Valour Of Imam Zainul Abideen (a.s) | for everyone |
After the martyrdom of Imam Husain (a.s), no ruler demanded oath of allegiance from any of the Holy Imams. Also none of the Imams was having any connection with apparent rulership. Therefore there was no occasion for them to perform the Jihad of the sword.
Haider Husain the poet of Lucknow has worded this beautifully in one of his panegyrics: Zainul Abideen changed the meaning of Jihad. The daring is the same but battlefields have changed.
From Imam Zainul Abideen (a.s) to Imam Hasan Askari (a.s) there were numerous occasions when need arose to exhibit valour of moral behavior. The Holy Imams (a.s) were never awed by the ruling powers to conceal truth. They never refrained from Amr bil Maroof (Enjoining good) and Nahy Anil Munkar (Forbidding evil).
If the calamities that befell Imam Zainul Abideen (a.s) had descended on mountains they would have melted away like wax. If they had fallen on days, they would have changed into nights. However he bore everything with the strength of faith, and did not allow his ancestral valour to leave him for a moment.
Ibne Ziyad and Yazid (May Allah 's curse be always on them and their companions) in their respective courts, tried their utmost to overawe the Ahl ul-Bayt through a shameless display of their power and tyranny, but Imam Zainul Abideen (a.s) rebutted their efforts through his daring and irrefutable replies, such that they were humiliated beyond description.

The Imam also ascended the pulpit in the Damascus mosque and in the presence of Yazid, praised the Ahl ul-Bayt and denounced Bani Umayyah. Anyone else would have found it difficult to even utter a word in such circumstances.
Hajrat Ali's (a.s.) Humility | for everyone |
Returning one day with some dates from the bazar he received many offers from people anxious to carry them for him. Ali refused them all, saying, "Whosoever is responsible for looking after his children, has the bigger responsibility of carrying the burden himself."
Ali was often seen walking barefooted and on one occasion when he happened to be riding a horse he was distressed to find people following him on foot. Asking them what they wanted, he was told that they felt elated by walking in his retinue. To this Ali replied, "Go back to your business. By walking behind a rider, you will breed feelings of inferiority in yourselves and infect me with arrogance."
On another occasion when Ali was discussing the essential qualities of a ruler in a sermon, a member of the congregation rose and praised All for his eloquence. Ali said that his subjects ought not to praise him, for he wanted no flattery, being all too conscious of his own unworthiness. Concluding his sermon he said, "To a person who has been influenced by the superb Majesty of God, everything else appears petty and frivolous. He looks upon all other things as shallow and trivial. The worst ruler is one who is given to pride and arrogance and hears flattering words from other. All praise is due to God. You should not praise me because I herewith declare before God and all of you that are here that I have many responsibilities which still lie undischarged. In the face of this how can any one applaud me and consider me praiseworthy? You should not accord me that treatment which is only befitting to tyrants. Neither become afraid of me nor ever hesitate to tell the truth. Do not show any consideration to me if you feel that I am wanting in justice, and never conceal the truth from me. I cannot trust any flatterer because he might mislead me and his tempting talk might beguile me into vainglory.

I pray to God to save me from an erroneous path. We men are all alike and there is no other Master than God."

CLOSING OF THE DOORS OPENINGINSIDE THE PROPHET'S MOSQUE. | for everyone |
Some companions of the Prophet also built their houses close to the Mosque with doors opening into the courtyards. Sometime afterwards, while they were leisurely sitting in the Mosque, a voice was heard
"Ye people l Close your doors opening into the Mosque." The people were struck with wonder to hear the voice, but they sat dumb without stirring to carry out the Command, till they heard again the injunction to close the doors on pain of Divine Wrath. Terrified at this warning, they all approached the Prophet, who was in his apartment. Ali also came out of his apartment which was adjacent to the Prophet's rooms since the day of Fatima's marriage with him. He stood by the Prophet when he ordered that all the doors opening into the Mosque, excepting that of Ali and his own, should be closed. People began to murmur. The Prophet was angry at their attitude and addressed them thus : "Verily, God ordered His apostle Moses to build a holy Mosque, and he allowed Moses, Aaron and the two sons of Aaron, viz. Shabbar and Shabbir, to live therein. I was likewise ordered to construct a holy mosque wherein myself and my brother Ali and his two sons, Hasan and Husain are allowed to live. Verily, I do only what I am ordered to do. I never undertake to act on my own wish. Certainly I have not ordered of my own accord to close your doors or to let Ali's door open. It is God who granted Ali an abode in the Holy Mosque." Consequently, the companions, whose houses skirted the quadrangle of the Mosque, closed their doors.
It is recorded on the authority of Sa'd, that the Apostle of God said to Ali : "It is not lawful for any to be in the Mosque while under the obligation of performing a thorough ablution except for me and for thee," Major Jarret's translation of Suyuti's His. p. 175.
Omar b. AI-Khattab said : "Verily. Ali hath been endowed with three qualities, of which had I but one, it would be more precious to me than were I given high bred camels." It was asked of him what they were? He replied : "His marriage with fatima, the daughter of the Prophet; his remaining in the Mosque while that is permitted to him which is not lawful for me; and carrying the Standard on the day of Khaibar." Major Jarret's translation of Suyuti's His. p. 175. Tirmizi Misltkath 463, Nasai page 9, Riazunnazarah Vol. II page 192, Ibn-e-Maghazili and Kanzul-Ummal page 29.

NOW THE WAR ON PRESS TV IN IRAN BY BRITAIN | for everyone |
A top official at the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting organization has slammed blocking of Press TV bank accounts in Britain as illegal.
"Banks cannot block the accounts of the media which operate within the regulations of the host country without a reason," head of the IRIB World Service Mohammad Sarafraz told the Islamic Republic of Iran News Agency (IRNA).
Sarafraz who also heads Press TV news channel said Press TV Ltd. in London is a company, which is registered according to Britain's law and operates within that framework.
Sarafraz said the London-based Press TV Ltd. "is not directly affiliated with" Press TV news channel based in the Iranian capital of Tehran.
The limited company is a British entity that provides service as an independent company to the Press TV news channel.
"Western countries especially Britain advance their illegal aims through economic and banking levers and they have so far closed some of the Press TV's accounts in different banks," he further explained.
Sarafraz added British bank managers have never issued an official response as to why they have blocked the accounts only suggesting that they have been "under pressure by those in the positions of authority".
This is while many observers believe other parties including the Zionist lobby within the British mainstream media are also helping that pressure waging an allout tarring campaign on Press TV news channel in general and Press TV Ltd. in particular.
Such attempts to restrict Press TV is not limited to domestic presssure in Britain.
Press TV was internationally hailed for its coverage of the Israeli-waged war on Gaza during the December 2008 to Janaury 2009 period yet the British media regulator OfCom issued two rulings against the news outlet which claiming its two programs which focused on the Gaza War breached impartiality regulations.
British officials have also tried to block Press TV from broadcasting through pressuring satellite operators especially French companies.
The wave of pressure on Press TV in London comes as a surprise as the news channle has never faced a similar situation in Beirut, Washington, Kabul, Berlin, Baghdad and Arbil where it also operates.
Analysts say the pressure exerted on Press TV in Britain runs against the country's claim to freedom of speech and is politically motivated while some believe British authorities are even recruiting gangs to disrupt the oeration of PressTV limited services for the News channel.
Recently the team of Presstv reporter Hasan ghani were attacked by the members of an unidentified mob during London tuition fee protests during which the team's cameraman Adam Apostol was knocked to the ground and had his camera broken.
"The incident took place within the sight of police and probably police security system had recruited the attackers who had covered their face," Sarafraz said.
Meanwhile whistle blower website WikiLeaks has recently released documents from secret US Department of State cables which show Britain Foreign Office told the US embassy in London back in February that it is "exploring ways to limit the operations of… Press TV".
The disclosures, according to Sarafraz, seemed to be "connected" to the bank accounts closures by the British government.
Sarafraz also dismissed any link between the anti-Iranian sanctions and the closure of bank accounts.
"A few days ago the Guardian daily reported in case of new sanctions on Iran, Press TV operations in Britain will be stopped. Such matters are not related to each other and are only aimed at preventing Iran's media operations," Sarafraz said.
