The Holy Prophet Muhammad (S) has said:

“Among all things, the tongue deserves to be imprisoned longer than anything
else.”

(Because most of our sins are committed by it, such as backbiting, telling
lies, defaming, mocking, insulting, etc.)

LETTER OF PROTEST AGAINST MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT AGAINST RULING OF COURT AGAINST SHIAS IN MALAYSIA

1) Shias in Malaysia to Appear Before Court on 20 January:
During the Ashura commemoration event on 15th December 2010, JAIS (state religious authority in Malaysia) raided the Hauzah ar-Redah in Gombak, State of Selangor and arrested 200 people including the local scholar as well as the visiting scholar from Iran.

While all of the attendees at this event seem to now have been released, the two clerics were released on bail and will be appearing at a hearing on 20th January.

If found guilty, the punishments may range from 'six strokes' to 3 years in prison; those held under the Internal Security Act (ISA) can, in theory, be held indefinitely without charge.

For seekers of justice, the top-most responsibility is to stand in solidarity with the oppressed followers of the AhlulBayt (a) in Malaysia.

From the stand of Imam Hussain (a) in Karbala, we learn of our inescapable religious duty to uphold the truth at all times, and to stand against all forms of oppression and injustice.

In this regard, AIM urges one and all to support our brothers and sisters in Malaysia, and apply much needed pressure on the Malaysian government and other relevant bodies such as the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

We also underline that such instances of sectarian provocation serve the interests of the enemies.

Re: Raid on Ashura gathering

I am deeply concerned after learning of the police raid on an Ashura religious gathering where 200 people including the Imam and the visiting Aalim from Iran were arrested on 16th December 2010. Although they have all been subsequently released, the two clerics are due to be charged on 20th January 2011. I sincerely hope that this is not the way Malaysian authorities treat their religious minorities.

The reason I carry such a concern is due to the media coverage of the incident. The portrayal was of a shia threat to Malaysian society by national media. This demonization however was not prevalent in English newspapers, which rather carried the story of the suspension of the leader of the opposition coalition, Ibrahim Anwar, and the walkout of the opposition from parliament.

I feel that the government has used the tool of sectarian demonization in its efforts to deflect scrutiny of its political actions amongst the Malay speaking masses, which will only result in disharmony and tension within society.

You have a responsibility to ensure the safety and welfare of all religious groups in Malaysia and protect them from demonization. Not only are you bound by international law to uphold such principles but also by your own national laws. I suggest you consider carefully the results of such misguided actions on the normal every day people of Malaysia who merely expect and are entitled to worship freely without any form of discrimination.

I would like to urge you to bring my concerns to the attention of the relevant authorities so that these politically driven charges are dropped before the sectarian nature of the media coverage is fuelled further and the demonisation of a minority results in marginalisation and possibly worse.

I look forward to hearing from you that this matter has been brought to a satisfactory conclusion.

Yours sincerely,

2) Shias Unwelcome in Multicultural Malaysia:Tuesday, 04 January 2011 19:29 Hadi Abdul Nour
http://www.islamici nsights.com/ news/internation al-news/shias- unwelcome- in-multicultural -malaysia. html

Ashura gathering attacked in Malaysia

"Even though I personally don't agree with Shia teachings and even frequently criticize and debate with them, I cannot accept the approach of the allegedly democratic Malaysian government in denying the people's right to practice their faith."
- Dr. Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, former Mufti of Perlis, Malaysia, commenting on the Ashura roundup of Shia Muslims, 18 December 2010

The inclusive, multi-ethnic, multicultural nature of Malaysian society was not expansive enough to afford 200 Shia Muslims a December night's peace as they commemorated the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad's grandson, Hussain.

At an Ashura mourning ceremony at the Ali al-Ridha Hussainiyah in Seri Gombak, Selangor where mostly Shia Malays had gathered, state officers from the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) burst in and ordered all attendees detained for having breached Islamic law. It was one of the largest mass arrests on religious grounds in recent Malaysian history.

In a nation where Christians, Chinese Buddhists and Indian Hindus can freely and openly worship, the Malaysian government precludes the Shia from doing likewise, deeming them a "deviant" sect. As will be discussed, the nature of the allegations leveled against the mourners betrays the raid's real instigators.

Shia community leader Kamil Zuhairi Abdul Aziz relayed, "The officers broke into and damaged our prayer hall, a private property where we were having special prayers for the Prophet Muhammad's grandchildren… We were condemned, criticized, slandered and threatened in local media just because we practice what had been preached by our ancestors who were Shia and have lived in Malaysia for centuries."

The participants were eventually released on bail but will soon face trial in the Malaysian Islamic Court on charges of following a banned "movement" which carries a penalty of two years incarceration. In the interim, community representatives appealed to the government-backed Human Rights Commission for assistance. A spokesperson for the watchdog group confirmed their help had been solicited to prevent further crackdowns from occurring.

"If other communities like Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, Sikhs and others have their right to worship and practice under the constitution, then why not us?" asked Abdul Aziz.

Indeed, in a country of 28 million, why are 40,000 Shia singled out?

The JAIS director, Datuk Muhammed Khusrin Munawi, stated that Shias pose a threat to national security because the school permits the killing of Muslims from other schools of thought – a belief repeatedly echoed by state media.

According to Munawi, the mourners violated the Mufti of Selangor's fatwa in which he decreed that Shi'ism is antithetical to the teachings of the Ahlul Sunnah wal Jama'ah and the "true Islam."

Munawi went on to say (with a straight face, we assume): "Hajj is not compulsory for them; visiting Imam Hussain's shrine is sufficient for them to get into heaven; they can combine prayers at any time, Zuhr and Asr together, Maghrib, Isha and Fajr without…conditions like travelling 90 'Marhalah'; some of them which are fanatic and believe that we [Sunnis] are not Muslims and our blood it is 'Halal' for them; it is a jihad if they could kill Ahlul Sunnah wal Jama'ah…for me, this makes them the most dangerous deviants compared to other deviant teachings."

Promulgating misconceptions and outright falsehoods like those described by Munawi is the trademark of the party that regularly incites this type of Fitna (division between Muslims). So who are they?

In the Arab world's notoriously anti-Iranian, secular dictatorships, persecution of Shia Muslims is justified based on their alleged Iranian sympathies. They are regarded as "fifth columnists" disloyal to the state (although the actual fear is over the little tolerance they have for unjust, despotic rule and their penchant to rise against it). But such political considerations are absent in Malaysia, an ostensible Islamic state with courts that rule according to Shari'ah law.

Instead, what occurred on the night of Ashura in Gombak points to the ominous and encroaching influence of Wahabism in Southeast Asia – one that habitually distorts and derides Shia Islamic practices or any act promoting the teachings of Ahlul Bayt.

As Dr. Zainul Abidin remarked, "Malaysia is trying to become a country a la Taliban that only allows one school of thought."

It is hoped that the Human Rights Commission will play a constructive role in mediating between the Shias, the government, and the courts – for it is time to debunk the ridiculous myths being peddled about the Shia and extend the welcome mat to all of Malaysia's confessionals groups, equally.

In July of 2005/2006, Malaysia participated in endorsing the Amman Message which specifically recognized Shia as 1 of 8 valid mazhabs (school of thought) of Muslims worldwide and the scholars involved also forbade takfir (declaration of apostacy) between Muslims. Sadly, the recent ill-treatment of the local Shia community by one of Malaysian Islamic Authorities (JAIS) is really unbecoming unless the people with authority are victims of the doctrine of Wahhabism which is actually the agenda of the enemy of Islam supercharged by petrodollars… .. go read part of the article on "Wahhabism and the Occult Conspiracy" below:

" The Wahhabis insinuate themselves as legitimate members of the Muslim community, but Wahhabism was created by the British, in the eighteenth century, to undermine Islam. It has since been promoted by the state of Saudi Arabia, which was originally established by the British to achieve Western control of the world's primary oil resource. (author, "Globalists Created Wahhabi Terrorism")

In modern times, the Wahhabis have aligned themselves with a still more pernicious deviation from Islam, the Salafi. These name themselves accordingly because they claim to follow the earliest generations of the Muslims, known as the Salaf, and therefore, to be nearest to the purity of the original faith. Nothing could be further from the truth."

3) Shi'ism in Malaysia: In the Crosshairs of Regional and Imperial Agendas:

Written by Ali Jawad

Friday, 14 January 2011

In the shadow of the imperialist project against the heart of the Muslim world, the causes of ethnic and sectarian frictions, as well as the mechanisms for their resolution, have been dragged into a wider, more complex political dynamic. Over the past decade, we have witnessed sectarian tensions, in one form or another, encumbering nations and peoples spanning from the westernmost point of the Sahara to the southern tip of continental Eurasia. The extent to which the rise of this phenomenon is an outcome of the imperialist project is entirely overlooked in western analysis. Instead, focus is laid squarely on 'indigenous factors' and so-called 'historical motivations' that are buried somewhere deep in history's endless bosom.

...

http://www.aimislam .com/news/ analysis/ 1810-shiism- in-malaysia- in-the-crosshair s-of-regional- and-imperial- agendas.html

...

For seekers of justice, the overriding responsibility at the present time is to stand in solidarity with the oppressed in Malaysia and elsewhere around the world where the imperialist project continues to bring untold suffering to the lives of millions on a daily basis. Organisations such as the Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) have urged the general public to partake in a mass letter-writing campaign aimed at pressuring the Malaysian government to ensure the safety and welfare of all its citizens. [6] As a final word of caution: it is absolutely crucial that religious leaders and the Muslim masses in general, do not resort to a 'sectarian discourse' in reaction to such instances of oppression, because that is the precise end sought by imperial powers and their regional proxies.

Prayer for Solving Difficulties

Imam al-Sadiq (AS) is reported to have said: "When you face a difficulty, you may offer a two-unit (rakaats) prayer at mid-day. In the first Rakaat, you may recite Surah al-Fatihah, Surah al-Tawhid, and the first three verses of Surah al-Fath (No. 48):
إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحاً مُبِيناً.
inna fatahna laka fathan mubinan
Surely, We have given to you a clear victor,
لِيَغْفِرَ لَكَ ٱللَّهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَاخَّرَ
liyaghfira laka allahu ma taqaddama min dhanbika wa ma ta'akhkhara
that Allah may forgive your community their past faults and those to follow
وَيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُ عَلَيْكَ
wa yutimma ni`matahu `alayka
and complete His favor to you
وَيَهْدِيَكَ صِرَاطاً مُسْتَقِيماً.
wa yahdiyaka siratan mustaqiman
and keep you on a right way,
وَيَنْصُرَكَ ٱللَّهُ نَصْراً عَزِيزاً.
wa yansuraka allahu nasran `azizan
and that Allah might help you with a mighty help.

In the second unit, you may recite Surah al-Fatihah, Surah al-Tawhid, and Surah al-Inshirah (al-Sharh No. 94).

This prayer has been personally experienced.
May He accept your prayer and remove the difficulty (aameen).

1. Set a major goal, but follow a path. The path has mini goals that go in many directions.

When you learn to succeed at mini goals, you will be motivated to challenge grand goals.

2. Finish what you start. A half finished project is of no use to anyone. Quitting is a habit. Develop the habit of finishing self-motivated projects.

3. Socialize with others of similar interest. Mutual support is motivating. We will develop the attitudes of our five best friends. If they are losers, we will be a loser. If they are winners, we will be a winner. To be a cowboy we must associate with cowboys.

4. Learn how to learn. Dependency on others for knowledge supports the habit of procrastination. Man has the ability to learn without instructors. In fact, when we learn the art of self-education we will find, if not create, opportunity to find success beyond our wildest dreams.

5. Harmonize natural talent with interest that motivates. Natural talent creates motivation, motivation creates persistence and persistence gets the job done.

6. Increase knowledge of subjects that inspires. The more we know about a subject, the more we want to learn about it. A self-propelled upward spiral develops.

7. Take risk. Failure and bouncing back are elements of motivation. Failure is a learning tool. No one has ever succeeded at anything worthwhile without a string of failures.

Do you want beautiful healthy looking skin? Skin care is healthy. Whatever is happening on your face is an indication of what’s happening on the inside. Stress, diet, and lifestyle play large factors in the condition of your skin, but using the right products correctly will help create a healthier skin. Some people may use bar soap and hot water and that’s it. But, keep in mind there are always better choices for your skin.

Skin care is all about maintaining hydration and getting whatever oils you naturally produce free flowing and not clogged. Oil is good for your skin! There is no use in ‘drying it up.’ When you dry up oil from your skin, you dry up the water too. Your skin will produce more oil and it won’t be able to get out because of cellular build up of dehydrated sticky cells on the surface. Follow these instructions as best you can to create a healthy skin.

Want beautiful skin effortlessly? Here are some simple tips that will help you get gorgeous unblemished skin and turn back the clock for a younger looking you. Some of our beauty tricks include avoiding stress and smoking cessation.

Effective Steps to Get Great Looking Skin

Everyone wants a youthful looking, unblemished skin. These days, quite a number of people face a daily tragedy in terms of premature ageing of the skin, and the appearance of wrinkles before their time. Blame it on excessive exposure to the sun, or the pollutants in the air or just plain old laziness when it comes to skin care. But the fact that your skin doesn’t glow as it should, means you need to do something about it. Read on for some great ways for a youthful and unblemished skin:

Drink Lots of Water:

Drink lots of water. It is essential to drink up at least eight glasses of water every day to keep your digestion in good working order. Water also curbs your appetite and helps you shed excess pounds. But water intake is not just good for dieters it also flushes harmful toxins from your body, prevents breakouts and improves blood circulation in your skin. Adequate hydration reduces the appearance of puffy eyes and eye dark circles.

Moisturize Your Skin:

Keep your skin moisturized. Your skin is constantly exposed to strong winds, sunlight, environmental pollutants and toxic chemicals all of which are known to speed up the ageing process. Use a gentle exfoliate once every week and a daily moisturizer, for healthy hydrated skin. Dry skin allows the formation of wrinkles and fine lines.

Cleanse Skin Daily:

Follow a daily cleansing routine with gentle cleansers that suit your skin type. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients of the products you use. Cleansing helps to remove dirt, dust and grime from your skin pores and keeps your skin smooth and rejuvenated.

Don’t Forget to Exercise:

Get regular exercise for great looking skin. Exercising for even a few minutes everyday boosts the flow of blood in your skin cells and improves skin tone. Regular exercise also keeps your heart healthy, waist slim and face glowing.

Stay Relaxed:

Avoid stress. Try and eliminate the stress triggers from your life. High stress levels stimulate the production of excess sebum in your skin cells and contribute to blackheads and pimples. Whether it is your work or your relationships that is causing all that stress, it is essential to consult a therapist of counselor who will help you resolve your problems.

Get Started on a Healthy Diet:

Eat plenty of fresh fruits and green vegetables. These foods contain vitamins and antioxidants that work wonders for your skin. Vitamin C boosts the production of elastin and collagen in your skin cells, which keep wrinkles and fine lines at bay. Tomatoes contain lycopene that has been proven to prevent the effects of sun damage. Plums and berries too are rich in antioxidants that combat the harmful effects of free radicals.

Stop Smoking:

Don’t start smoking if you have never smoked before and stop if you do. Smoking is linked to various kinds of cancers along with a multitude of disorders that contribute to premature ageing. People who smoke regularly also tend to have dry sallow skin and plenty of wrinkles.

When You go to Bed:

Clean your face of all make up before going to bed. Cosmetics contain chemicals and oils that can seep into the pores of your skin and cause acne breakouts. With these simple tips you can easily get a good skin and a healthy glowing complexion.

Advice:

    * If you have severe acne, see a dermatologist or esthetician.
    * Exfoliating is great to open pores and cleanse your body of dead skin, however, never exfoliate too much. You may cause your skin to become raw, or otherwise very painful. Lip balm is also very good if you have dryness underneath your eyes.

At 42.5 kilometers, the Qingdao Haiwan Bridge, connecting the city of Qingdao in Eastern China's Shandong province with the suburban Huangdao District across the waters of the northern part of Jiaozhou Bay, is the longest bridge over water. The six-lane road bridge is almost 5 kilometers longer than the previous record holder - the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in the American state of Louisiana. When it opens to traffic later this year, the bridge is expected to carry over 30,000 cars a day and will cut the commute between the city of Qingdao and the sprawling suburb of Huangdao by between 20 and 30 minutes.

The bridge was built in just 4 years at a cost of US$ 8.6 billion. At least 10,000 workers toiled in two teams around the clock to build the bridge, which was constructed from opposite ends and connected in the middle in the last few days. The 450,000 ton structure of steel is supported by 5,200 columns and is strong enough to withstand a magnitude 8 earthquake, typhoons or the impact of a 300,000 ton vessel.

China is already home to seven of the world's 10 longest bridges, including the world's lengthiest, the 102 mile Danyang-Kunshan rail bridge, which runs over land and water near Shanghai.

And with Beijing pumping billions into boosting China's infrastructure, the Qingdao Haiwan Bridge will not be the world's longest sea bridge for very long. In December 2009, work started on a 31 mile bridge that will link Zhuhai in southern Guangdong Province, China's manufacturing heartland, with the financial centre of Hong Kong. The £6.5 billion project is expected to be completed in 2016.

There are certain events and occasions which demand you to look simple and casual. Bold colors, wild makeup and garish looks can spoil your beauty and persona, fetching you handful of execration. That was quite demeaning isn’t it? To avoid such embarrassments, you must wear casual makeup that will let you look not only beautiful but also elegant. Casual makeup is the right getup for job interviews, business meetings, official outings and even on a date. The next segment of the article shall present you with some casual makeup ideas.

Casual Makeup Tips:

   1. The basic tip that holds for any makeup is: to cleanse, tone and moisturize.
   2. Wash your face before you start putting on any makeup. Pat-dry your face with a towel so that no excess water remains.
   3. Now, since it is casual makeup, apply a light skin color powder foundation. This evens out the blemishes on the skin. Brush the powder in circular motions on your face. Don’t forget the neck too! Bronzes look great on slightly darker skin. Skip foundation if you’re using concealing powder. Too many layers will make the makeup look thicker.
   4. Color choices for lipstick must be light. Pinks, lavenders, light browns, nude and orange! These can be either a glossy or a Matt finish. Lip liners shouldn’t stand out too much from the lips, so it must be in the lip color applied. There is no harm in using some shimmer with those lips.
   5. Nude makeup is how casual makeup should be. So try and avoid colors such as reds, deep purples, dark browns or magenta. You might end up looking too dressed up for a casual occasion.
   6. You must use eyeshadow very carefully. Choose neutral colors such as peach, light pink, light brown or something that matches your skin tone. This highlights the eyes in a way that you won’t know! Apply in circular motions so that it gets evenly spread. To add a dash of color, you could shine up the crease of the eyes with a color of your choice but nothing too contrasting.
   7. Apply single coats of mascara to give that extra sleek finish to your eyes. Overdoing your lashes will make you look too plastic. But, it is still important for you to wear mascara as your eyes will pop immediately! Curling you lashing once isn’t such a bad idea either.
   8. For the cheeks, use some nice and cute pinks/browns. If you have a darker skin complexion, use brown and for a fairer one, use pink very scarcely as it would appear more obvious on your skin. Use large brushes or cotton pads to spread the color evenly so that the sun/ weather don’t affect the makeup by caking up.

How to do Casual Makeup:

Applying casual makeup is easy and doesn’t consume much time. Avoid makeup blunders by applying the natural colors smoothly over your face and give a final touch by highlighting your lips and eyes. The steps are as follows:

   1. The first step defines the act of cleaning your face. Wash your face with gentle face wash or moisturizing cleansing lotion.

If you have blackheads, use a mild defoliant to scrub your face. Wipe your face with non-alcoholic toner or rose water, to wipe away dirt and grime from the pores. Pat dry your face with the help of a towel and then proceed with the light makeup.
   2. Moisturize your face with a mild lotion, if your skin feels very dry. Dab some concealer over your finger tips and blend it over your face. This will cover blemishes, pimples and scars. The concealer must complement your complexion for perfect casual makeup looks.
   3. Apply the foundation with a large brush or cotton pads all over your face and neck, in circular motion. Make sure the light colored foundation blends perfectly with your skin and doesn’t give it a heavy and dull look. Now blush on with pale shades of pink or brown. If you want a natural tanned look, apply a very light shade of bronze.
   4. The most important aspect of a makeup is highlighting your eyes with natural colors. Outline your eyes, extending till the rim, with a good quality eyeliner. The mascara must be of same shade as the liner. With the help of a smooth brush, apply the eyeshadow smoothly. Do not dab heavily or spread all over your eyes and brows, unevenly.
   5. The last step is adding color to your lips. You lips must look natural. Outline them with lip liner of neutral shades and then apply the base color. Opt for matte shades of neutral color or render natural juicy look with neutral gloss.

Using some of these tips for a perfect day out or a somber occasion will make your natural beauty show and you will glow amongst the crowd. Just remember to complement your makeup with the dress you are sporting. Bright colored clothes go best with nude makeup. Also, never leave the house without looking at the mirror for that last complete look before you face the world. And don’t forget to tell yourself how gorgeous you are!

How To Start Running For Weight Loss

In my experience, running for weight loss has been the most effective exercise in keeping the extra pounds at bay. I’ve a number of different exercises including riding a bike, roller balding, and elipitcising but none of them were as effective as running.

If you are interested in running for weight loss, be sure to start of slow. Trying to run to too fast in the beginning can hurt you rather than help. I remember when I first starting running, I tried to basically sprint for my entire workout. This caused me to get sick about half way through. My muscles were also terribly sore after the workout. After that, I realized that taking it slow was the better approach.

One of the most effective ways to shed pounds is to lose weight by running. Running is also a very efficient ways to lose weight and keep it off. One of the biggest challenges for those trying to lose weight and get in shape is adopting a successful long-term plan.

Most people that a start running program, stay running because they enjoy it. We all want to get in better shape, but sometimes maintaining that shape is the real challenge. To understand how we lose weight by running, we need to first understand the science of weight gain and weight loss:

Running For Weight Loss:

1. The first step would be to prepare yourself for the fact that you will undertake a running program to lose weight.

2. Set realistic goals for yourself. You just cannot lose weight immediately and instantly. Know for sure that the process is a long one and it will take time to reflect the results.

3. Consider a complete program of exercise, diet and lifestyle changes. You ideal reason for running is to burn up more calories than what you consume. Running will definitely help you do so, but you also need to maintain a specific diet plan.

4. Taking into consideration that you are just a beginner, do not force yourself into a strict diet. To follow the new running regime you would require the necessary energy and the nutrients to run. Slowly, make changes in your diet plan.

5. Once you have made minor changes in your diet plan, slowly increase the distance. Do not set time limit for your running. The main goal at this stage is to keep going without injuring or hurting yourself.

6. This might come to you as a surprise but running also has a proper technique. If you are not running in the right way, you would end up hurting yourself. A change in the early stage would help prevent unnecessary injuries.

7. Do not worry if your weight goes up initially. This may be because you would be building lean muscle, which is denser when compared to fat. However, after the initial rise, you would realize that you have lost weight.

8. Instead of focusing on the running distance, focus on the running technique. You would definitely cover more distance with the right technique, thereby losing more weight. Remember, the more you run, the more you would end up burning fat.

9. Once you have become comfortable running and feel no ache or pain, start increasing the speed of running. This would help you burn your fat quickly.

10. Last but not the least, enjoy running. The more you run with pleasure, the easier it will be to lose weight. Remember, if it is no fun, it cannot be effective as well.

Eye Treatment With Yoga Exercise

Modern day life is full of stress, and the majority of us are affected. We have to cope with long hours of traveling and traffic jams; we are exhausted by the time we reach the office / home. A lot of us are into jobs, which involve constant sitting in front of a desk/ computer for long hours, resulting in back pain, headaches, eye, and neck strain, as well as a host of other related conditions.

We don’t find time to relax and rejuvenate. Just taking a few minutes, at the convenience of your office place, without disturbing your work, you can do stretches at your desk, which can relieve stress, increase productivity, and most importantly, make you feel better. The following are a few stretching exercises:

Shoulder Rotation:

Keep both hands on the respective shoulders – right hand on the right shoulder and the left hand on the left shoulder. By keeping your hands on your shoulders, rotate the arms and shoulders in a large circle. Try to touch the elbows in front of the chest.

Do this, clockwise, for eight to ten times, and then anti- clockwise, for eight to ten times. Deeply inhale when the elbows move forward, and exhale when the elbows move backwards.

Catching The Fingers Like A Hook:

Bring both hands up to the level of the chest and catch them like a hook – as in the case of two friends meeting and shaking hands. Take a deep breath, and pull the hands in the opposite direction. Release the breath, while lowering the hands. Repeat this exercise eight to ten times.

Repeat the same exercise behind the head, also. Take a deep breath, and pull the hands in the opposite direction. Make sure your hands are not touching the head from behind. For relaxing or exhaling, bring the hands back over the head, in the front, every time. Repeat this exercise eight to ten times.

Releasing the Pain Around the Neck:

Lock the fingers, on both hands, in such a way that the fingers remain on back side of the palms. Keep both palms on the lower part of the skull (the part from where the cervical vertebrae start, and the skull ends). Both elbows should remain parallel to the ground.

Now, exhale, and bring both elbows nearer to each other, in front of the face, by pressing your hands towards the head, and head towards the hands.

Inhale deeply, and move the elbows away from each other, and parallel to the ground, as well as in line with the shoulders.

Exhale, each time, when the elbows move forward, and inhale, when they move away from each other, and on the back side. Repeat this exercise eight to ten times.

Pressing the Fingers:

Close the fists, by keeping the thumbs inside the fingers, and press on the thumbs as hard as you can. Then, open the fists. After that, close the fists, by keeping the thumbs outside the fingers, and then open it.

Inhale at the time of closing the fist. Exhale at the time of opening the fist. Do this process eight to ten times, by keeping the hands away from the chest.

Cow Face:

Take your right arm, down over the right shoulder, behind the head, and bend it at the elbow, on the back and lower side.

Then, take the left hand on the low back side, and then bend the elbow from below with the hand upside. Make the hooks of the fingers, and pull the hands in the opposite direction. The upper elbow should remain exactly on the back side of the head, so that it gives complete exercise to the cervical spine. Inhale deeply when you pull the hands. Relax the hands when you exhale.

Then, do the same exercise, by bringing the left hand from above, and the right hand from below.

Those who can’t grasp the fingers can hold a thick handkerchief by the hand, from above, and lower end of the handkerchief from the hang below. Pull it. Try to bring the fingers of both the hands nearer to each other, with the help of the handkerchief.

Repeat it for 3-4 times each side. Try to remain in the position to the count of three breaths.

Neck Exercise:

Sit, with keeping the back straight. Close the fist of the right hand with the thumb inside. Keep the part of the bent fingers, where you wear a ring, under the chin. Now, press the chin upwards by the fist. The head will move upwards. Then, make a hook of the index finger. Keep it on the chin, and press it downwards towards the chest. Inhale when you press upwards, and exhale when you press downwards. Do it eight to ten times.

Very slowly rotate the head first on the right side, and then on the left side. Inhale deeply, when the neck moves on the right side, and comes in line of the right shoulder; exhale when it returns to the front side position. Inhale, when it moves on the left side, and exhale when it returns to the front side gradually. Repeat this exercise eight to ten times in total that is four to five times on each side. Now, relax the neck.

Thereafter, bring the right ear up to the right shoulder, and then the left ear to the left shoulder. Repeat this exercise eight to ten times in total that is four to five times each side. Now, relax the neck.

Now, rotate the head, and neck, from the right side. In this, tilt the head first on the right side, then on the back side, then on the left side. and in front last. This would complete one rotation. Repeat four to five times, very gently, and without any stress. Do it in the reverse direction, also, that is starting it from the left side. Repeat four to five times, without hurrying.

Stretching the Whole Body:

Stand straight, with feet together or apart slightly. Raise your arms over the head. Interlock your fingers, and keep your palms up towards the sky. While inhaling, stretch the whole body on the toes. Maintain the balance. While exhaling, come back. Do 3-5 times.

Physical well being is inseparable from emotional well being. Happy people are healthy people. The wisdom traditions of the world tell us that happiness does not depend on what you have, but on who you are. we begin the New Year, it may be worthwhile to reflect on what really creates happiness in us. The following ten keys may give us some insight.
1. Listen to your body's wisdom, which expresses itself through signals of comfort and discomfort. When choosing a certain behavior, ask your body, How do you feel about this? If your body sends a signal of physical or emotional distress, watch out. If your body sends a signal of comfort and eagerness, proceed.

2. Live in the present, for it is the only moment you have. Keep your attention on what is here and now; look for the fullness in every moment. Accept what comes to you totally and completely so that you can appreciate it, learn from it, and then let it go. The present is as it should be. It reflects infinite laws of Nature that have brought you this exact thought, this exact physical response. This moment is as it is because the universe is as it is. Don't struggle against the infinite scheme of things; instead, be at one with it.

3. Take time to be silent, to meditate, to quiet the internal dialogue. In moments of silence, realize that you are recontacting your source of pure awareness. Pay attention to your inner life so that you can be guided by intuition rather than externally imposed interpretations of what is or isn't good for you.

4. Relinquish your need for external approval. You alone are the judge of your worth, and your goal is to discover infinite worth in yourself, no matter what anyone else thinks. There is great freedom in this realization.

5. When you find yourself reacting with anger or opposition to any
person or circumstance, realize that you are only struggling with
yourself. Putting up resistance is the response of defenses created by old hurts. When you relinquish this anger, you will be healing yourself and cooperating with the flow of the universe.

6. Know that the world 'out there' reflects your reality 'in here.' The people you react to most strongly, whether with love or hate, are projections of your inner world. What you most hate is what you most deny in yourself. What you most love is what you most wish for in yourself. Use the mirror of relationships to guide your evolution. The goal is total self-knowledge. When you achieve that, what you most want will automatically be there, and what you most dislike will disappear.

7. Shed the burden of judgment and you will feel much lighter. Judgment imposes right and wrong on situations that just are. Everything can be understood and forgiven, but when you judge, you cut off understanding and shut down the process of learning to love. In judging others, you reflect your lack of self-acceptance. Remember that every person you forgive adds to your self-love.

8. Don't contaminate your body with toxins, either through food, drink, or toxic emotions. Your body is more than a life-support system. It is the vehicle that will carry you on the journey of your evolution. The health of every cell directly contributes to your state of well being, because every cell is a point of awareness within the field of awareness that is you.

9. Replace fear-motivated behavior with love-motivated behavior. Fear is the product of memory, which dwells in the past. Remembering what hurt us before, we direct our energies toward making certain that an old hurt will not repeat itself. But trying to impose the past on the present will never wipe out the threat of being hurt. That happens only when you find the security of your own being, which is love. Motivated by the
truth inside you, you can face any threat because your inner strength is invulnerable to fear.

10. Understand that the physical world is just a mirror of a deeper intelligence. Intelligence is the invisible organizer of all matter and energy, and since a portion of this intelligence resides in you, you share in the organizing power of the cosmos. Because you are inseparably linked to everything, you cannot afford to foul the planet's  air and water. But at a deeper level, you cannot afford to live with a toxic mind, because every thought makes an impression on the whole field of intelligence. Living in balance and purity is the highest good for you and the Earth.

How do we budget our money?

"Did you see that new house Mr. Naqvi bought? It's huge!"
"Yeah and did you see that new Porsche he got for his son? It's awesome!"
Unfortunately, for those who come to the mosque or center for the right reasons, this a lot of the banter that we hear at our Islamic centers. Despite the fact that this admiration of material wealth can take our mind away from the remembrance of Allah, it can also lead to a dangerous condition known as "Keeping up with the Joneses". Or, in this case: "Keeping up with the Naqvis".
It is no secret that the economy has been in trouble lately. From the bursting of the housing bubble to the unnecessary and overly expensive wars being waged in the Middle East, the underlying reason that the economy is in shambles and the unemployment rate is high is because of overspending – either individually on our part, or by the government. The average American credit card debt as of January 2010 is about $8,000 – and this doesn't even include debt incurred from mortgages and car loans.
This is affecting the Muslim community as well. Most people know of someone in their center who has been a victim of foreclosure, laid off from their job, or generally having trouble finding a job. The aforementioned Mr. Naqvi could have been riding high with the new mansion one year, but suffered with a foreclosure the next. These economic conditions have affected everyone in some way, and things are not going to change unless we take actionable steps to change it.
What is the best and most simple step we can take to get things back on track? The answer is simple: spend less than you earn. This is a very simple idea to understand but a tough one to implement. It means getting off of the treadmill of paying for lots of things, and getting a paycheck so we can keep paying for more things. It means taking a value-based approach to the things we buy and the experiences we enjoy. In the case of people who hold Islam as a high priority in life, this means exhibiting Islamic Conscious Spending.
Islamic Conscious Spending is nothing more than cutting out those superfluous things in life that can take us away from the remembrance of Allah, and to use our money and to focus ourselves on the goals of bettering ourselves and the communities around us. This doesn't necessarily mean you have to sell your house and live among the animals in the forest. It means prioritizing the things in your life. Many people would love to go forHajj and Ziyarat to the holy places, but are stuck working in order to pay for the too-big house and the too-expensive cars. Instead of taking out that huge mortgage, we should try our best to live frugally and gradually save up that money needed to take the long awaited journey to Mecca. Imam Ali (peace be upon him) has said, "To consume more than needed is extravagance." (Mustadrak al –Wasa'il) It is this middle road that we should follow in all aspects of life, especially in spending our money.
Another advantage of spending less than you earn is that it frees up money for us to spend on worthy causes, such as helping the oppressed and hungry around the world. Many people literally have no money left over at the end of the month to spend for charity since they are just making ends meet by paying for all of their current expenses. Let us make sure to set aside some funds to help those worthy causes because according to the Qur'an, this is the best investment we can ever make: "The parable of those who spend their property in the way of Allah is as the parable of a grain growing seven ears (with) a hundred grains in every ear; and Allah multiplies for whom He pleases; and Allah is Ample-giving, Knowing." (2:261)
If there is anything we can learn from the overspending of the majority of Americans and of our government, it is that spending more than you earn can have dire consequences. Spending less than you earn is easier said than done, but it is the most effective and sustainable way to economic recovery in our households. Islamic Conscious Spending will lessen our awe and admiration for the material aspects of the world while increasing our remembrance of Allah. "Our Lord! grant us good in this world and good in the hereafter, and save us from the chastisement of the fire." (2:201)

Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show...
let me do it now...for I shall not pass this way again." (Stephen Grellet)

DISCOVERING ISLAM

Arba'een

"In the first Arba'een gathering in the year 62 AH, Jabir ibn Abdullah, a companion of the Prohet, was one of the people who performed a pilgrimage to the burial site of Husayn. Due to his infirmity and probable blindness, he was accompanied by Atiyya bin Saad. His visit coincided with that of the surviving female members of the Prophet's family and Husayn's son and heir Imam Zain-ul-Abideen, who had all been held captive in Damascus by Yazid I, the Umayyad Caliph. Imam Zain-ul-Abideen had been too ill to participate in the Battle of Karbala. He later devoted his life to Azadari and spreading the message of Imam Hussain's supreme sacrifice."

for everyone
Bibi Sakina was one of the daughters of Imaam Hussain. She was a vivacious child, full of love and happiness. Everyone loved Sakina. She was also a very religious girl. She enjoyed reading the Holy Quran and never missed her prayers. From the age of two she took great care to make sure that her head and face were properly covered when in public.
Sakina was Imam Hussain"s most beloved child. Our Imam was often heard to say, "A house without Sakina would not be worth living in!" She always had a sweet and cheerful smile and a very friendly nature. Other children sought her company as much as the grown ups did. She was very generous and always shared whatever she had with others.

There was a special bond between Hazrat Abbas and Sakina. He loved her more than he did his own children. If Sakina requested for anything, Abbas would not rest until he satisfied her request. There was nothing that Abbas would not do to make Sakina happy.

During the journey from Madina to Mecca and then Mecca to Kerbala, Abbas was often seen riding up to the mehmil in which Sakina sat to make sure that she had everything she wanted. Sakina loved her uncle just as much. While in Madina she would, several times a day, visit the house in which Hazrat Abbas lived with his family and his mother, Ummul Baneen.
Like any other four-five year old when Sakina went to bed at night she wanted to spend some time with her father. Imam Hussain would tell her stories of the prophets and of the battles fought by her grand-father Ali. She would rest her head on her father"s chest and Hussain would not move from her until she fell asleep. When from the second of Muharram the armies of Yezid began to gather at Kerbala, Hussain said to his sister Zainab, "The time has come for you to get Sakina used to going to sleep without my being there!" Sakina would follow her father at night and Hussain had to gently take her to Zainab or Rubaab.

At Kerbala when from the seventh Muharram water became scarce Sakina shared whatever little water she had with other children. When soon there was no water at all, the thirsty children would look at Sakina hopefully, and because she could not help them she would have tears in her eyes. Sakina"s lips were parched with thirst.

On the Ashura day, she gave her Mashk to Hazrat Abbas. He went to get water for her. The children gathered round Sakina with their little cups, knowing that as soon as Hazrat Abbas brought any water, Sakina would first make sure that they had some before taking any herself. When Sakina saw Imaam Hussain bringing the blood drenched "alam she knew that her uncle Abbas had been killed. From that day on Sakina never complained of thirst.
Then came the time when the earth shook and Sakina became an orphan! But even then she always thought of the others first. She would console her mother on the death of Ali Asghar and when she saw any other lady or child weeping Sakina would put her little arms around her.

Yes Sakina never again asked anyone for water. Bibi Zainab would persuade her to take a few sips, but she herself would never ask for water or complain of thirst!!!!

From the time when Imaam Hussain fell in the battle field, Sakina forgot to smile! Kufa saw her as a somber little girl lost in thought. Quite often she would sit up at night. When asked if she wanted anything, she would say, "I just heard a baby cry? Is it Asghar? He must be calling out for me!"
Knowing that her weeping upset her mother, Sakina would cry silently and quickly wipe away her tears! In the prison in Shaam she would stare at the flock of birds flying to their nests at sunset and innocently ask Bibi Zainab, "Will Sakina be going home like those birds flying to their homes?"

Then one dreadful night Sakina went to bed on the cold floor of the prison. For a long time she stared into the darkness! The time for the morning prayers came. Sakina was still lying with her eyes wide open. Her mother called out: "Wake up, Sakina! Wake up, it is time for prayers, my child!" There was only the painful silence! Our fourth Imaam walked up to where Sakina lay. He put his hand on her forehead. It was cold! He put his hand near the mouth and the nose. Sakina had stopped breathing. In between sobs Imaam Zain ul "Abideen said:
"INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAYHI RAAJI"OON!"

How was Sakina buried? Zainab held the still child as Imaam Zain ul "Abideen dug a grave in the cell. As the grave was being filled up after the burial the mother let out a scream! How could anyone console Bibi Rubaab? What could they say? They huddled around her, and the prison walls began to shake with the cry: "YA SAKINA, YA MAZLOOMAH!!" Bibi Rubaab put her cheek on Sakina"s grave and cried out:
"Speak to me, Sakina! Only a word, my child! Speak to me!!"
According to different historical accounts, between the 3rd and 13th Safar is the day when we remember the martyrdom anniversary of Bibi Sakina bint-al-Hussain (sa) - the 4-year old beloved daughter of Imam Hussain who died in the prison of Damascus after the family of the Prophet Mohammad were made prisoners after the events of Karbala and detained in the prison of Damascus.

On the day of Ashura - the 10th of Muharram, she gave her mashk to Hazrat Abbas to get some water for her and the children. When Hazrat Abbas went to fetch water, the children gathered round Bibi Sakina with their little cups, knowing that as soon as Hazrat Abbas brought any water, Bibi Sakina would first make sure that they had some before taking any herself. When Bibi Sakina saw Imam Hussain bringing the blood drenched 'alam she knew that her uncle Abbas had been martyred.

Knowing that her weeping upset her mother, Bibi Sakina (sa) would cry silently and quickly wipe away her tears! In the prison in Damascus she would stare at the flock of birds flying to their nests at sunset and innocently ask Bibi Zainab (sa), "Will we ever be going home like those birds flying to their homes?"

Her martyrdom

One night Bibi Sakina (sa) was asleep and she suddenly woke up crying and started to look for her father everywhere. All the ladies tried to console her so she would stop crying but she didn't get any peace and continued crying, "O my dear aunt where is my father a few minutes ago I was with my father and he kissed me and said to me that my dear Sakina you will soon be with me. But where is my father now?"

When Bibi Sakina told her dream, all the ladies started to cry and now this noise of crying was heard by Yazid (la) at his court. Yazid (la) sent a servant to ask why they were crying. The servant was informed that Bibi Sakina (sa) missed her father and that is why she was crying. They informed Yazid of the situation, and Yazid, for his sadistic pleasure, sent the severed head of Imam Hussain to the prison and when Bibi Sakina received the head of her father she started to cry even more and held it very tight and asked her father, who cut off my father's head, who martyred my father, why are we held as captives?

With these words of sorrow suddenly Bibi Sakina (sa) was quiet and there was a silence in the cell. Everyone thought that Sakina had finally gone to sleep again but this was not a temporary sleep, Sakina had now gone into a permanent sleep. Bibi Zainab called Zain-ul Abideen to check the status of Sakina as they thought she had fallen unconscious. When the Imam went over to check on his sister, he noticed she had stopped breathing.

Burial

Bibi Sakina (sa) was buried in the same dungeon. Bibi Zainab held the still child as Imam Zain-ul Abideen dug a grave for her sister in the dungeon. Her clothes were burnt in Kerbala, and due to injuries, had intermingled with her flesh. Therefore, she was buried in the same burnt, ripped clothes right there in he Dungeon of Syria .

When the time came and they were released from the prison, Bibi Rubab (mother of Bibi Sakina) came to the grave of her beloved daughter (sa), put her cheek on Bibi Sakina (A.S)'s grave and cried out, "Speak to me Sakina. Only a word, my child, speak to me".

Bibi Sakina's body was removed from its original burial place, Dungeon of Syria, some centuries later, when a pious man of Damascus was informed in his dream that water was pouring into the grave of this young Hashmite princess (sa). Upon confirmation that ground water was actually entering the grave, Bibi Sakina's body was buried in a new shrine near Yazeed's (La) palace, where she rests today. Her body was in the condition that if she had been buried the same day.

It was her father Imam Hussain who was brutally killed in Kerbala. It was her baby brother Ali Asghar who had an arrow shot through his neck. It was her beloved uncle Abbas that had both his arms cut off. It was she who spent her last days in a dungeon. The little princess of Imam Hussain . The only person to never make it out of that desolate dungeon. She was Bibi Sakina (sa), the young Hashemite princess.

On this occasion of mourning in the household of the Prophet Muhammad , I extend my condolences to the Prophet Muhammad and his Ahlul Bayt and our 12th Imam (ajtf). May the curse of Allah (swt) be on those who inflicted pain upon the Prophet and his holy family .

for everyone
Oh Shia’s before you have a water to drink,

Stop for a second and just ponder and think,

For Hussein and the family were prevented from having a sip,

So say Bismillah and they say

Ya Hussein, before the drop passes your lip.
