a gene that increases its activity and produces an enzyme that combats free radical damage by clearing the cell of those DNA-damaging substances. This relieves cell stress and retains healthy cells.

Vitamin D and Brain Function

Because of the many vitamin D receptors in the brain, it has been discovered that vitamin D plays a very important role in maintaining and achieving a healthy mind. Though more research in this particular area of vitamin D functions is needed, it is worth mentioning since vitamin D has been indicated in children with brain dysfunction (its exact mechanisms are still unclear at present).

Though behavioral and cognitive difficulties and their association to low vitamin D levels is still a little sketchy, what is known is how low vitamin D levels affect depression in the elderly. Accompanied by an overactive parathyroid, low vitamin D levels have been implicated to increase depression in older adults, and in other mental disorders. This information is particularly important because, instead of treating patients with dangerous psychotropic medications that have hazardous side effects, depression could in the future be treated with a higher intake of vitamin D or more calcium and exposure to sunlight.

Supplementation

Now that many of the health benefits of vitamin D have been shown, it is time to describe where to find this vitamin and who needs it the most. The largest source of this vitamin is the sun. Contrary to popular belief, spending time in the sun daily is not deadly. Though there is such a thing as too much of a good thing, never spending any time in the sun is certainly not the better alternative. Lighter individuals need less time than darker individuals, about 15 minutes in the sun daily. For darker individuals, more time is need than 15 minutes (approximately 30 minutes).

Another source is through diet. Raw milk naturally contains vitamin D, but the largest dietary source
would have to be cod liver oil.

As for who needs vitamin D the most, everybody needs it! However, it has been recently shown that young children and infants tend to be deficient, even though they appear healthy otherwise. Currently, the new info on vitamin D and all its varying abilities has prompted many to deem the recommended daily allowance (RDA) to be far too low -- the highest amount suggested being 600 IU. The Vitamin D Council recommends at least 1,000 IU (or 25 ug/day).

To sum up all this info on supplementing this vitamin: if people get plenty of sunshine, raw milk, and cod liver oil, many would surely reap the benefits of this vitamin.

Overall, vitamin D has been for years underestimated in its abilities and its health benefits. The future only holds more data on how important this vitamin is; therefore, supplementation needs to be more emphasized.

MUHARRAM 1432
THE 40th DAY MARCH to IMAM HUSSAIN in KARBALA
40th-
In the Name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

The 11th Imam, Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him), has been reported to have said:

"There are five traits which distinguish the believer:
  • praying fifty one (units of prayer per day);
  • wearing a ring on the right (hand);
  • having a mark (from prostration) on the forehead;
  • saying "In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful" out loud (during prayer);
  • and visiting (Imam Husain, peace be upon him) on the '40th day'".
(From page 54 of al-Mazaar by Shaykh al-Mufeed)

Believers across the globe, are preparing for the annual march toward Karbala, in order to visit Imam Husain (peace be upon him). On the 20th day of Safar, on the occasion commemorating the 40th day following the martyrdom of the immaculate Imam, believers return to the land of Karbala - just as the captive women and children did on their way back from the tyrant's capital in Shaam, when they attempted to bury the severed head of Imam Husain, alongside his sacred body. The faithful act, out of their unwavering conviction and according to the direction of the immaculate Imams, so much so that this visit has become a distinct characteristic attributed to the believers.

In recent years, the marching masses have been estimated at over five million - swarms of devotees determined to reach the burial grounds of Imam Husain (peace be upon him). The march has been completed amazingly and has turned out in such a way that its success it believed to be due to the hidden hand of the Divine; the Divine Who takes care of the faithful, strengthens their resolve and reinforces them as they support one another, despite of their modest resources.

At the forefront of groups which lead, support, encourage, and maintain the event is the collective group of religious scholars - as well as their representatives and organizations connected to the religious authorities in the Holy City of Najaf. This group contributes effectively and continuously by following up on all issues dealing with the march, such that the "40th day" season and the visiting pilgrims are in the best possible conditions.

Among the offices of the Grand Religious Authorities
  • Grand Ayatollah Sayyid al-Sistani (may God protect him),
  • Grand Ayatollah Shaykh al-Fayyadh (may God protect him),
  • Grand Ayatollah Sayyid al-Hakim (may God protect him),
The office of Grand Ayatollah Shaykh al-Basheer al-Najafi (may God protect him) is also offering important services for the event through an organization called Anwar al-Najafiyya. These critical services include medical aid and provisions such as food, heaters and others.

Moreover, the office of His Eminence Shaykh al-Basheer al-Najafi communicated with us regarding inviting the believers - who are not able to physically participate in the visit, but would still like to gain the rewards and blessings - to support the visitors of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).

This support would manifest, firstly, through their prayers for the visitors, and then by taking care of some of the visitors' necessities.
  • Indeed, $10 would suffice for a blanket to keep a visiting pilgrim warm.
  • Another $10 would cover three meals for a visitor of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).
Remember, these visiting pilgrims may be on a journey for several days, going to and coming from Karbala. Of course, this would be a participation in the visit and a way to venerate the sacred rituals of commemorating Imam Hussain (peace be upon him); and the donor would be visiting by proxy as well.

The Imam Mahdi Association of Marjaeya (I.M.A.M.), the Liaison office of the Religious Authorities, is pleased to answer this call, and participate in helping to make it happen. Therefore, the opportunity is available, for those who are interested, to make donations online, according to the following:

  • A gift of $10 to cover the cost of a blanket for the visitor of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him): Price of the blanket $10.00 X the number of people = total of $_ _. _ _
  • A gift of $10 to cover three meals for a visitor of Imam Husain (peace be upon him): Price of food for one day $10.00 X the number of people = total of $_ _ _. _ _
I WANT TO HELP, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
  • Go to www.IMAM-US.org
  • Choose Services  --> Charitable Contributions
  • From the Payment Type Choose General Donation Payment
  • In the Special Note Box, enter the following:
  • 40th Blankets: (# of blankets) x ($10.00) = (The amount your donating)
  • OR
  • 40th Meals: (# of meals) x ($10.00) = (The amount your donating)
This donation opportunity ends on 18 Safar of 1432 AH (23 January, 2011)

Islam is a philosophy of life. It gives reasons and a set purpose for living. Furthermore, it defines the best ways to secure progress and happiness. This is done by elevating the spiritual side and satisfying the material needs of people.
Islam considers man as a viceroy of God on earth. This status is a fine one, but it is also critical for the requirements must be satisfied. Thus, he is in an envied position, and consequently his acts and behaviour are expected to conform with the high level he is occupying.
The Islamic concepts and laws are inseparable parts of the Islamic ideology. They are the practical expression of Islam in society and life in general. These concepts and laws are essentially concerned with harmonizing people's relationships among themselves, with other beings, and above all with the Creator.
The basic Islamic outlook to this life is that of an introductory course. This worldly life is viewed as a prelude to another eternal life. Therefore, this world is a preparatory stage for people in order to attain the spiritual level which permits them to enter Paradise. The other side of the picture is the horror of Hell for people who misuse the powers at their disposal. Hence, success and failure are not measured with this worldly or materialistic supremacy. The Islamic measure differs from materialistic standard by accounting for the life hereafter. The satisfaction of God is the sublime aim which surpasses all other inclinations and wishes. This is by no account neglecting materialistic supremacy, but putting it in its rightful place. It is with the satisfaction of God that Muslims seek materialistic supremacy.

The Holy Quran says:
Let not control in the land, of those who reject faith, deceive you. A brief enjoyment! Then their abode is hell. And evil is the resting-place. (Qur'an, 3:195-196)
The Holy Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.) said:
"He is not from us who gives up his worldly life in favour of his Hereafter, nor is he who gives up his Hereafter in favour of his worldly life."
The Holy Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.) also said:
Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.
Imam Ali Al-Rida (a.s.) tells us:that we must understand Islam through reason: "The greatest of miracles of Allah is the human mind. It allows ideas to be thought through and reasoned out. Islam appeals to human reason. Man must accept Allah through reason and not through miracles."
