Regarding Qayamat Allah says in the Qur'an, "It will be momentous in the heavens and the earth, It will not come on you but of a sudden". (Surah-al-A'araf: 187) Allamah Qutubuddin Rawandi relates from Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (A.S.) that once Prophet Isa (A.S.) asked Jibra'eel as to when would Qayamat come? As soon as Jibra'eel heard about Qayamat, he started trembling and fell down unconscious. When he regained consciousness he said, "O Ruhullah! Verily you know more about it than me", and he recited the above Verse (Ayah).

Shaikh Ali bin Ibraheem Qummi quotes Imam Ja'far as- Sadiq (A.S.) as saying that once Jibra'eel was seated in the presence of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) Suddenly he looked towards the sky and turned pale because of terror. He asked the Prophet to give him refuge. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) looked towards the sky where Jibra'eel had seen. He saw an Angel whose wings spread from the east to the west as if covering it. He looked towards the Holy Prophet and said, "O Mohammad (S.A.W.S.)! I have come down with an order from Allah. Choose from among these two any one, either kingdom and Prophethood, or Allah's slavery and Prophethood".
The Holy Prophet turned towards Jibra'eel and saw that he had regained strength by then and asked for his advice. Jibra'eel told the Prophet to choose Allah's slavery and Prophethood. The Prophet told the Angel that he opted for Allah's slavery and Prophethood. After getting the reply, the Angel placed his right leg on the first heaven, then lifted the second one and placed it on the second heaven. Likewise he started climbing the heavens until he reached the seventh heaven. He become smaller, the size equal to a bird. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) turned towards Jibra'eel and said, "I have never seen you so much frightened before, what is the reason for it"? Jibrateel answered, "O Prophet! do you know who this Angel was?
He was Israfeel. From the day Allah created the heavens and the earth, Israfeel never came down to the earth. When I saw him coming down I assumed that he must have come down to announce the arrival of Qayamat. Hence the color of my face turned pale due to fright of Qayamat as you saw. But when I saw that he had come down to give you glad tidings, I was relieved and regained my consciousness".
It is related that there is no Angel in the heavens or the earth, skies or mountains, seas or deserts who do not fear fridays. Because they think that Qayamat may come on that very day. It is also narrated that whenever the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) would talk about Qayamat, there would be sternness in his voice, and his cheeks would turn red.

Shaikh Mufeed quotes in `Al-Irshad' that when the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) returned to Madina from the expedition of Tabook, Amr bin Ma'dikarib came to visit him. The Prophet said to him, "Submit to Islam Amr, then Allah will protect you from the greatest terror". "What is the greatest terror"? he asked, "for I fear nothing". It is said that Amr`was a very brave and strong man. His bravery can be proven by the fact that he had conquered many areas. His sword was famous by the name of ('Shamsheere Samsaam') One stroke of his sword would cut asunder the neck of a camel. During the caliphate of Umar ibn Khattab, Umar told Amr to give him his sword. Amr gave it to him. Umar hit it hard but it had no effect.
He threw it in a rage saying that it was no good. To which Amr replied, "0 King! You asked for my sword, not my hands". Umar became furious at this reply and ordered him to be. When Amr told the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.)`that I fear nothing, the Prophet said, "Amr, it is not as you think and suppose. Indeed there will be one great shout among the people. Not one person will remain who does not attend, nor a living person who does not die, except as Allah wishes.
Then there will be another great shout among them, and those who are dead will assemble and all get into ranks. The heavens will split open and the earth will be crushed. The mountains will be cut asunder and fire will hurl them like sparks. No one who has a soul will remain, except his heart be stripped bare while he mentions his sins and is occupied with his soul, except as Allah wishes. Then, where will you be, Amr at this"? "Indeed I am hearing of a terrible event", said Amr. Then he believed in Allah and His Apostle. People from his tribe also accepted Islam and returned back.

Verily Qayamat is full of fright and terror, so much so that even the dead tremble in their graves. It is narrated through many great personalities, that when the dead men where raised back to life by them, they saw that their hair had turned gray. They asked them the reason. To which they replied that, "When we were told to arise, we thought that Qayamat had come, and our hair turned grey due to it's fright".

The Valley of punishment (Wadi-e-Barhoot)
The Valley of punishment (Wadi-e-Barhoot) is situated in the barren lands of a deserted valley in Yemen, which is devoid of food or water. This is the dwelling place of the evil spirits (rooh) who are made to stay there during Barzakh and taste severe chastisement.
One day a man came to the presence of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) in a manner that fear had overtaken him and his face had turned pale. He said that he had witnessed an astonishing event which was the cause of his restlessness. On the Prophet's inquiry he said: "My wife has a disease, for the cure of which she requested me to fetch some water from the well at Wadi-e-Barhoot (Mineral water has got the power to cure skin diseases). I took a leather bag and a bowl and left when I reached there the eerie surrounding made me fearful and I hastily started searching for the well. I found one well and was about to fill water in the bag, when I heard the noise of chains from above me. I heard a voice requesting me for water for he was dying of intense thirst. When I looked above I saw a man hanging by a chain which was bound in his neck. I was confused but agreed to his request for water, When I extended my hand to offer him water, the chain was suddenly pulled on top, and the man reached just near the blazing sun. I was dumb- founded and scared, and started filling the water bag when I saw the man being sent down again.
He again requested me for water, and like before when I extended my hand to give him, the chain was pulled up. This happened thrice. On the third time I was totally frightened and ran away from there. O Prophet! I now request you to explain to me the incident". The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) replied, "The man whom you saw in the Wadi-e-Barhoot was none other than the accursed Cain (Qabeel, the son of Prophet Adam), who had mercilessly murdered his brother Abel (Habeel). He will be punished in the same manner in the valley, and on the day of Qayamat he will be fed to the blazing fire of hell".
Sayyed Mo'min Shablanji Shafe'i in his book `Noorul Absar' relates from Abul Qasim bin Mohammad, who says: One day I saw some people gathered near the `Maqame Ibraheem' in the Masjid-ul-Haraam (Ka'bah), and asked them the reason for it.
They said that a christian hermit had converted to Islam and had an astonishing incident to narrate. I went and saw an old man wearing woolen clothes sitting there and inquired of him.
He said, "One day I was seated outside my hut gazing at the river and adoring it. Suddenly I saw a huge bird having the head of a donkey descending from the sky. It came down and sat on a bowlder. It spitted something from it's mouth and flew away. I observed properly and saw that it was a quarter part of a human body. The bird returned again and spitted another quarter part of the human body. This happened four times. When all the four parts collected together, a man arose from it. I was astonished, when I saw the bird coming again. The bird started biting the man and severed a quarter part of his body and swallowed it without chewing and flew away. It returned four times until it had swallowed the whole body in parts. I wondered as to what was happening and who the person might be. I regretted not having asked the person when the bird was away. On the second day I saw the same thing happening and gathered courage and went up to the person and asked him as to who he was, and why was he being troubled in such a manner.

He replied that his name was Abdul Rahman ibn Muljim(May Allah (s.t.)'s laanat be always on this maloon), the murderer of Ali ibn Abi Talib, and the bird was sent by Allah to punish him regularly for the grievous crime (murder of Hazrat Ali) which he had committed. Having got the reply, I left my hut and came about to inquire as to who this Ali (A.S.) was. People told me that he was the cousin, son-in-law, and the Vicegerent (Wasi) of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S) of Islam. I have thus accepted Islam because of this event and have come to mecca to perform the Pilgrimage (Haj), Lesser Pilgrimage (Umrah), and the Ziarat of the grave of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S).

The Valley of Peace (Wadi-us-Salam)
A question may arise in the minds of people as to where does such a vast event of Barzakh take place. A human's intellect is beyond it's understanding. In traditions (Ahadees) this universe is compared to the mother's womb, and the state of Barzakh to the expansive world outside it. If a child in the mother's womb is informed about a vast and expansive world outside, it will be difficult for it to grasp it. In the same manner human intellect cannot understand the state of the expansive Barzakh. As is said in the Holy Qur'an: "So no soul knows what is hidden for them of that which will refresh the eyes". (Surah-as-Sajdah: 17)

Whatever as come down to us from the Holy Aimmah (A.S.) has to be relied upon. It is related in traditions that whenever a believer (Mo'min) dies anywhere in the east or the west, his spirit is taken to the Valley of Peace (Wadius-Salaam) in Najaf near the grave of the Commander of the faithful Ali (A.S.).In another tradition Najaf is described as an assembling place for the high-honoured and blessed Angels (Malaeka). And if the dead man is a believer in the Holy Aimmah (A.S.), and is buried in Najaf, he rejoices abundant bliss. While if a sinful person is buried in Najaf and his spirit is being punished in 'Wadi-e-Barhoot', his spirit strengthens it's union with the body and hence is relieved of the punishment, as has been related in earlier incidents. Some useful supplications (dua's)for the benefit of the believers. (1) Shaikh Mufeed in his book " Muqni'ah" relates from Ali bin Mahziyar who quotes Imam Mohammed At-Taqi (A.S.) as saying that, in the blessed month of Ramazan, the recitation of this dua' every day and night is highly recommended:
يا ذا الذي قبل كل شيء يا ذا الذي ليس كمثله شيء و يا ذا الذي ليس في السموات العلى ولا في الارضين السفلى ولا فوقهن ولا تحتهن ولابينهن اله يعبد غيره لك الحمد الا يقوى على احصائه الا انت فصل على محمد صلاة لا يقوى على احصائها الا انت
(2) Shaikh Kulaini and other scholars narrate that Imam Ja'far -as-Sadiq (A.S.) had recommended the following dua' to Zurara bin A'yan. He (A.S.) said that this dua' is useful to be recited by His Shi'ahs during the days of concealment (ghaibat) to be saved from troubles and anxieties:
اللهم عرفني نفسك فانك ان لم تعرفني نفسك لم اعرف نبيك اللهم عرفني رسولك رسولك فانك ان لم تعرفني رسولك لم اعرف حجتك اللهم عرفني حجتك فانك ان لم تعرفني حجتك فانك ان لم تعرفني حجتك ضللت عن ديني
(3) It is narrated by many great scholars that to remain safe from troubles during the days of concealment, the Shia'ah should recite supplications of Imam Mahdi (A.S.) and offer sadaqs on His behalf. One of the dua's is as follows: First praise Allah and send blessings upon Mohammad and His Progeny, then recite:
اللهم كن لوليك الحجة بن الحسن صلواتك عليه وعلى آبائه في هذه الساعة وفي كل ساعة ولياً وحافظاً وقائداً وناصراً ودليلاً وعيناً حتى تسكنه ارضك طوعاً وتمتعه فيها طويلا
(Lastly, may Allah illuminate the grave of the author of this useful and creative work, Shaikh Abbas Qummi, and offer him refuge under His Throne in Qayamat and forgive his sins, and also exalt his position in Paradise among the Shi'ahs and faithful slaves of Ahlulbait - translator).

Abul Qasim Raghib Isfahani writes in his book, "Zari'ah", that one day a wise man passed by the house of man who was sitting at the door. The interior of the house was beautiful and well decorated. But the master was in a dirty state, and was ignorant and foolish. When the wise man saw this false dignity, he detested the man and spitted on his face. The man became furious and said, "`What an ignoble and foolish act you have done. The wise man replied, "This is not foolishness, but whatever I have done is sound. Saliva is thrown in the most degraded place, and in your entire house your face seemed the most befitting for it". The wise man hence warned him against ignorance and stupidity. He advised him, that adornment and beautification of the (perishable) house is not the way to salvation (when the soul is not adorned with the ornament of knowledge and wisdom).
And it has to be borne in the mind, that knowledge without practise is vain, and the scholar who does not practise what he preaches is useless.
Prophet Isa (A.S.) says, "The most wretched amongst men is the one who is known among people for his knowledge, but is indolent with regard to practise".

Shaikh Sadooq relates, that one day Ma'az bin Jabal came weeping to the presence of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) asked him the reason for weeping. Ma'az replied, "O Prophet ! A youth is standing at your door and weeping as a mother weeps at the dead body of her young son. His state is pitiable, and he desires to meet you". The Prophet (S.A.W.S.) called him in. The youth came in and saluted the Prophet. The Prophet (S.A.W.S.) answered his salutation and asked him the reason for weeping so bitterly. The youth replied, "O Prophet of Allah! Why should I not cry, for I have committed a grave sin. I fear that if Allah takes into account that sin of mine, and no doubt He shall do so, He shall throw me head-long into the fire of hell". The Prophet replied, "Have you committed `shirk'(associated anyone with Allah)"? He said, "I seek refuge in Allah from being a polytheist (mushrik)". The Prophet asked, "Then have you killed anyone without any reason"? He replied in the negative. The Prophet then said, "Even if your sin is bigger than the mountains, Allah shall forgive you". He replied, "Verily my sin is bigger than that". The Prophet said, "Then if your sin is bigger than the seven worlds, the seas, the trees and whatever is in them, then too Allah is merciful, He shall forgive you. He replied that his sin was even greater than that. The heavens, the Throne (Arsh). and the Chair (Kursi), then too the Beneficent Allah will forgive you". The man still persisted. Then the Prophet turned towards him in anger and said, "O young man! Is your sin bigger than the Almighty". The youth replied, "Verily my Lord is free from all shortcomings, nothing is greater or bigger than Him, and He is above all things". The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) then said, "Who else besides the Almighty has got the power to forgive big sins. The young man replied, "Truly O Master, no one except Him has the power". The Prophet said. "Now then young man, tell me as to what sin have you committed for whose forgiveness you have lost all hope of mercy". `The young man replied, "O Apostle of Allah! Since the past seven years I have been digging the graves of people and robbing their shrouds. One day a young girl from among the Ansars (the Helpers, the people of Medina who had given refuge to the Prophet) died and was buried. As usual I went to the graveyard with the intention of robbing the shroud. 1 saw a newly formed grave and dug it, then I removed the shroud from her dead body, and leaving her naked started going away. When suddenly I looked at her, shaitaan tempted me and the girl seemed beautiful in my eyes. By now shaitaan and over powered me and I turned towards the girl and had intercourse with her. Then I left her in that state and started leaving, when I heard a voice from behind me saying: "O young man! May Allah curse you! On the day of Qayamat when our case will be brought before Almighty Allah, and it will become apparent that you removed me from my grave, robbed me of my shroud, left me in a state of pollution among the dead, and I will rise in this impure state on that day. May your youth burn in the fire hell". The youth continued, "After having committing this sin, I am sure that I will not be able to even smell the fragrance of Paradise". The Prophet replied, "O fornicator! Go away from me, I fear lest the fire of hell would burn everything along with you, for you have gone quite near to it".
(It should be noted here that this attitude of the Holy Prophet towards the young man was so as to put fear (of Allah and the hereafter) in his heart, so that he my feel ashamed and repent sincerely for this indecent act, as will be seen later).

When the young man heard these words from the mouth of the Prophet (S.A.W.S.), he left His presence. He went to the market place and bought food for some, days and went to one of the mountains of Madina to repent. He wore a dress of sack-cloth and started worshipping Almighty. He put his hands behind his neck and said, "O Lord! This slave Bahlool of Your's is standing in front of You with his hands tied. O Allah! You know me well and also my sin. Verily I regret over it and even went to Your Prophet to confess my guilt. He turned me away from Him thereby increasing my fear (of Your wrath). I now ask You in the name of Thy Magnificence, Thy Glory, and Thy Best Names, do not forsake me and leave me in despair.O Allah! Do not reject my Prayers, and do not turn away Your blessings from me".
Forty days passed in this state of repentance. He wept such bitterly that even the animals and beasts lamented over his pitiable condition. When forty days passed away, he lifted his hands towards the sky and said, "O my Lord! Have you heard my words? And if You have forgiven me, reveal to Your Prophet to give me the glad tidings. And O Lord! If You have still not forgiven me, send Your wrath on me, a fire which would burn me in this very world. But save me from Your chastisement on the day of Qayamat"`. Almighty Allah forgave him and accepted his (sincere) repentance. It was revealed to the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.): And those who when they commit an indecency or do injustice to their souls, remember Allah and forgiveness for their faults, and who forgives the faults but Allah, and (who) do not knowingly persist in what they have done.
(As for) these, their reward is forgiveness from their Lord, and gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them, and excellent is the reward of the labourers. (Surah-al-Aale Imraan: 134, 135)
When this verse was revealed, the Prophet came out reciting it and incurred about Bahlool. Ma'az replied, "O Prophet of Allah! We have heard that he is at so and so mountain repenting". The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) accompanied by some of His close companions left for the place. He saw Bahlool standing between two stones with his hands tied on his neck. His face had turned dark because of the heat of the blazing sun, and his eyelashes had fallen because of intense weeping. He was saying "O Lord You have created us humans the best creatures (Ashraful Makhlooqat), and given me a good disposition and face. I wish I knew what would happen to me (in Qayamat). When You will forgive me and permit me to enter Your paradise, or forsake me and throw me into the blazing fire. O Allah! Surely You have favoured me, and Your rights are more than me. My sin is greater than the earth, the heavens, the Throne (Arsh), and the Chair (kursee). I wish I knew whether you will forgive me or disgrace me on the day of Qayamat". The young man was uttering these words and weeping and throwing dust on his head. Animals and beasts had surrounded him, and the birds had formed a circle around his head, and were weeping at his pathetic state. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) went towards him and untied his hands. He cleaned the dust from his hair and said, "Bahlool! I give you glad news that Allah has forgiven you and promises to save you from the fire of hell". Then He (S.A.W.S.) turned towards His companions and said. "O my companions! You too seek forgiveness from Allah just like Bahlool". Then He recited the above verse and gave the good news to Bahlool.
Allamah Majlisi in his `Aynul Hayaat' after quoting this narration, says that repentance has come terms and conditions which need to be fulfilled.

Shaikh Kulaini narrates on the authority of Imam Ali zainul Aabedeen (A.S.) that a person along with his wife and children was travelling in a boat when suddenly it sank. Everyone else was drowned except the man's wife, who fell on a log and was pushed away by the waves to the shores of a barren island. On that island there lived an evil thief who had left no sin uncommitted. When he saw that woman he asked her whether she was a human or a Jen ii. She replied that she was very much a human, and that her boat had wrecked. The man did not say anything but proceeded towards, and embraced her with the intention of cohabiting. He fell the woman to be trembling and in a troubled mood. He asked her the reason for her fright. She pointed towards the sky and say, "I fear Allah". The evil man said, "Have you ever done this act"? She replied, "By Allah! I have never committed adultery".The evil man said, "When you have never committed an indecent act, why do you fear ? Secondly it is I who am forcing you for adultery without your consent. Then too you fear Allah. In fact it is I who should fear Him more, for all through my life I have sinned". Saying this the evil man stepped back and returned home without uttering a word. He thought about the sins he had committed all through his life and felt ashamed, he left his home on way to repentance. On the way he met a hermit and they both became friends. The hermit told the man, "It has become too hot, please pray to Allah to send a cloud to shelter us from the heat of the blazing sun". The man replied, "All through my life I have never committed a good act, and hence I do not have the courage to ask from the Almighty". The hermit replied, "If this is so, I shall pray and you say Ameen". They did so, and a cloud appeared and gave shelter on their heads, until they reached a place where they had to part because their ways were different. They both bade farewell to one another, the hermit his way and the man his way. To the astonishment of the hermit, the cloud which was sheltering them went along with the man. Seeing this, the hermit went to the man and said, "Verily you are better than me, for your wish was granted while mine was refused. Please tell me as to which good act you have committed whose effect is such"? The man related the whole incident about the woman to the hermit. The hermit heard it and said, "Your fear of Allah made you give up that particular sin and repent sincerely upon all past ones, hence Allah forgave all your sins. Now in future avoid sinning, and always remain stead fast on the right path and never go astray.

Conditions for Repentance(Tawbah).
The first condition for asking repentance is that a man should ponder upon the Highness and Glory of Allah, and about the disobedience which he committed. Then he should think about the severity of his sin. He should know about the punishment which Allah has promised for him in this world as well as the hereafter (which have been related in the Qur'an and traditions). Verily this will make him regret his sins, and he will rectify the loss done. Repentance has the following effects: (1) The bond which existed between the slave and his Master which had broken off because of sinning, may again become firm, (2) The person (who is repenting) will pledge never to repeat the sin which he committed, and (3) He will strive to rectify the loss done.
Sins which need repentance:
The first type of sine which need repentance are those which are related to the person committing it only, and no other person having being effected by it. It's punishment is reserved for the hereafter. For example, a man using gold, or wearing a silken dress. The repentance of this sin is that the person should repent sincerely and promise never to commit it again. This will become the reason for warding off Allah's wrath in Qayamat.
The second type of sins are those which are related to another person other than the one committing it. Again these are of two types (1) Huququllah (Rights of Allah), and (2) Huququn Naas (Rights of men). If a man has usurped the property of someone, or has committed such a sin whose atonement is the freeing of a slave, and in spite of being capable of rectifying it, does not do so, he will not be forgiven. It is obligatory on him to pay the atonement. And if someone has not recited the obligatory Prayers or neglected fast, it is compulsory on him to perform it's elapsed (Qaza) In the case of rights of men, if a person has usurped someone's wealth, then he is compelled to return it to it's righful owner. Or someone has lead someone astray, then it is obligatory for him to guide him to the right path.

Lady Zahra was born in city of Mecca, in modern day Saudi Arabia, to Prophet Muhammad and his wife Khadija binte Khawlid. Lady Fatima is considered to be one of the most important and reputable of all women, not simply because she was the Prophet's daughter, but because she was a woman of great piety and incredible influence. She is held as an example for Muslim women to follow; Lady Fatima was devoted to Islam, her father, her husband, her children, her community - and was one of the earliest pioneers of women's rights in Islamic history. Many historical records indicate the Lady Fatima's great distinction.  Islamic texts also indicate that, just as she holds a divine position of leadership here on Earth, she will also hold a similar position in Heaven.

Lady Fatima was killed after suffering great physical trauma, and has been mourned for centuries by countless devout believers.  It is not entirely certain where she was buried, as she requested a private and secluded ceremony, but most believe it is either at the cemetery of Jannatul Baqi or in the Masjid-un-Nabi in Medina, also in modern day Saudi Arabia.

IIC has created the Lady Fatima Zahra Information Packet. This packet is developed to help people learn about Lady Fatima, even if they have little or no familiarity with Islam. Presented as a mini-magazine, this packet will help readers learn about Lady Fatima's life, her accomplishments, and her relationship with her father - Prophet Muhammad. O, Zeynab you are the head band of Umm al-Kitab
You have the tongue of Abu Torab in your mouth
Your expression is full of storm of wrath
Noah stands over your flood
Your Speech is the majesty of the lion of god
Dhul Faqar-Murtida is in your tongue
O, sister of guardian, verily your speech did as Ali’s sword
O, You saved your life just by saying ‘be silent’
O, you are the soul of the verse ‘do not despair’
When your melody of wrath was heard by the  bells,
The bells kept silent O, sweatheart of Ali
O, Fatima ! if you were the wife of Ali of nobility, a mother for Mustafa
Zeynab was more than a sister
She was a mother to her brother
Who hath trained such a daughter, but you
When did a shell form a pearl like you.

O, Zeynab! The flamming candle
O, the memory of blazing tents
Speak of Karbala’s suffering
Narrate the story of braves and cowards
Tell about the completely burnt palms
About the dried water-skins
About the weeping, moaning and tearing
Abot the Euphrates, and the instability of water
About the river and tearing of water
Describe the inauspicious palace of Yazid
(written by Muhammad Ali Mujahidi (Parvanah) ( Sayri dar Malakut 396-400)

THE WISDOM OF IMAM AL-KADHIM (A.S.)

1.   Anyone who acknowledges Allah should not complain when his earnings are delayed and should not suspect the acts of Allah
2.   The believer is like the two pans of a balance – the more faith he enjoys the most misfortunes he faces.
3.   Try to divide your time into four parts:  The first should be dedicated to (secret) supplication to Allah, the second to seeking earnings, the third to associating with the friends and the trusty people who show you your defects and treat you sincerely, and the fourth to your legal pleasures.  Through this part, you can manage the other three parts.
4.     Do not think of poverty or long age.  He who thinks of poverty will be stingy and he who thinks of long age will be acquisitive.  Offer a share of worldly pleasures to yourselves by enjoying moderately the legal pleasures that do not injure your personalities.  Make sure pleasures help you fulfill your religious duties perfectly.  It is said that, “As for those who neglect the legal worldly pleasures completely and adhere to the religious duties or neglect the religious duties and adhere to the worldly affairs, they are not from us
5.   In the time of the just ruler, you should thank and he will gain rewards.  In the time of the unjust ruler, you should tolerate and he will burden the punishment of the sin.
6.   The best kind of alms-giving is to help the weak.
7.   For the steadfast, the misfortune is one, while it is two for the impatient.
8.   Only the sufferers of injustice can realize its intensity.

THE ETHOS OF PROPHET JACOB (A.S.)
JACOB was the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham.  His mother is Rafaqah, the daughter of Betoeel, the brother of Abraham.  He married his cousin, Laeeya who gave birth to many children. After the death of Laeeya, he married her sister, Raheel (Racchel),.  Joseph and Benjamin were of her children.
According to Immam Baqer (A.S.) he used to live in Kan'aan.  But he left it for Egypt where he passed away and his body was returned to Kan'aan.
According to Naasikh At-Tawarrekh, Jacod and his twin brother - Isa- passed away on the same day and buried by Joseph near each other.  That was 3630 years after the fall of Adam.
HIS HOSPITALITY
Immam Ja'far as-Sadiq (a.s.) said: Prophet Jacob had a herald who heralded everyday from Jacob's house up to distance of six kilometers: “O people! Whoever wants to have lunch should come to Jacob's house " and when evening came, he heralded: " O people! Whoever wants to to have dinner should come to Jacob's house."
GOOD FOR GOOD
Isaac said to Jacob: Allah has appointed you as Prophet and your sons as Prophets.  He has placed in you good and blessing.  And he ordered him to go to a place in Damascus by the name o Fadan.
When he reached that place, he saw a girl standing at a well intending to water a sheep.  On top of the well, there was a stone which could only be removed by a number of men.  Jacob said: Who are you ? She said “I am daughter of Laban who was Jacob's uncle.  Jacob removed the stone immediately, helped the girl and watered that sheep.  Then, he went to his uncle and sought her hand in marriage Laban, which was accepted and Jacob married her.
JACOB'S FAMILY
When it was morning, Joseph wore his clothes, fastened his belt took his staff in his hand and left home together with his brethren.  Jacob too poured Joseph's provision in the same bowl in which Abraham poured Isaac's provision.  When Jacob went to see off his children, they said:
O Prophet of Allah! Go back.
Jacob said: O sons! I advise you to piety (guard against evil) and to my beloved, Joseph.  I beseech you by Allah to feed Josepeh when hungry and water him when thirsty.  Keep on safe-guarding him.  Do not abject him.  Be merciful and grateful to him.
They said: O our father! We are all your sons and he too is our brother but since you love him he is more beloved than we are.
Jacob said: Yes, my sons! Allah is my witness over you.  While I fear you might harm him.  Then he came to Joseph, embraced him, drew him closely to his chest, kissed him between the eyes, saying: I entrust you to Allah.  Then he went back home.
 HIS GRIEF
When Jacob heard the news about Joseph from his sons, he turned his face from them saying:
Woe to me for separation from my dear Yusuf.  He wept so much that his eyes went blind and the grief of separation agonized his heart.  Jacob's sons said to him: By Allah, you will repeat Yusuf's name so many times that you will get sick because of separation or you will die.
Jacob said to his sons: I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allah, and I know from Allah what you do not know (Holy Quran 12:86)
 GOOD NEWS FOR JACOB
Immam Sadiq (A.S.) said: An Arab Bedouin came to Joseph to buy the provision from him.  When he did so, Joseph asked: Where is your house? He said: In such and such place.
Joseph said: When you pass by such and such desert, stop for while and cry loud: O Yaqoob! O Yacoob! Then a graceful handsome man will come and answer you.  Tell him: In Egypt I saw a man.  He sends regards to you and says: Your trust is with Allah- Glorified and Honored- and that he has not been killed.
When the Arab Bedouin reached that place, he told his servants to look after his camels, and then cried: O Yaqoob! O Yaqoob!
A handsome tall strong blind man came out groping against the wall and approached him.  The Bedouin said:  Are you Yaqoob? He said: Yes.  Then the Bedouin conveyed his message, telling him what Joseph had said.  Hearing this, Yaqoob became unconscious and fell on the ground.
After some time he came to and said: O Bedouin! Do you want to pray to Allah for your needs?
The Bedouin said: Yes, I am wealthy and married to my cousin but she has not given birth to any child yet.  I want you to pray to Allah to give me a child.
Yaqoob performed ablution and a two-rak'at prayer invoking Allah to give the man a child.  Yacoob's prayer was answered and the man's wife gave birth to twins for four or six times.
 COMPLETE FAVOR
It is reported that Jacob asked the messenger who brought the good news of Joseph's being alive: How is Yusuf? The messenger said: He is the king of Egypt and master of that terrorist.
Jacob said: What am I do with his kingdom and terrorist? In what religion did you find him? The man said:  In Islam, the Jacob said:  Now the favor has been completed.
HIS LETTER TO THE KING
Jacob wrote a letter to Joseph which read: From Yaqoob son of Ishaq, sacrifice of Allah, son of Ibraahem, the friend of Allah, to the king of Egypt.
But next: We are the household constantly prone to tribulation.  My grandfather, Ibraaheem afflicted with tribulation.  He was thrown into fire.  My father, Ishaq was afflicted with being sacrificed.
I had a son being apple of my eyes, whose sight made me happy.  He was devoured by a wolf.  I wept over him so much that my eyes went blind.
He had brother who made me glad after him but you took him for a thief whereas we are a household never committing theft, nor being known as thieves.  Do me a favor by setting free my son whom you have taken as a thief.
When the letter reached Joseph, he opened it and by reading the letter, he yelled, went inside and stared weeping.  Then Joseph washed his face, came out and read the letter again.  Then he yelled, wept and went inside and wept once again. Then he washed his face and returned to his brother saying:
Do you know how you treated Yusuf and his brother when you were ignorant? (H.Q. 12:89)
When Jacob and Joseph met, they embraced each other and started weeping.  Then Joseph said: O father! You have wept over me so much that you have gone blind.  Don't you know that we are gathered on the Day of Judgment when we will meet?
Jacob said: Yes, my son! I knew this but I feared you might lose your faith and we will be separated on the Day of Judgment.
ADVISING HIS SONS
Being at the point of death, Jacob called his son
What will you serve after me?
They said: We will serve your Allah and the Allah of your fathers, Ibraaheem and Ismail and Ishaq, One and Only, and to Him do we submit (HQ: 2:133)
Jacob said: O my sons! Surely Allah has chosen for you (this) faith, therefore die not unless you are Muslims  ( H.Q. 2:132)
SERVICE OF BAYTUL- MUQADDAS
He was the first to enter it and the last to leave it.  He used to light the candles there in.

HIS DESCRIPTION OF THE GOD-FEARING
as said by Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s.)......
All praise and gratitude are due to Allah (s.t.)
The God-fearing in this world are the people of distinction.  Their speech is to the point, their dress is moderate and their gait is humble.  They submit to Allah with obedience.  They keep their eyes closed before what Allah has made unlawful for them and they put their ears to knowledge.  They remain in the time of trials as though they remain in comfort due to their satisfaction with the act of Allah.  If there had not been fixed periods of life ordained for each, their spirits would not have been remained in their bodies even for the twinkling of any eye because of their eagerness for the reward and fear of chatisment.  The greatness of the Creator is seated in their heart, and so, everything else appears small in their eyes.  Thus, to them, Paradise is as though they see it and are enjoying its favours.  To them Hell is also as if they see it and are suffering punishment in it.
Their hearts are grieved, they are protected against evils, their bodies are thin, their needs are scanty, their souls are chaste, and their supporting Islam is great.  They endured hardship for a short while, and in consequence they secured comfort for a long time.  It is beneficial transaction that the Generous Lord made easy for them.  The world aimed at them, but they did not aim at it.  It captured them, but they freed themselves from it by a ransom.
During a night are upstanding on their feet reading portions of the Holy Quran and reciting it in a well-measured way, creating through its grief for themselves and seeking by it the cure for their ailments.  Their griefs are stirred as they weep for their sins and the pains of their wounds and injuries.  If they come across a verse creating eagerness for Paradise they pursue it avidly, and their spirits turn towards it eagerly, and they feel as if it is in front of them. And when they come across a verse which contains fear of Hell they bend the ears of their hearts towards it, and feel as though the sound of Hell and its cries are reaching their ears.  They bend themselves form their backs, prostrate themselves on their foreheads, their palms, and their toes, and beseech Allah the Sublime for the deliverance.
During the day they are wise, learned, virtuous and God-fearing.  Fear of Allah has made them thin like arrows.  If any one looks at them he belives they are sick, although they are not sick, and he says that they have gone made.  In fact, great concern (i.e., fear) has made them mad.
If they remember the sublimity of Allah the Exalted and the stability of His ominpotence, in addition to the mention of death and horrors of the Day of Resurrection, their hearts are dreaded, their views are agitated, and their minds are bewildered.  If they feel fearful, they hurry to Allah through good acts.  they are not satisfied with their meager good acts and do not regard their major acts as great.  They always blame themselves and are afraid of their deeds.
When anyone of them is spoken of highly, he says: “I know myself better than others, and my Lord knows me better than I know.  O Allah does not deal with me according to what they say, and make me better than they think of me and forgive me those shortcomings which they do not know.  You are the All-Knowing of the unknown.
The peculiarity of anyone of them is that you will see that he has strength in religion, determination along with leniency, faith with conviction, eagerness in seeking knowledge, courtsey in lenience, clemency in alms-giving, understading in awareness, knowledge in forbearance, moderation in riches, devotion in worship, gracefulness in starvation, endurance in hardship, mercy for the exhausted, fulfillment of the right, leniency in earning, desire for the lawful, pleasure in guidance, hatred from greed, piety in straightforwardness, and abstinence in appetites.  The approval of him who ingornes him does not decieve him. He does not stop judging his deeds.  He performs virtuous dees but still feels afraid.  In the evening he is anxious to offer thanks to Allah.  In the morning his anxiety is to remember Allah.  He passes the night in fear and rises in the morning in joy- fear lest night is passed in forgetfulness, and joy over the favor and mercy received by him.  If his self refuses to endure a thing which does not like, he does not grant its request towards what it likes.  The coolness of his eye lies in what is to last forever, while from the things of this world that will not last he keeps aloof.  He tranfuses knowledge with forbearance, and speech and action.
You will see his laziness aloof, his activity uninterrupted, his hopes simple, his shortcomings few, heart fearing, his spirit contented, his ingronance absent, his affairs simple, but religon safe, his desires dead, his anger suppressed, his mannerism pure. He does not brief about what is kept secret with him.  He does not conceal the testimony agaist his enemies.  He does not do any practice ostentatiously.  He does not leave anything shyly.  Good alone is expected from him.  Evil from his is not to be feared.  Even if he is found among those who remember Him.  He forgives him who is unjust to him, and he gives to him who deprives him.  He behaves well with him who behaves ill with him.
His forbearance is not absent.  He does not neglect what adorns him.  Indecent speech is far from him, his utterance is lenient, his evils are turned its face from hi.  He is dignified during calamities, patient in distress, and thankful during ease.
He does not commit excess over him whom he hates, and does not commit sin for the sake of him whom he loves.  He does not claim posession of things that are not his.  He does not deny others' rights that are obligatory upon him.  He admits truth before evidence is brought against him. He does not misapproriate what is placed in his custody.  He does not oppress or threaten others.  He does not cause harm to his neighbor, he does not feel happy at others misfortunes.  He hurries to the right.  He fulfills the trusts.  He is slow in ill deeds.  He enjoins good and forbids evil.  He does not enter into the worldly pleasures wrongly and does not go out of right.
If is he silent his silence does not grieve him, if he laughs he does not raise his voice.  He satisfies with what is his.  Malice does not agitate him.  Whims do not overcome him.  Stringiness does not prevail him.  He does not desire for what is not his.  His associates with people so as to learn.  He keeps silent so as to be safe.  He asks so to undestand.  He does not listen to the good wording so that others will not find themselves neglectful in comparision with him.  He does not speak of his good actions so as to avoid taking pride in it before others.
If he is wronged he endures till Allah takes revenge on his behalf.  His own self is in distress because of him, while the people are in ease from him.  He puts himself in hardship for the sake of his next life, and makes people feel safe from himself.  His keeping way is not by way of vanity or feeling of greatness, nor his nearness by way of deceit and cheating.  He follows the example of the past men of virtue and he is the example of the coming people of virtue.

AN ISLAMIC DISCUSSION ON MAGIC
... All power belongs to The Most Beneficent and Most Merciful
IT IS NOT MAGIC IN MOST CASES ?
We tend to put all the blame for any misfortune/problem on other people, and most conveniently on magic.  Instead of looking at our sins and other reasons we immediately accept any suggestion (from anybody at all), that someone has done something to us! Islam does NOT permit us to make such assumptions about other people; especially for Muslims, Momins and more so for ones own relatives!
In 99% of cases we only incorrectly assume that magic has affected us and it may be true in a very rare case.
 WHAT IS MAGIC AND SOOTHSAYING
Magic generally includes : a) Writing and reciting some special chants and spells, burning of particular objects 2) Making a picture blowing, tying knots, burying special objects in particular places so that the person for whom it is intended is affected e.g. located, put to sleep, made ill etc.  c)  Bringing about some unnatural events by means of charms, amulets or talisman or potions.
Soothsaying is fortune telling, going to people (pir, babas ets.) for predictions, involving Jinn or spirits for unnatural events.  Some scholars equate it with Magic.
 ISLAMIC VIEW
Magic is unconditionally and absolutely HARAAM/prohibited.  A GUNAHE KABIRA (GREATER SIN) leading to Hell Fire.  A person who indulges in magic and does not repent, is punishable by death in an Islamic society, as it is equivalent to SHIRK  and severely criticized in many, many HADEES.
It is HARRAM to learn, teach, perform magic and indulge in soothsaying.  (for any cause whatsoever).  It is also HARRAM to go to soothsayers (pir, babas and magicians) and act on their advice.  Earnings from magic and payments to magicians also come under HARAAM category.
 MAGIC IS EVIL
The starting point on Magic involves physical disrespect to Quran in man cases !  The sorcerer discontinues all good actions and concentrates on performing satanic, rituals, committing adultery, drinking blood etc.
These acts bring the magician close to Satan so that he is helped in his magic.  Obviously the closer to Satan a man is, the further he is from any kind of truth and Islam.
A Muslim is one who submits to the ALL POWERFUL ALLAH (S.W.T.).     If he goes near these things he demonstrates that he has no faith in Allah (s.w.t.) and His chosen people.  If someone wishes for something bad to happen to His creation especially another Muslim, Allah (s.w.t.) will also hate him for it.  Such negative feelings arising out of pride, jealousy need treatment by consulting knowledgeable people and reading books on Ethics like Greater Sins, Self Building. "
 HOW TO PROTECT AGAINST MAGIC
 -   Have faith in Allah (s.w.t.) and rely on Him and HIS
     CHOSEN PEOPLE
-   Understand and realize that the Magicians' power is evil and
     very limited
-   Try to be with WUZOO all the time.
-   Regularly recite SURAH FAALAQ AND SURAH NAAS as much as possible
-   Give Sadaqah /charity (alms)
-   Invoke Allah (s.w.t.) through dua'as (see the book Oddatul Daee)
-   Consult an Aalim for help in case of need.
 SPECIAL DUAA
For protection (to be written on DEER SKIN and kept on person).  A person came to Amir-ul-Momineen H.Immam Ali (A.S.) and complained that a spell has been case on him.  Ali (A.S.) told him to write the following du'aa on the skin deer and keep it on with him so that the spell may not affect him.
"Bismillahi wa Billaahi Bismillahi Wa Maa Shaa-Allaahu Bismillahi wa laa Quwwata ill Billlaah.
Qaala Moosaa Maa Ji-tum Bihis sih'r Innallaha Sayubt'iluh Innallaaha La Yus'lih'u A'malal Mufisdeen
Fawaqa- A'L H'aqqu Wa Bat'ala Maa Kanoo Ya-Maloon.  Faghuliboo Hunna Lika Wanqalaboo S'aaghireen
In the Name of Allah and by Allah (Surah Yunus 81)  In the Name of Allah and as Allah willed.  In the Name of Allah.  There is no power or might except by Allah.
Musa (A.S.) said: Allah shall soon falsify the magic of those who have come with magic.
Indeed Allah does not improve the affairs of transgressors (Surah: Araaf 118).
Then the truth became manifested and falsified what they had done.  The truth triumphed and they were disgraced.
 ANOTHER IMPORTANT DUA'A
He also advised reciting the following duaa (verse 35 of Surah Qasas) seven times to safeguard against magic.  It is better to recite it seven times after Namaz-e-Shab and before the morning prayers.  It will protect one from evils of magic.
 Qaala Sanashuddu A'Zudaka Bi-Akheeka Wa Naj-A'lu Lakumaa Sulta'aanan Falaa Yas'illona Ilaykumaa Bi-Aayaatinaa Antumaa Wa Manit Taba-a'kumal Ghaliboon
In the Name of Allah and by the help of Allah.  Soon We shall strengthen your hand by your brother.  And appoint for you a force.  By which their mischief would not harm you.  Move ahead with Our signs.  You and your followers shall triumph.
WHAT ABOUT NUMEROLGY, ASTROLOGY PALMISTRY ETC. ?
Numerology is supplementary to soothsaying.  Astronomy is different from Astrology, which predicts future events with a belief that only stars and heavenly govern thins.  This is also HARAAM, and a person who has such a belief is also an Unbeliever (Kafir).
We need to rely on powerful methods at our disposal to change our future for the better instead of such ways, SADAQAH and observing ties of kinship (selah rehami) results in long lives.
Dua especially with the medium of Ahlul Bayt (A.S.) changes fortunes and destinies.
 AN INTERESTING INCIDENT
In the book Qasasul Ulama there is an anecdote of the period of Abbas the Safawid.
A Christian King sent a messenger to Abbas with the message that he may be given a chance to debate with Muslim scholars and if he defeats the Muslim scholars they must all accept Christianity.  Now the person sent by the Christian king had some powers by which he was able to guess accurately what others held in their fists.  The scholars were invited to debate with him and they included Mulla Mohsin Faiz.  When the debate began Mulla Mohsin remarked that the Christian King has sent an ordinary man instead of religious scholar for debate.  The envoy brushed the remark aside and told him to hide something in his fist so that he can prove his miraculous powers.  Mull Moshin kept the tasbish made of dust form Immam Hussain (A.S.)'s grave in his fist and challenged him to guess.  The man thought for sometime but kept quiet.  When Mullah urged him to speak up he said: “According to my knowledge there is a piece of Paradise soil in your hand but I am astonished as to where it was and how it came into your hands."
Mulla Moshin said: “You are correct. ! "  It is is the dust from the grave of Immam Hussain (A.S.) who was the grandson of our Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s).  Your statement itself proves that the Immam of Muslims was on the right.  Hence, you must accept Islam."  The Christian followed his conscience and became a Muslim.  He had acquired this power by acting in contradiction to all his wishes and desires for which he was being compensated in his world itself as he was not a believer.

THE RIGHTS OF WIVES AND HUSBANDS IN ISLAM
A major factor in strengthening the ties of mutual life is dependent upon the woman respecting her husband's rights.  The wife should only consider God and the Hereafter and not let anyone else interfere in regards to her husband's rights.  Others may be mistaken in the life of the newly-wed couple is pure jealously.  Women should remember that they are easily influenced by others.  They should consider this element of their nature, and pay close attention to the possibility of others being wrong.  They should remember God and their situation in the Hereafter and respect the man's humane, divine and religious rights.
The man likes the woman to be his woman.  She should maintain her sex role as a woman, as this her nature by creation.  She should limit her beauty, appeal, seduction, and coquettishness to her husband.  She should neither follow others nor should she accept the interference of distant or close relatives, neighbors or guests.  Anyway, she should be the wife of her husband, and live based on his will, and be a good mother to her children.  Some women forget that they are feminine.  They became rough, harsh, bitter and man-like.  This shall make man's life really bitter, and make him sorry about getting married.  They may even get fed up with life.  Some of the rights of the husband include: The woman should submit herself to her husband's sexual desires whenever he needs her.  The woman should obey her husband in all moral and religious affairs.  The woman should seek her husband's permission to leave the house, except for the required pilgrimage to Mecca.

1.   OBEDIENCE
Immam Baqir (a.s.) said: A woman came to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) and asked him what rights does the husband have over the wife?  He (s.a.w.s.) said: She must obey the husband, and not be rebellious.  The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said: A woman who performs her five required daily prayers, fasts for the month of Ramadan, performs the pilgrimage to Mecca, obeys her husband, recognizes the rights of Immam Ali, being that  he must be obeyed, shall enter Heaven from anyone of the eight gates which she desires to. The Hoy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) further stated: By the God who entrusted me with Prophethood, a husband has rights over his wife.  She should submit to his sexual desires.  She should not disobey his orders, and not oppose or quarrel with him.
In a very important and strong statement the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said: A woman has not fulfilled God's rights as long as she has not fulfilled her husband's rights.
One neither should nor conclude form the above traditions that the key to a woman's prosperity is solely obeying her husband.  But she should also have faith, worship God, do her religious duties, and avoid doing what is forbidden.   This means that she may prosper in this world and the Hereafter only if she gathers all these realties within herself.
 2.   SEXUAL SUBMISSION
It is obligatory for the wife to sexually submit herself to her husband at times; when there is no religious excuse.  It is even recommended that she declares her readiness to him.  The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said:   A woman should use the best perfume, wear her prettiest clothes, and groom herself in the best possible form.  She should appear in front of her husband, every morning and night displaying her beauties.  The husband has even more rights than this. If a woman carries out the instructions of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) exactly, she can keep her husband for herself, and keep him away from looking at or chasing other women, even in a lawful manner.  This is exactly the situation which causes conflicts.  The wife wants to wear her best clothes, perfume, and make-up for going out to wedding parties or visit her friends and relatives, but appears in front of her husband as she is (i.e simple as she can be).  Even after she returns from the party, she does not give her husband the slightest chance to see her.   This hurts her husband's feelings and weakens their relationship an may prepare the grounds of other problems.  Many at times the husband complaints about the wife's indifference and lack of interest in sexual submission and not making themselves up for them.  They have expressed their interest in temporary marriage (mutah) or divorce and re-marriage.  The only solutions and recommendations to the women at this stage is follow the instructions of the Immaculate Immams (a.s.) and the Noble Prophet of Islam (s.a.w.s.).  This way their husband will not become lustful outside the house and they will not have any marital problems.  Or else your life will be ruined and you will be responsible for it in the Hereafter.  In regards to man's attraction to his wife and her submission to him the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s) said: Do not elongate (lengthen) your prayers to avoid submitting to your husband.
 3.  GOING OUT OF THE HOUSE
Unfortunately, many women who have quit being a woman,  and consider themselves to be men do not obey their husbands in regards to seeking permission to go out of the house.  If it was deemed proper for women to freely go out of the housel the god would not have made it conditional upon the husband's permission.  Some women left the house without their husband's permission.  They caused sedition and corruption.  They let out their hair and showed their face.  They disturbed the pure atmosphere of the society.  They acted sexy and coquettish in the streets.  They even sometimes forced the men no to object in an attempt to protect their honor, so that these women could act as they pleased.  They imitated the Western culture, that of the Jews and the Christians.  They made such catastrophes for Islam and the Muslims that can never be compensated for. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) has ordered a woman not to leave the house without her husband's consent.  And if she does so without his permission, all the heavenly angels and each jinn or man who passes by her will damn her until she returns home.
Immam Ja'far as-Sadiq (A.S.) said:  One of the men form the Helpers (Ansar) went on a trip and ordered his wife not to leave the house until he returned home.  He father got ill while her husband was away.  She sent a messenger to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) asking him if she could visit her father.  The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) replied that she should obey her husband and stay at home.  He father got worse and she sent another message to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) but received the same reply.  Her father passed away and she sent another messenger if she can go for the burial and pray for her father, but she again received the same reply from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.).  The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) sent a messenger to the lady and said that God forgave you and your father for obeying your husband.
The Commander of the Faithful has instructed men as follows:  Protect your woman from the eyes of strange men, since this will better guard their chastity.  The bad influence of bringing untrustworthy men to your house is the same as letting them go out to be seen in public.  Make an effort so that they know one but you.
4 .DON'T BOTHER YOUR HUSBAND, AND DON'T BE VULGAR    AND ILL-TEMPERED
The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s) has made an amazing speech regarding this issue.  He delivered this lecture for women:
O' women, pay charity in God's way, even though it be your ornaments, even a date, since many of you swear and are ungrateful to your husband and will be the fuel for the Fire of the Hell.  Women said are we not mothers.  Don't we carry the babies in our wombs for many months?  Don't we breastfeed them.  Aren't these girls the heads of some households, and these sisters sympathetic to their brothers?  The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s) said yes. You get pregnant. You deliver children. You breastfeed them.  You are kind.  If women did not bother their husbands and got along with them, then no praying woman would burn in the Fire of Hell.
The Sixth Immam (a.s.) said:  These people's prayers are not accepted:  A maid's prayers who runs away are not accepted until she returns to her owners house; a woman whose husband is dissatisfied with her from night until the morning, and a leader who leads the people, but the people do not want him.  Ali the son of Jafar asked his brother Immam Musa Kazim (a.s.): What is status of a woman's prayers and conditions who angers her husband with her bad temper and vulgarity. ?  He answered she is sinful until her husband is pleased with her.  The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) has asked women not to expect of their husbands more than they can provide for them and not to degrade their status before anyone whether it be a relative or a stranger.  The Sixth Immam (a.s.) said:  A woman who bothers her husband, and makes him sorrowful is damned.  A woman who obeys her husband under any circumstances and respects him and does not bother him is prosperous.
 5.   WORKING AT HOME
The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) told Haola:  God shall prepare various delicious meals in Heaven for women who prepare delicious meals for their husbands.  He will tell them to eat and drink as a reward for their efforts in this world.  The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s) said:  God shall look favorably at any woman who changes the decorations in the house to make the house look better.  Whoever is favorably looked at by God will be save from punishment.
Immam Baqir (a.s.) said:  Bibi Fatema az-Zahra (s.a.) took care of  the work inside the house such as preparing the dough and cooking the bread, and the Commander of the Faithful took care of the work outside the house such as shopping and collecting wood.
 6.   RESPECT YOUR HUSBAND AND TREAT HIM WELL
The Seventh Immam (A.S.) said:  A woman's Jihad is to take good care of her husband.  A woman Jihad is being grateful to her husband; being kind with him; bearing with him when is poor; seeing him off when he leaves, welcoming him when he comes home; totally submitting to her husband at allowed times; putting on good clothes and make up for him; properly running the affairs of the house; avoiding wasteful-ness and not asking him for more than he can buy.  Such acts which are defined by the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s) and the Immams (A.S.) as a wife's duty towards her husband are her Jihad (Holy War).  Immam Baqir (A.S.) said: Nothing can intercede on behalf of a woman in God's presence than her husband's consent.  The Sixth Immam (a.s.) said : Some people went to see the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) and said we saw some folks who prostrated in front of their leaders.  Will you let us do so in front of you?.  The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said: No, but if I were to issue such an order, I would order women to prostrate in front of their husbands.  The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s) told Haola: God will make any woman who obeys her husband, and in patient with him under all circumstances a companion of the wife of the Prophet Jabcob (A.S.) in the Hereafter.  God will grant any woman a reward for bearing the bitter words of her husband.  For each word, He will count one day of fasting of a fighter in the way of God as her reward.  The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said: As husband's right over his wife is that she should turn up the light of his house, cook the food; welcome him at the door when he comes home; prepare water and towel for him to wash his hands and face; and submit herself to him sexually whenever  she does not have a religious excuse.  The Commander of the Faithful stood by the dead body of his wife Bibi Fatimah (s.a.) upon her death and said:
O' God.  I am pleased with your Prophet's daughter.  O' God, please be her companion, and alleviate her fears.
 7.        DO NOT MAKE YOURSELVES UP EXCEPT FOR YOUR HUSBAND
The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) told Haola: Do not let anyone other than your husband see your ornaments and jewelry.  Do not put on any perfume in the absence of your husband. Do not show off your attractive scarf and wrists.  If you do so, you will ruin our religion and make God angry.  The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) admonished women against wearing attractive clothes outside the house.  He also forbade wearing jewelry that makes noticeable noise.  A very important tradition exists from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) and must be seriously considered by the Muslims.  Any man, whose wife puts on make-up and leaves the house to go out and be seen in public with his consent, is a cuckold (husband of adulteress), and it is not a sin to call him so.  For each step that she takes, a house full of fire will be prepared for him.  Limit them in this respect, since these limitations are a cause of happiness and pleasure for you and family.
 8.   DO NOT USE YOUR HUSBANDS PROPERTY WITHOUT HIS CONSENT
The Sixth Immam (A.S.) said:  A wife is not free to let a slave free, give charity or bet without her husband's consent, however, the payment of the obligatory alms tax, visiting her relatives and doing good deeds do not need his permission.  The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s) said:  A woman should not donate any of her husband's property without his consent.  Should she do so, she will be sinful and the reward of her act will belong to the man

Learning to fly:
"So blessed be Allah, the Best of the Creators:  (Holy Quran 23:14)
A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could, and it could go no further. So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon.
The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the buttterly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which could contract in time.
Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.
What the man, in his kindness and haste, did not understand was that restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening, were Allah's way of forcing liquid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.
THE MORAL:
Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives. If Allah allowed us to go through our lives without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been.
WE COULD NEVER 'F L Y’

THE WORDS OF WISDOM OF THE IMAM (A.S.):
In misfortunes, Immam (A.S.) used to say: All praise is due to Allah (S.T.) who did not make any misfortune in my religious affairs; All praise is due to Allah who could, if He willed make my misfortune more catastrophic than what it is now.  All praise is due to Allah for the matter that He willed to be, and it was as He willed.
Daughters are advantages and sons are graces.  You will be rewarded for the advantages and asked about the graces.
Doing favors is the tax of graces, intercession is the tax of the power, diseases are the tax of bodies, and forgivness is the tax of success. Everything whose tax is defrayed will be guarded against loss.
The believer should live between two fears – the past sin that he does not know what Allah will do about it and the remaining days that he does not know what misfortunes he will encounter during them.  Thus, the believer begins his day fearfully and ends his day fearfully.  Except fear, nothing mends the believer.
Allah gives the worldly pleasures to those whom He loves as well as those whom He dislikes, while He gives the faith only to whom He selects among the creatures.
The actual generous charitable individual is that who spends his wealth for fulfilling the rights of Allah.
Good mannerism is a part of the religion.  It increases the earnings.
The avaricious is the niggardly.  The avaricious is eviler than the niggardly. The niggardly withholds what is in his hand, while the avaricious resents people to gain something and withholds what is in his hand.  He wishes he would gain whatever is there in people’ possession.
As some people showed ingratitude for Allah’s graces, He changed the graces in to crises.  As other people showed steadfastness against the misfortunes that inflicted them, Allah changed the misfortunes into graces.
The firmest handle of faith is to love, hate, give and deprive – all for Allah’s sake
Nothing will follow a dead person except three things:  alms that Allah gave permanently in his life and will follow him after death, a norm of guidance that others pursue, and a virtuous son that supplicates to Allah for his favor.
Faith is not indentified through outer appearances and hopes.  Faith is that which is pure in the heart and assured by deeds.
As a man worries about a little humility, this may engage him into a greater one.
Beware of associating with the lowly, because the association with them will never lead to welfare.
The believer’s laughter should be only a smile.

ISLAM THE RELIGION OF PEACE
WHAT IS ISLAM? Islam is ‘Abstinence and obedience’ and ‘abandoning that which Allah disapproveth of’. It is firm belief in the unity of Allah with the urge to action in His service, and kindness to His creation.
Some one asked the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s) tell me a word about Islam that may be enough for me, and that I may be clear in my thoughts, The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) replied, “Say thou, I believe in God and then keep straight on and that you give food (to the hungry) and extend greetings to all whom thou knowest and whom thou knowest not and be modest.  Whosover walks with a wrong doer that he may strengthen him, knowing all the while that he is a wrong doer, has departed from Islam.  The basic principle of Islam is thus “Purity of speech and hospitality”.
Further as said by the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) that a perfect Muslim is he from whose tongue and hands mankind is safe, and if you can keep your heart from morning till night and from night till morning free from malice towards anyone, then this one of my laws and he who loveth my laws verily loveth me”.  “The greatest enemies of God are those who are entered into Islam, and do acts of infidelity and who without cause shed the blood of men.  When you speak, speak the truth; perform when you promise; discharge your trust; commit not fornication; be chaste; have no impure desires; withhold your hands from striking, and from taking that which is unlawful and bad.  The best of God’s servants are those who, when seen, remind one of God; and the worst of God’s servants are those who carry tales about to do mischief and separate friends, and seek for the defects of the good.
As you see the verse of the Holy Quran is very crystal clear that God never likes ‘blood shed of man kind’, ‘and that one should not have no impure desires’, ‘and to withhold your hands from striking’, and further that worst of God’s servants are those who carry tales about to do mischief and separate friends, and seek for the defects of the good, and further that a perfect Muslim is he from whose tongue and hands mankind is safe.
The purport of the Prophet’s mission was to perfect good behaviour and keep on practicing good ethics.  Immam Ali (A.S.) the 1st Immam and Commander of the Faithful said “O people when Allah created men, He wanted them to obtain valuable qualities and noble behaviour.  He knew that it could not happen except by explaining what is good and what is bad; which in actuality He has explained through religious commands and prohibition.”
The most important pillar for the reformation of individuals is ‘the reformation of their minds’.  If man’s actions are for the sake of Allah the Almighty and to show obedience to Him, or at least, to obtain the reward of the world to come and to be saved from its punishment, they will bring about well-being and felicity in both the worlds for him, and he will be fruitful for the society.  On the contrary, if his actions are only for material goals they will not have elevated results.
Indeed the most excellent aim behind people’s efforts is that which is for the pleasure of Allah the Most High.  A society with such a prominent goal does not yeild to any kind of agression and transgression, nor does it surrender to immorality.  For this reason the Holy Quran and Islamic traditions lay stress on the reformation of the mind.
It is absolutely correct to say that Islam is a faith of peace and purfication and not a faith to create mischief and war in the world.  No Muslim is permitted to cause damage to or to even threaten to damage the life or property of innocent people in any part of the world.
It is rather very sad that the West has been targeting Muslims as ‘terrorist’ and tainting Islam in wrong colors and using the term ‘Islamic terrorism’ is absolutely wrong.  An individual’s or a group’s mis-deeds should not be associated with any particular faith or religion.
The Muslims all over the world do share the grief and sorrow for those whose kith and kin have been killed.  Many women have become widows, chidren orphaned.  No one can appreciate these violent deeds.  The basic question is what terrorism is and who promotes it.  While talking of Islam only, Islam does not permit killing or even hurting of any innocent people.  It is clear from the Holy Quran and the Holy Prophet’s (s.a.w.s.) preaching that ‘Islam is a symbol of peace and security; it preaches peace and security in society.’  So the perception that Islam promotes ‘terriorism’ is a wrong concept and mere a propoganda of the West and nothing else.
The Holy Quran says: “Allah loveth not the shouting of evil words in public speech, except by one who has been wronged, for Allah He who heareth and knoweth all things.  Whether you do openly a good deed or conceal it or cover evil”.  Further Muslims are those from whose hand and tongue no one feels hurt, rather people feel safe and secure with them.  If in a society an individual spends his life in such a way that people in his vicinity feel fear and feel threatened and he is respected only due to his fear, he not a good human in the eyes of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.)
There is nothing Islamic about terrorism.  There are extremists in every religion.  So why target Islam?  There are extremists in Europe but you don’t call them ‘Christian terrorists’ or the Hindus who destroyed the Babri Mosque in India, one doesn’t label them as ‘Hindu terrorist’. This is a dishonour to Islam and harmful to civilization as a whole.  After all, the Oklahoma bombings were not the work of Arabs or Muslim but pure Americans.  This does not mean that all Americans are bad.
Keeping ‘imbalance’ between country to country by the so called Super Powers are the main cause and giving fan to terrorism.  The US has paid the price for their anti-Muslim policies throughout the world especially in the Middle East region because of their open-ended military, financial and diplomatic support for the Israel.  The horrific suicide attacks on America as just desserts for a hostile superpower perceived as being responsible for so many suffering in Iraq and Palestine.  Each time a Palestinian is killed by American weapons, or a child dies in Iraqbecause of US- led sanctions, the blood debt, the rage and the frustration increase.  While rational people deplore the mindless slaughter of so many innocent people, they qualify their sympathy by pointing out the suffering of equally innocent Palestinians and Iraqis.
Every single day and night you see horrifying pictures on TV of Israelis killing brutully indiscriminately Palestanians whether they are armed or unarmed.  Scores of chidren are targetted with heavy artilleries, tanks and fighter planes.  The whole world till now has turned a ‘nelson eye’ to the Palestanians problem and they sleep tight with a smile. This has encouraged the Zionist Israel especially Arial Sharon to take a free hand in carrying out such brutul attacks on the Palestinian people.  Are they not humans?  Can you not call this ‘jew terriorism’?  The seed of brutality has been sowed by the so called Super Powers and there is no respect for any UN resolutions by Israel, who is well protected by theUS’s ‘veto power’.  Its high time that since US has now taken stand to fight terrorism and to eradicate it – it should first start with his ‘better half’- Israel.  Israel should be controlled now or it will be too late.  There should not be one policy for the Israel and another for the rest of the Arabs. If the US does not act fast and take an ‘impartial attitutde’ in its Foreign Policies it will not be far that each and every person victim of Israeli aggression will turn in toBin- Laden or a Taliban, they will be countless as such and it will then be an impossible task for the whole world to tackle such big numbers, where at present only one such in existence.
Things can be evil in relation to one another but not evil in themselves.  Scorpions and snakes are poisonous.  Are they good or evil?.  Well, a scorpion is evil in relation to the human being, likewise a snake vis-à-vis the humans.  But in relation to themselves they are not evil, for their poison is their weapon for self-defense.  It may then be construed that there is no evil in existencethat God created- He created good.
In conclusion the US and the world Super Powers should take both doctrinal and tactical adjustments in its foreign policy and address regional conflicts in a non-partisan manner.
The Holy Quran says: “When our decree was issued, we turned (their cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones, hard as baked clay, spread layer on layer.”   (H.Q. S11:82)
“But they turned away (from their Lord) and we sent them the floods from the Dams.”  (HOLY QURAN)
