GOD ADVISED MOSES ON FOUR ISSUES

The Commander of the Faithful Imam Ali (MGB) said:
“The Blessed the Sublime God told Moses (MGB): ‘O Moses! Follow my advice to you regarding four issues:
- First, try not to find faults with others as long as you do not know whether or not your own sins are forgiven;
- Second, do not worry about your share of daily bread as long as you know that my treasures are not finished.
- Third, do not place hope in other’s help as long as you know My Kingdom is lasting.
- Fourth, do not feel secure from the plans of Satan for as long as Satan exists.’”

Tehran opens unique Javadieh Bridge
Iran's unique cable-stayed Javadieh Bridge has been opened in Tehran.
Tehran's new cable-stayed Javadieh Bridge has been inaugurated during a ceremony attended by the mayor of the Iranian capital Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf.

The heavy steel structure, which is called the new symbol of Tehran because of its unique construction, was inaugurated during a ceremony on November 10, 2010.

"The Javadieh Bridge is a symbol of the creativity, experience and expertise of the Iranian people and a result of their cooperation, patience and persistence," Hamshahri quoted Qalibaf as saying during the inauguration ceremony.

"The project also shows the capabilities of our engineers who showed their independence in the year of 'redoubled effort and redoubled diligence' as named by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei]," he added.

Qalibaf had earlier announced that the unique design of the bridge had caught the attention of many international experts and three foreign engineers had asked for the help of Iranian experts to develop a similar project in their countries.

Director of Tehran Municipality's Engineering and Civil Work's Organization Dr. Maziar Hosseini also ensured people of the structure's quakeproof quality.

The unique design of the Javadieh Bridge has made it a distinctive structure in the world and maintains earthquake resisting standards, jamejamonline quoted him as saying.

The new Javadieh Bridge helps reduce traffic in four major highways and contributes to cutting air pollution and fuel consumption.

Because of its particular geometric specifications and asymmetrical main arch, engineers had to implement asymmetrical piers, and a single high tension cable to suspend the bridge from its middle section.

Another unique feature of the structure is the use of eight shock transmitters below the deck, which transfer the vibration load of the deck to the lateral columns.

In case of strong shocks such as earthquakes, the hydraulic transmitters become locked and the entire vibrating load will be transferred to the piers.

The bridge has twelve 19-, 37- and 61-strand high strength cables, which can withstand 250, 450 tons, and 800 tons respectively.

The inner strands of these cables are covered with special anti-corrosion plastic coating and all of them have special anti vandalism and polyethylene protective sleeves.

This is a powerful message in our modern society. We seemed to have lost our bearing & our sense of direction.
One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company.

He passed the first interview, the director did the last interview, made the last decision.

The director discovered from the CV that the youth's academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never had a year when he did not score.

The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?" the youth answere "none".

The director asked, " Was it your father who paid for your school fees?" The youth answered, "My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees.

The director asked, " Where did your mother work?" The youth answered, "My mother worked as clothes cleaner. The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.

The director asked, " Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?" The youth answered, "Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me.

The director said, "I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mother's hands, and then see me tomorrow morning.*

The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixe feelings, she showed her hands to the kid.

The youth cleaned his mother's hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mother's hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother shivered when they were cleaned with water.

This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mother's hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence and his future.

After finishing the cleaning of his mother hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother.

That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.

Next morning, the youth went to the director's office.

The Director noticed the tears in the youth's eyes, asked: " Can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday i your house?"

The youth answered, " I cleaned my mother's hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes'

The Director asked, " please tell me your feelings."

The youth said, Number 1, I know now what is appreciation. Without my mother, there would not the successful me today. Number 2, by working together and helping my mother, only I now realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done. Number 3, I have come to appreciate the importance and value of family relationship.

The director said, " This is what I am looking for to be my manager.
I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. You are hired.

Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employee worked diligently and as a team. The company's performance improve tremendously.
A child, who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted, would develop "entitlement mentality" and would always put himself first. He would be ignorant of his parent's efforts. When he starts work, he assumes that every person must listen to him, and when he becomes a manager, he would never know the sufferings of his employees and would always blame others. For this kind of people, who may be good academically, may be successful for a while, but eventually would not feel sense of achievement. He will grumble and be full of hatred and fight for more. If we are this kind of protective parents, are we really showing love or are we destroying the kid instead?*

You can let your kid live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch a big screen TV. But when you ar cutting grass, please let them experience it. After a meal, let them wash their plates and bowls together with their brothers and sisters. It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but it is because you want to love them in a right way. You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day their hair will grow gray, same as the mother of that young person. The most important thing is your kid learns how to appreciate the effort and experience the difficulty and learns the ability to work with others to get things done.

You would have forwarded many mails to many and many of them would have back mailed you too...but try and forwar this story to as many as possible...this may change somebody's fate...

The Martyrdom of Imam Baqir (as)
I.M.A.M. | Imam Mahdi Association of Marjaeya
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Salam Alikum Dear Believers,

The Imam Mahdi Association of Marjaeya would like to send its condolences on martyrdom of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as).

The Holy Imam Muhammad al-Baqir is the Fifth Apostolic Imam. His epithet was Abu Ja'far and he was popularly titled "al-Baqir". His mother was the daughter of Imam Hasan. Thus, he was the only Imam who was connected with Hadrat Fatimatu'z-Zahra', both from his paternal and maternal sides.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir was brought up in the holy lap of his grandfather Imam Husayn, for three years. For thirty-four years he was under the gracious patronage of his father, `Ali Zaynu'1-`Abidin.

The Holy Imam was present in Karbala' at the time of the gruesome tragedy of the wholesale massacre of his grandfather Imam Husayn and his companions. He also suffered with his father and the ladies of the House of the Prophet (Ahlu'l-bayt) the heartless captivity and imprisonment at the hands of the devilish forces at the command of Yazid ibn Mu'awiyah. After the tragedy of Karbala', the Imam passed his time peacefully in Medina praying to Allah and guiding the people to the right path.

The downfall of the Umayyads had begun since Yazid, the son of Mu'awiyah, had slaughtered Imam Husayn. Yazid himself had completely realized the evil consequences of his deeds even during the short period of his rule. His son Mu'awiyah, the second, refused to accept the caliphate saying I cannot favour such a throne which has been erected on the basis of oppression and tyranny.

The Holy Imam managed to collect the teachings and reforms of the Holy Prophet and his Ahlu'l-bayt in the form of books. His pupils compiled books on different branches of science and arts under his instructions and guidance.

In the excellence of his personal purity and godly traits, the Holy Imam Muhammad al-Baqir was a model of the Holy Prophet and his great grandfather, `Ali ibn Abi Talib. His admonitions created a spiritual sensation among the Muslims in general. He was not only hospitable even to his worst enemies but also used to continually exhort them to the right path. He urged people to earn their livelihood by their own hard work.

The Holy Imam gave much importance to convening majalis (meetings) in commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Husayn. Kumayl ibn Zayd al-Asadi, one of the most famous and highly talented poets of that time, used to recite the elegy of Imam Husayn in those majalis. Such type of majalis were also greatly encouraged by Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq and Imam `Ali ar-Rida, the Sixth and the Eighth Imams.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir continued his preaching peacefully till 114 AH. On the 7th Dhi'l-hajjah when he was fifty-seven years old, Hisham ibn `Abdil-Malik ibn Marwan, the then ruler, got him martyred through poison. The funeral prayers for this Holy lmam were conducted by his son Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq, the Six Imam, and his body was laid to rest in Jannatu 'l-Baqi' in Medina.

4. He, peace be on him, said: "Assume the truth. Leave that which does not concern you. Avoid your enemy. Be careful of your friends except the trusty one who fears Allah. Do not make friends with the sinner. Do not inform him of your secrets. Ask the advice of those who fear Allah.

10. He, peace be on him, said: "He who disobeys Allah does not recognize Him." Then the Imam composed:

Do you disobey the Lord and show your love (for Him)?

By your life, this is an innovation among deeds.

If your love was truthful, you would obey him.

Indeed the lover obeys him whom he loves.

11. He, peace be on him, said: "The need with the one who has recently gotten property is like the dirham in the mouth of the snake. You need him, and you are in danger.

12. He, peace be on him, said: "Know the love in the heart of your brother through what he has in your heart.

13. He, peace be on him, said: "Faith is love and hatred."

14. He, peace be on him, said: "Four (acts) are among the treasures of kindness: Concealing the need, concealing the alms, concealing the pain, and concealing, the misfortune.

16. He, peace be on him, said: "Whoever gets a brother in Allah in addition to faith in Allah and faithfulness to his brotherhood seeking Allah's pleasure gets a ray from Allah's light, safety from the punishment of Allah, a pilgrimage (to Mecca) through which he will be successful on the Day of Judgment, everlasting honor, and increasing reputation.

That is because the believer is neither mawsool nor mafsool from Allah, the Great and Almighty." He was asked: "What is the meaning of mawsool and mafsool?" He, peace be on him, replied: "Mawsool meaning the believer is not connected to (Allah). Mafsool meaning the believer is not separated from (Allah).

17. He, peace be on him, said: "It is sufficient cheat for the person is that he sees from the people the vague affair of his own soul. Or he finds faults with other than him through what he cannot leave. Or he hurts his friend through that which does not concern him.

18. He, peace be on him, said: "Humbleness is that you should be satisfied with the humble sitting-place, that you should greet whomever you meet, and that you should leave the dispute even if you are right."

19. He, peace be on him, said: "The believer is the brother of the believer. So, he should not abuse him nor should he deprive him (of his rights) nor should he doubt him."

20. He, peace be on him, said: "He to whom clumsiness is apportioned, faith is veiled from him.

21. He, peace be on him, said: "Indeed Allah has punishments in the hearts, the bodies, the daily-bread, and the worship. However, the cruelty of the heart is the most intense punishment.

22. He, peace be on him, said: "On the Judgment Day, a caller will call: 'Where are al-Sabirun (the patient)?' So, a group of people will rise. Then a caller will call : 'Where are al-Mutasabbirun?' Thus, a group of people will rise." He was asked: "Who are al-Sabirun and al-Mutasabbirun?" He, peace be on him, replied: "Al-Sa`birun are those who are patient with performing the religious duties. 25. He, peace be on him, said: "Modesty and faith are coupled with each other. If one of them goes away, the other will follow it.

26. He, peace be on him, said: "Allah gives this world to both the righteous and the sinners. However, He gives this religion to His close friends only.

27. He, peace be on him, said: Allah gives the world to those whom He loves and those whom He detests. However, He gives religion to those whom He loves only.

28. He, peace be on him, said: "If the beggar knew what was in begging, he would never beg anyone. If the begged one knew was in prevention, he would never prevent anybody.

34. He, peace be on him, said: "The weapon of the ignoble person is ugly words.
A poet composed this wonderful maxim, saying:

Al-Baqir al-Murtada, the descendant of the Imam, peace be on him, was truthful when he said: "Ugly words are the weapon of the ignoble.

35. He, peace be on him, said: "Thunderbolt strikes the believer and the unbelievers. However, it does not strike the person who praises (Allah).

36. He, peace be on him, said: "The best deeds are three: Praising Allah in all conditions, treating people with justice, and giving the friend money.

37. He, peace be on him, said: "Regard the good deed as small. Do it quickly, and conceal it.

38. He, peace be on him, said: "In the Sunna (the Prophet's practices) and the religion, it is not an act of truthfulness to turn away from the generous.

39. He, peace be on him, said: "How wonderful good deeds are after evil deeds! How shameful evil deeds are after good deeds!

40. He, peace be on him, said: "The person may earn money through four (sources). They are unfaithful act, usury, treason, and theft. Such money is not accepted in four (acts). They are zakat, alms, pilgrimage (to Mecca), and Umra.

46. He, peace be on him, said: "Kindness may make the father go to extremes. This is the worst father. Negligence may make the child disobey (his parents). Such a child is the worst.

48. He, peace be on him, said: "Sins make misfortunes strike the servant.

There are several ahadith (traditions)  that the earth of Karbala (from the precinct of the resting place of Imam Husayn), known as khak shifa, cures every ailment save the deadly disease (by which death has been decreed).

lmam Jafar bin Muhammad as Sadiq said:

At the time of eating khak shifa [for picking and holding it see (ii) below] for curing a disease say:

In the name of Allah, for Allah, O Allah, the Lord of this sacred, helpful earth, the Lord of the light which is in it, the Lord of the body which is resting in it, the Lord of the guardian angels, let it cure my disease (mention the name of the disease, then kiss the earth and eat it with some water and continue), O Allah let this pure earth be a source of abundant means of livelihood, useful knowledge and a remedy for all (my) pains and ailments

BISMILLAAHI WA BILLAAHI ALLAAHUMMA RABBA HAAD'IHIT TURBATIL MUBAARAKATIZ' Z'AAHIRATI WA RABBAN NOORIL LAD'EE UNZILA FEEHI WA RABBAL JASADIL LAD'EE SAKANA FEEHI WA RABBAL MALAA-IKATIL MUWAKKI LEENA BIHI JA'ALHO SHIFAA-AN MIN DAA-IN

(mention the name of the disease, then kiss the earth and eat it with some water and continue)

ALLAAHUMMAJ-A'LHU RIZQAN WAASI -A'N WA I 'LMAN NAAFI--A'N WA SHIFAA-AN MIN KULLI DAA- IN WA SUQMIN

It is also mentioned in some books that the lmam had said that the earth should not be more than a seed of grain.

lmam Jafar bin Muhammad al Sadiq said:

Before picking khak shifa recite:

In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful, O Allah I beseech You in the name of this earth, in the name of the angel who has gathered it, in the name of the prophet who made it free from anything impure, in the name of (his) vicegerent who stayed here, send blessings on Muhammad and on his family, and let this earth cure and heal all my ailments and keep me safe from all fears.

BISMILLAAHIR RAH'MAANIR RAH'EEM ALLAAHUMMA INNEE AS-ALUKA BIH'AQQI HAAD'IHIT' T'EENATI WA BI H'AQQI L MALIKI L LAD'EE AKHAD'AHAA WA BIH'AQQIN NABIYYIL LA'DEE TANAZZAHAA WA BI H'AQQIL WAS'IYYIL LAD'EE H'ALLA FEEHAA S'ALLI A'LAA MUH'AMMADIN WA AHLI BAYTIHEE WAJ-A'L LEE FEEHAA SHIFAA-AN MIN KULLI DAA--IN WA AMNAN MIN KULLI KHAWFIN

Then lmam also said:

When you have picked khak shifa recite:

Surah al Fatihah, Surah Ya Sin, Surah al Qadr, Surah Al Kafirun, Surah al Ikhlas, Surah al Falaq, Surah al Nas & Ayatal Kursi

And the following dua:

O Allah, in the name of Muhammad, Your servant, Your dearest friend. Your prophet, Your messenger, Your trustee; in the name of Amir aI Mumeneen Ali ibn Abi Talib, Your servant, brother of Your messenger; in the name of Fatimah, daughter of Your Prophet and wife of Your Wali; in the name of Hasan and Husayn, in the name of the rightly guided guides; in the name of the guardian angel; in the name of the body covered by it; in the name of all angels and messengers, make this earth cure my disease and also of those who beseech You for removal of ailments, pains, diseases; and keep me (and all the beseechers) protected from all fears. O Allah, for the sake of Muhammad and his family, let this (earth) give me useful knowledge, abundant means of livelihood, let it cure my pains and diseases, let it keep me safe from misfortunes; injuries, all kinds of pains. Verily You have power over all things. O Allah, the Lord of this sacred, blessed earth and the angel who descended on it and the vicegerent who is resting under it, send blessings on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad, and let it help me and benefit me. Verily You have power over all things.

An excerpt from the instructions given by Imam al-Sadiq to his successor and son, Imam Musa al-Kadhim (peace be upon them both):

"My son, accept my commandments and memorize my words, for if you memorize them, you will lead a happy (life) and die a praised (death).

My son, indeed, whoever is content becomes rich, whoever looks at what is in the hand of other than him dies poor, whoever is displeased with what Allah has predestined for him accuses Allah in His Decree, whoever regards his own slip as small regards the slip of others as big.

My son, whoever uncovers the veil of others, his defect is uncovered, whoever draws the sword of disobedience is killed with it, whoever digs a well for his brother falls into it, whoever makes friends with the foolish is degraded, whoever makes friends with the knowledgeable is respected, and whoever enters the evil places is accused.

My son, say the truth for you or against you, and beware of slander, for it plants enmity in the hearts of men. My son, when you seek generosity, seek it from its places (i.e. the noble men), for generosity has places, the places have origins, the origins have branches, the branches have fruit, no fruit is sought but with a branch, and no firm origin but in a good place.

My son, when visit, visit the good, but do not visit the wicked, for they are like the solid rock whose water does not gush out, the tree whose leaves do not get green, and the land whose plants do not appear."

The Nahj al-Balaghah stresses that taqwa is for man a shield and a shelter, not a chain or a prison. There are many who do not distinguish between immunity and restraint, between security and confinement, and promptly advocate the destruction of the sanctuary of taqwa in the name of freedom and liberation from bonds and restraint.

That which is common between a sanctuary and a prison is the existence of a barrier. Whereas the walls of a sanctuary avert dangers, the walls of a prison hinder the inmates from realizing their inner capacities and from benefiting from the bounties of life.

Ali (a) clarifies the difference between the two, where he says:

Let it be known to you, O servants of God, that taqwa is a formidable fortress, whereas impiety and corruption is a weak and indefensible enclosure that does not safeguard its people, and does not offer any protection to those who take refuge in it. Indeed, it is only with taqwa that the tentacles of sins and misdeeds can be severed.

Ali (a), in this sublime advice, compares sins and evil deeds which are afflictions of the human soul to poisonous insects and reptiles, and suggests that the faculty of taqwa is an effective defence against them.

In some of his discourses, he makes it clear that taqwa not only does not entail restraint and restriction or is an impediment to freedom, but on the other hand it is the source and fountainhead of all true freedoms.

In sermon 230, he says:

Taqwa is the key to guidance, the provision
for the next world, the freedom from every kind of slavery, and the deliverance from every form of destruction.
